Don, sorry, my terminology is weird....Meeting is the name for our church. Each church is called a Monthly Meeting even though we meet on Sunday mornings just like most others.
So when I go to church on Sunday, I am going to Meeting. As for the rest, I'm delighted with Zoom.

Good Morning
59 and light rain forecast calls for low 70’s with occasional thunderstorms later.

Yesterday wasn’t bad, rain was very light and intermittent, and didn’t start until afternoon, so it was possible to finish mowing and work outside in the morning. Had a fun time troubleshooting an electrical problem at my sons. I knew it would be a challenge, as two contractors had already tried to sort it out. It turned out to be a defective Wago style connector buried in an outlet box behind an outlet. It was made of Chinesium, NOT a Wago brand. It was burnt and partially melted.

Now that the mailbox project is complete (and has received its first delivery),I’m off to the next project, although I’m not sure what it will be.

Today, I have to do a little blacksmithing and make a hook to hang a plant, but that will not take long, I might have to resort to cleaning up or doing paperwork to stay busy.

I’m supposed to pick someone up in East Hampton and take them to Trenton this evening, but I don’t think that the weather will allow that. It’s a short trip in the busiest airspace in the country, it doesn’t take much to jam things up.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 87F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
It was drizzling a few minutes ago, but there was no measurable precipitation in the gauge. The weather guesser said last night on TV that we may get thunder showers this afternoon. Fingers crossed the lightning doesn't start any new fires; we're getting several starts a day as it is.

No missing that mailbox, even in the fog, Paul. I'm afraid my mailman would still find a way to put the wrong mail in it, though.

The 18" bar I ordered at the Stihl dealer finally came in, and yesterday I got it mounted on the Makita electric saw. Had to carve a little plastic out of the way on the Makita, and it took forever to find the wrench to the Foredom flex shaft to switch out the cutter. Of course, it was just where it should have been, just buried under something else. By that time it was already pretty warm, so I got one tree limbed up and added to the pile, and quit for lunch. Almost got a nap in, but overcame inertia at the last minute and got a tank of RM43 sprayed on the scattered weeds and poison oak that's starting to pop up in the cleared areas. Could have done another tank, but it just wasn't in me. Way too hot, so I soaked myself down with the outdoor shower and enjoyed a margarita while sitting in the sun off the back porch. Low 90s are quite pleasant if you're wet enough.

Also found time to assemble a bird bath fountain I purchased last year, but learned it will only work in direct sun. The drip that feeds the bird bath is in a shady spot, so that's probably not going to work out. Ultimately I should fix the leak and move the bird bath to a better spot, then just use the remains of the drip irrigation system to keep it full. But that's a job for another day.

Not sure what I'll end up doing today, but there's no excuse to not do something...

Main chore is to see if I can extend the upper link turnbuckle of the 3PH so I can get the chipper properly rigged. After that (if successful), I'll start chipping the fallen branches before the predicted rain this afternoon...

Maybe a movie or two this afternoon, if it rains...

I’ll hit the next section before heading for town.

This isn’t a replacement for my flail, but would be nice in less challenging circumstances.
The guinea grass was a challenge but taking half bites worked. And I’m too lazy to do another pass.

66 and raining. T-Storms off and on since 4:30am. Lots of rain spread out, and thankful for it. Stayed up late with son and DIL playing games, so would have appreciated the wake-up thunder clap a little later in the morning.

They say it's gonna get up to 85 and humid, but they also didn't say we'd get rain all morning, and I see another storm approaching. Got pretty wet putting the bird feeders back out at first light...found out one of my boots is no longer waterproof, too.

Real nice planes and wings, guys...best I ever did was a wind-up rubber band motor on a little balsam frame, but great fun watching those things fly. Alien, didn't even know what a wing was until watching your video.

Sodamo, Hawaii is looking as beautiful as ever...you both do a great job making that a paradise home. Still seeing some snow up on your volcano?

Kyle, glad your new job is underway and challenging you. Hope the commute is better, with gas prices still marching up...I heard the national average went over 5 bucks for the first time ever, and the inflation rate hit a 4 decade high.

Mostly, not sure even the wind from a fast bike ride like yours would feel good at 95F, especially knowing 110 is coming.

Did some lopping and string trimming yesterday. Used my pickup bed to carry the lopped branches since the tractor is waiting for another lug bolt...good thing, too...after backing the truck up to the brush pile and getting out to unload, saw a beautiful adult box turtle sitting right in the track that my tractor tire had made last time I grappled a load...pretty sure with a big load of brush on the front of the tractor, I wouldn't have seen the turtle, and would have driven over it. With the truck tailgate down, didn't back up that far.

tonight I took our dog Minnu (an Anatolian Shepherd) for a walk on the property, we stopped at the spot where I buried Max (Golden Retriever), a little over 2 weeks ago. Minnu has been grieving for a few weeks, misses her friend, I think that Minnu knew that this was the spot, maybe that little visit will help.

Morning all, 63 going up to 78 and raining.

I got a lot done yesterday, went and fixed up the wood racks and split a few loads to start filling them.
Then took the chipper down to the big stack of sticks and got that all cleaned up.
Chips off to fill in some trails areas.
Between each task it would drizzle a bit but rain held off til late last night.

Sodamo - always amazed at your views, hardly notice the long grass.
Alien - nice plane footage, those wings look quite agile.

Kyle - looking forward to Monday on the new job? Always fun and stressful, hope the fun outweighs the stress and new friends are made.


Guess it's inside jobs today -see if I can plumb in a dehumidifier for one of the garages. Fix the connector on my sons guitar. Who knows what else I'll find to do with the heavy rain.

And of course son told me last night we are having a going away party at our house Wednesday for one of his friends who are moving.

Good morning! 63 now, supposed to go to 79 later. Rained overnight and again right after I rolled outta bed.

We had a late night last night. Went to the races at Salem. Guy I help had a decent night, 3 2nd’s. His dad came out of retirement and got a 3rd in the 50+ class. My wife enjoyed it, even tho I kept her out past her bed time.

Nice planes Guys. Wish I had the patience.

Filled in some gaps in the beans yesterday morning. Lettuce we are getting from the garden this year is very good. Not sure what I did different. Tomatoes and peppers are doing good. Looks like we may have a bumper crop of zucchini this year.

Not sure what I am gonna get into today.

Got up to P at midnite, noticed A/C was blowing, but not cold....condenser unit humming outside. Turned everything off until morning. Kicked off my sheet and put an extra small fan on us. Got up at 7 and started checking it out, fortunately I had the capacitor and the contacts in stock. I put an American made MARS 60/5 mfd 440/370 into place, replacing a Chinese cap that lasted maybe 3 years or so. SHE RUNS! It has about an 17-18° split, so seems good on operation.

Wifey is so happy. Got me some brownie points. With this heat down here, it would have been a nightmare for us. Closest family that could accommodate us is 100 miles away.

It's good to keep spare capacitor and contacts in stock. This small town has no place you can drive up and get this stuff. A local A/C guy would sell it to me for full retail. I probably should've replaced the contacts too, "while I was in there".

Compressor status: The SpeedAire Dayton motor throws sparks and pops, they come out the end with the red reset button. My friend in Dacosta Texas has been offering me an OLD roll around Campbell Hausfeld unit. So old, it was "Made in USA", owned by his grandpaw, long since gone to be with the good Lord. It is single phase setup on 115volt. I actually repaired the belt's V-grooves on the pulleys last night with a wire wheel (they were clogged up from mud daubers) and got it running on 115 volts. The drain valve leaks, so I unplugged it. It has virtually the same pump that the Speedaire has, and the CH motor only shows 15/7.5 amps, which is what they are selling cheap from Surplus Center. So when things settle down financially (job change over new insurance not subsidized until Aug1), I'll order one of the Surplus Center motors to replace the Dayton, for backup. You wouldn't believe how heavy the CH unit is. Maybe the air tank is made with thick metal. I was able to stuff it in the back seat of my car with some cardboard to protect the seats. That saved about half on gas for the trip compared to the SUV truck. I might Tee it into the existing system for a "pneumatic capacitor" and have it with some quick connects.

As an Army brat in Germany in the late 60's we had drills to evac our housing and actually go sit in the buildings bomb shelters. Each building had it's own basement with a more hardened area down one side. As a kid we would not understand why we were doing what we were doing. Not even when we took field trips to the wall.

Those buildings are now owned by the german government and are civilian housing. They were built tough. The area has changed little from my youth.

My new boss's boss, director over our department, jokes that he is from Egypt, and everything over there is 2000 years old. LOL.

thanks for the reminder mostly_gas, ... My shoulder dislocation is still on the mend, but my physio appts are going well and the physio therapist is pleased. he says the progress is good. I still notice a weakness, easy arm fatigue, and average at best grip strength (significant weakening at this point still) but it can take upwards of 12-15 months for general recovery, so we'll see how the next few months work out. the injury was Sept 2021, so by Christmas this year it will probably be at it's best. Three fingers, shoulder are still a bit numb. I thank the Lord that progress is happening. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers

Sorry about your shoulder. Hope it gets better without complications. Also sorry about your pup. I love Goldens. My friend has 2 Goldens, that are a year old. They are fun dogs.
