I used to kid that my Father had a hard time with an adjustable wrench but some folks are just not mechanical.
I think most of us have used an old adjustable that was way too sloppy and just didn't grip well.
Want a good one?

Buppies, chill on the beach and may the ocean breezes be healing. Rum helps too...

just cooked myself a nice breakfast of home fries with portabella mushrooms, some eggs scrambled in and
my limit of about six drops of Crystal sauce on top. Hot sauce is on the no no list. Discovered I was out of onions.
Good reason to run downtown early since I forgot the milk too. Lot of plates in air this time of year.

let's all stay healthy. Seems to be getting harder to do.

Yep, and I'd rather have the snow...
Some folks in New England ***** about winter and snow...you have to ask..."why live here?"
I love watching snow...don't care to drive in it anymore. Good planning minimizes that...
For me, snow is what really replenishes the aquifer. If you have a well, you know how important that is

I might be surprised, but I think this will be a very mild winter...mostly nuisance snow with no real accumulation. The sole good part of that is there won't be much need for roof raking
Couldn't agree more. (y)

Good Morning
It’s 31 and won’t make it to 45 today under mostly clear skies.
Good chance of rain overnight and a near certainty for Christmas.
It will not be a white Christmas for us, 50 degrees and rain. Yuck.

Yesterday was a busy day, got the RAV4 running smoothly with no codes, delivered some more baked goods. I helped a friend put a master cylinder on his old CJ5, that was actually still titled in my name. He bought it from someone that bought it from the person I sold it to, and none of them transferred the title, as they didn’t use it on road. I’m making a point to go with this owner to the auto tag place and see that it is transferred. I did the double flares on the brake lines for him, but when we tried to bleed the brakes, it had a lit of other leaks, so he is going to replace all the lines. After that, it was off to the restaurant to fix a freezer case. Got back home to gather up trash and recycling and take the carryall for another test run of the trash can brackets.

Today should be the last of the deliveries, wrap come presents, and then put my feet up and relax. Our Christmas tradition is to have a nice big family breakfast early, the open presents and relax and socialize, usually with Home Alone playing on the tube.
Oldest son is a huge fan of that movie. Even at 40 years old, he will often wear a “Wet Bandits” sweat shirt. I think he was about 7 when the movie came out.

This timing works well now that the kids are grown, as they can head off to their in-laws for a late afternoon Christmas and dinner.

Everyone out there be careful, stay healthy and have a great Christmas (or Festivus, or whatever holiday you choose to celebrate).

Stepdaughter works today for few hours, then some shopping (groceries and some liquid refreshment). So, I've got the wifey watch...at least until stepdaughter returns (figure 1500-1600)

I'm on the 3rd Season of "Babylon 5", but I think I'll take a break from that and watch a couple of my favorite Christmas movies...."It's a Wonderful Life" and the 1951 British version of "A Christmas Carol". Wifey hates old B&W movies, so I reckon it'll just be me and Jameson

Good morning! Bermuda shorts weather here....63 going to 80+

Still feeling a bit crummy and plenty of phlegm. Low energy. I did fish for an hour or more yesterday with a friend who came over. He caught 3 panfish, I caught 1 bass. Slow fishing and windy.

The Older gator's battery is on the cusp of adequacy. Dated 08/19, so older than 2 year warranty.

Contemplating making an aluminum adapter plate for the Roughneck. I would make it about 50% thicker than the cast iron.....need to make sure I have a 1/4" wide broach at work for the key slot. This is a low budget production. This will have to be done later on, when I'm not so busy.

Should I be worried about PJS? Paul, I hope you are OK.

Rich, a trip down south sounds nice. Hopefully get a chance to thaw out.

Doug, did the tradesmen make any headway in their respective fields? Hope you get your house back soon.

Popgadget, glad you got the RAV4 going w/o having to take the intake off.

Eric, we are having TexMex tamales. I bought 6 dozen, 3 beef, 1 pork, 1 black bean, 1 chicken. Pork is traditional, but wifey prefers beef. Also having Chili, Queso, and Mexican rice.

We just got a nice gift pack of Wisconsin cheeses and dried meats/sausages, from my cousin.

My son gets to be an acolyte tonight, in what my be our biggest service since covid started.

I might run and get another covid test, just to triple check before I pick up my 92yo mother.

Mostly, I'm trying to read and re-read, did you get a new bike or get your bill paid for, for the old bike?

Randy and Sophie, prayers for successful medical treatments. Also for healing for our crew, and for our nation.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 6:00 AM. Cloudy early, then off and on rain showers for the afternoon. High 53F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Big change in the 10-day this morning. No rain at all starting next Thursday. But it's also predicting snow here for next Wednesday. And difficult travel conditions in the mountains over the weekend.

Gasoline was over $4.50/gallon in town yesterday, Buppies. But I could buy all I wanted, which hasn't always been the case. Glad you found some warm weather for Christmas.

That looks like the same tool I remember, Don. Glad your experience wasn't too painful.

Yet another example of two nations separated by a common language, Doug.

Yesterday did not go according to plan.

Tried to drive the van to town, but it quit running up at the cul-de-sac. The crank but won't start problem. Let it sit a few minutes, and it started right up. Got another mile and it quit again, so I coasted off the road and let it sit some more, and wouldn't start back up. Texted a neighbor to see if he could help tow it back to the house, then started walking home, figuring I'd rather wait for a tow truck there than at the side of the road. Neighbor found me after only a few minutes of walking. Got it home with no issues, but coasting down the hill to get enough speed to make it up the last slope to the driveway was exciting. But overall I think I lucked out. It wasn't raining. The neighbor was available for the two. Neither of us hit anything. It broke close to home, instead in the middle of next weeks trip. But most of all, now that the problem seems to be permanent, I should be able to figure out what's wrong and fix it. At the side of the road yesterday I couldn't hear the fuel pump running, so that's where I'll start.

Jumped in the truck and as always, it ran fine. But the allergist was closed when I dropped by for the usual shots. Must be nice to have a job where you can spend so little time working, and set your own hours.

More luck at the motorcycle shop finding discontinued parts. Next time, though, I'll be on my own finding 18mm x .8mm Viton o-rings to rebuild the fuel petcocks.

They had Claussen Kosher Dills at the grocery store, but had moved them. There was a very long line to get to the cash registers, but found if I used a different approach, there were several checkouts with only two people in line. The Christmas sheep syndrome was in full swing.

Got home and had to walk the opener right up next to the gate before it would work, so the remote probably needs a new battery. Inside as I was reaching for the first piece of wood to stoke the stove, I heard a loud beep, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. Ugh. A couple minutes later, another beep. Moved into the hall, and there it is again, but not in the hall. Went back to the great room, and it was louder. Moved closer to the smoke detector mounted high up on the wall, and the beep was louder. Set up the 8' step ladder, which just happened to be leaning against the wall right next to the smoke detector. Another stretch of good luck, or maybe a reward for being lazy about putting the ladder away. Got the batteries in the smoke detector changed without falling on my butt, and no more beep. Had left over chili for dinner, with a big salad, and no more surprises.

Today it looks like the rain is supposed to hold off until late afternoon, so maybe I won't get too wet working on the van. Fingers crossed. The truck could use an oil change, which I like to do every 5,000 miles, but the factory interval is 7,500 miles, so officially it doesn't need it. What it does need is a good cleaning inside, so maybe I can work that in, too, just in case I can't get the van going. It's starting to look like another Christmas to remember...

It has been cold here the last couple of days. We still have lettuce in the garden. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

I thought this video clarified the vaccine situation for me. Vincent Racaniello is a Columbia professor/researcher. He produces a lot of content.

stay safe

Is there a Cliffs Notes version of that video, Chris? Too much yucking and not enough info and I had to give up after five minutes...
