But it doesn't have any of the safety features of a new vehicle so will his parent let him accept the gift?
No seatbelts, no airbags, no crumple zones, no cross traffic alert, no back-up camera, no lane assist, no anti-lock brakes, no auto high beam, no auto windshield whippers, no collision alert, no adaptive cruise . . . .etc . . . .
So he will actually need to learn how to DRIVE.

(seatbelts are an easy retrofit)

M7040, hope your granddaughter improves and has a wonderful birthday

that sure is a good question. What about who he wants to take for a ride in it?
for an around town putterer, might be ok. Wearing a seat belt religiously.
You can't put every kid in a Volvo S60....though used ones are very affordable.

I think an antique truck is a great third or fourth vehicle. This 14 year old child's father has at least four other cars tucked
away in the barns. An old M3 BMW, two Ferraris, who knows. He is my nephew and doesn't share much with me, so I don't know
what he is collecting. Other than the last V12 XKE.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of -2C with associated frost. It's presently 11.9C with a high overcast sky and calm.

It's 'into town' day for mail & groceries, which will be the major occurrence for the day.

That's about it, take care all.

The chimney is not up to today's code, obviously. I forget what they call this type of construction. They are to be removed if work is needed.

My problem is one of space in the room in the picture. I need that corner wall gone for a water heater and plumbing. The opening is just under 24 inches.

I have tools stuffed in there now, and the supporting framing is suspect.

The plan is two fold. One is to see if a roofer can patch the hole when the chimney comes out. I have some tin laying around. The other is to build a supporting platform in the attic and lay the salvaged bricks back in the hole. Effectively keeping the look. A fake chimney.

You can see it really is not that big, and should not be missed if we can patch the hole.

Thanks for the pics and explanation. I still like it, but if it is of no use. Maybe a cupola with a rooster wind vane?

75 going to 91. Got a quarter inch of welcome rain yesterday...After an hour outside this morning feels good to be back in A/C.

Thanks for the bug zapper advice and sound effects. I guess it's a No Deal on that.

Rip, thanks for pushing the pro route...if you did that, I guess I will, too. Did you use a local, or one of the franchise outfits? If franchise, mind sharing a reco? Milk House is looking real nice.

Kyle, I rarely ever get cramps, learned long ago to drink lots of water. But an excuse for a brat (and cooked a sausage) with mustard was worth it. Ever had sausage from Slovacek's? I them on The Texas Bucket List tv show a lot. Be careful on the highway...sounds more peaceful than the other route, but hazardous.

Joel, sounds like having a few black bears around here isn't too bad compared to what you have in Alaska.

Buppies, glad you got a nice sleep.

Windless morning allowed me to spray 65 gallons of gly 2% yesterday on a number of wildlife food plots...trying to "once and for all" rid them of bindweed, buttonweed, and a little stiltgrass. I know it's a fool's errand. Need to mow today...time it during the window after the grass dries, but before the ground dirt does.
I drive past the original Slovaceks on the way to work when I take the hemorrhoid highway. They have pretty good stuff. My son is into jalapeno cheese sausage right now. There have been many a sausage company that are at first, family owned and ran, only to sell out to corporations who ruin the recipe. Good luck with the spraying.

I did not sleep well at all last night. Glad you got some Buppies.

Work has been extremely busy the last 2 days have flown by. Actually quite worn out. Feeling my age, at least my legs are. Maybe I need some mustard. My fit bit broke a few months back, so I don't know how many steps or sleep amount. It had already been replaced under warranty once, but it ran out of warranty. One of the smaller ones. I'd give it a D- 1 star if I could. Ended up doing multiple jobs that involved a lot of dust...including changing out a ridged vac's bag and pleated filter....doing some renovations to a lab that hasn't been done in a long time. Everything behind the scenes is chock ful' o' dust. Then I get out to my crumpled steelskin car, and they had done concrete work nearby that left it covered in dust. At least I didn't have to cut the vacuum bag open to look for a shelving catch. I found it just before cutting it open. whew.

Mostly, hope the lawnmower situation gets remedied. I haven't mowed since before July the 4th. Don't exactly remember last time. Drought is making my mowing equipment get lazy.

RNG, hope the new place works out for the better in the long run. I hope you have room for most of your toys. My previous neighbor was going to sell their home, and he listed his tractor for sell too at the same time. The tractor was sold fast (because it was only maybe $3500), and then the home did not sell for many months. He admitted he sold the tractor too fast, as he needed one many times after his was gone.

Prayers for our team, our country, Ukraine and for Putin to get right.

63°F and cloudy this morning, got up to a whopping 75° here today. Steady light wind most of the day made it quite pleasant.

Took the last two days off from the day job to quasi celebrate completing my 57th trip around ol' Sol today. Spent most of today doing odd jobs around the house in the morning, then finished mowing what I'd left from Sunday. Also ran the push string trimmer between the road and the ditch along the road front of the neighbors to the south. They seem like they've been struggling to take care of that place since they bought it. Perhaps a neighborly gesture will inspire them to make a stronger effort, or maybe ask for some help. My Wife has talked with the wife, and gets the impression they have never owned property that size before.

Back to the day job tomorrow for a short week.

Hope everyone is well.

Good evening, gents.

I found out the reason why hamburger meat doesn't taste so good sometimes. The quality of the meat. Many ranchers when thinning the herd, will sell off old cows, that are just bags of bones, and they can barely make it up the ramp. These get processed into HB meat mostly, but there's more. The other bovine that sell for the least per pound are old bulls. The producers will use fat from the old bulls and mix it with the old cows leaner meat, to "prop it up some". Anyway, my buddy at work is going to sell me some 90/10 calf meat hamburger, made from chuck, for $5-6 per lb. I ordered 10 lbs.
