Found a new wildfire reporting tool yesterday called Watch Duty. It's a phone app, with versions available for both Android and iPhone. So far, it only covers California, but it's state wide. Check it out if you're a California resident, or will be traveling here...

Also managed to get an Eley wall mounted hose reel installed yesterday. I was impressed with the quality of the parts, but not so much with the packaging. It was sturdy enough, but really difficult to find all the pieces and break them free of their packaging. But the best thing is how well it works. I was able to mount it parallel with the wall, so the hose comes straight into the reel. The sides of the reel are sloped, so it almost automatically spools the hose in level lifts with only minor encouragement. Might have to get one or two more, they work so nicely. It's been long enough that I forget who mentioned it in this thread, but thanks!

71F and cloudy @ 10:30, heading up to around 80F for the high. From the looks of it, it hasn't rained yet but they are calling for scattered thunderstorms to develop this afternoon (40% chance)

Refilled hopper feeder first thing yesterday.

Then trip to PO, stopped on way back and got 3 or so gallons of gas for the Cub, to fill the one empty tank.

After I got back I gave veggie seedlings a drink (1/4 teaspoon of MiracleGro per small watering can)

Then I mowed the lawn down here around the house and got that all done.

Located order confirmations for 2 of 3 items I'm returning to Menards.

Got aquarium hosed out, also rinsed out four or five 5 gallon buckets.

Plants around back watered, also weeded the new ones.

No planting done, chipmunk traps not refilled/re-baited.

Did not make trip to Menards either, instead water and weeded squash and pumpkin plants in pots. Used fulll strength MiracleGro (2 tablespoons per 2 gallon watering can) Got maybe 1/3 - 1/2 of the pots weeded but all them watered/fed.

Fortunately, probably 1/4 of the pots don't have any weeds growing in them, so don't have very much to do today to finish that up. Rearranged things a further away from the house so that all plants should receive as much sun as possible. Some plants already setting blooms.

Agenda for today:

Finish up work on squash/pumpkins.

Then trip to Menards.

Once I get back will see about about doing some further planting/mulching, work up in shop on Kubota if rain/thunderstorms develop.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)

After I got going this morning, I found the failed connector, here are pictures showing why not to use knock off stuff.

Good morning to all! Low was 64°, supposed to be 92° later, but if it is similar to yesterday, we'll hit 98°. It's already 85° at 09:00. The A/C is turned on already.

David, looks like the BX is doing good! As usual, nice views!

Kyle, nice that your friend gave you an old reliable tool, nothing like them anymore.

Mostly, I don't know how you go out in the heat to ride.... I would have to become nocturnal......

RS, you're slacking today.... "no planting done".....???

Thomas, glad you got some seat time! What time is dinner?

Paul, that's scary seeing burned / melted connectors. What was the line supplying? Too high amperage?

Not sure what I'll get into today. I might try to start on the picket fence project, but I really don't want to be out in the heat. A better option might be to make the raised bed planter out in the shop... at least I can have a fan blowing on me there. OR..... maybe bring in another RC for rehabbing..... I'm sure I will get into something.....

I need to get the hairs cut.... and the beard scruff shaved off.... I've been playing 'mountain man' for over a month.....

Hope Eric is doing ok.

Everyone have a great day!

71 and light rain,82 predicted for later. We’ve had about 1/4” of rain since yesterday afternoon.

I acquired a 3 point pallet fork yesterday. Not sure how much I need it but the price was right.
Supposed to be dropped off later today.

Everyone is busy helping get my FIL ready for his auction, going to be huge, five large trailers and four farm wagons full so far, plus all the tractors, trucks and implements and all of his antique collections like tools, toys, signs, bikes, yardsticks and way more. It ought to be interesting.

69°F and .29 inches rain.

Successful trip to town yesterday. Shear bolts, keg of beer, dinner with wife.
Spent about an hour exploring my new piano, clavinova. Fascinating!! If I could become comfortable with even 5% of its capabilities I’d be in awe. My grandmother’s piano it is not.

Should get rest of my fields mowed with flail today. Yesterday was fun with the BX, but my LS with flail is more appropriate for these conditions.

Glad to read so many seem to be on the positive side of their conditions.

Eric, we miss you

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Wngsprd, nope, snow is gone, at least for now.

Ken, i didn’t think grass was that tall, until sitting on the BX and looking up.

I really have to thank you guys for helping me appreciate living here even more. Not only all the really nice comments from time to time, but at least twice a year when you are inundated with snow and freezing your butt or the sun is roasting it at triple digits. Thank you guys. 🤙

Just conserving energy for the "big planting push" ... ;) :

Got 'em all weeded (picture taken a little before I was finished) If the sun stays out, they're gonna need watered again by the end of the day.

After being out there in the sun for a bit, I like the way you're thinking ... (y)

And it ain't nearly as hot here as it is there ... yet anyways.

I need to get the hairs cut.... and the beard scruff shaved off....

Same ... but not for quite as long on the beard anyways. Probably on the hair and it's starting to become annoying.

Time to grab a shower and then make the run to Menards.

Reel-ly like my Eley hose reel also. I should get another for the front hoses, except still never replaced that hose bib.

75° and 80% humidity. Starting to cloud up, better jump on mower.

nice surprise at church, someone actually volunteered to be Clerk of Meeting (head) so I can leave the position in two weeks.
I've known him since I was a little kid; he and I have been members all our lives, grateful he is stepping up. Now I can relax....

more rain headed in later, stormy weather

probably should go plant those two trees that came in but going to wait until tomorrow, should be a nice day
in fact looks like all that high heat out West will not quite make it here; no days in 90's in 10 day forecast. Fine by me

Chipper is rigged...had one Delta Sierra* moment

Chipped some branches that were down and trimmed a couple which I also chipped
Since the hospital stay last October and the recent ministroke, I've lost a lot of strength and stamina...really noticed that today. Granted, I'm mostly sedentary at work...that doesn't help either.
Getting old sucks...better then the alternative, I guess

My Delta Sierra moment was not moving the QH upper hook to the proper position...high for the chipper, low for the flail mower and snow blower. Can't believe I did that...but I did...

*Delta Sierra...the military phonetic alphabet...Delta is "D", Sierra is "S"
Delta Sierra is "Dumb ****"...military equivalent to "Senior Moment"
