Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 6:00 AM. Cloudy early, then off and on rain showers for the afternoon. High 53F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Big change in the 10-day this morning. No rain at all starting next Thursday. But it's also predicting snow here for next Wednesday.

And difficult travel conditions in the mountains over the weekend.
Gasoline was over $4.50/gallon in town yesterday, Buppies. But I could buy all I wanted, which hasn't always been the case. Glad you found some warm weather for Christmas.
That looks like the same tool I remember, Don. Glad your experience wasn't too painful.
Yet another example of two nations separated by a common language, Doug.
Yesterday did not go according to plan.
Tried to drive the van to town, but it quit running up at the cul-de-sac. The crank but won't start problem. Let it sit a few minutes, and it started right up. Got another mile and it quit again, so I coasted off the road and let it sit some more, and wouldn't start back up. Texted a neighbor to see if he could help tow it back to the house, then started walking home, figuring I'd rather wait for a tow truck there than at the side of the road. Neighbor found me after only a few minutes of walking. Got it home with no issues, but coasting down the hill to get enough speed to make it up the last slope to the driveway was exciting. But overall I think I lucked out. It wasn't raining. The neighbor was available for the two. Neither of us hit anything. It broke close to home, instead in the middle of next weeks trip. But most of all, now that the problem seems to be permanent, I should be able to figure out what's wrong and fix it. At the side of the road yesterday I couldn't hear the fuel pump running, so that's where I'll start.
Jumped in the truck and as always, it ran fine. But the allergist was closed when I dropped by for the usual shots. Must be nice to have a job where you can spend so little time working, and set your own hours.
More luck at the motorcycle shop finding discontinued parts. Next time, though, I'll be on my own finding 18mm x .8mm Viton o-rings to rebuild the fuel petcocks.
They had Claussen Kosher Dills at the grocery store, but had moved them. There was a very long line to get to the cash registers, but found if I used a different approach, there were several checkouts with only two people in line. The Christmas sheep syndrome was in full swing.
Got home and had to walk the opener right up next to the gate before it would work, so the remote probably needs a new battery. Inside as I was reaching for the first piece of wood to stoke the stove, I heard a loud beep, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. Ugh. A couple minutes later, another beep. Moved into the hall, and there it is again, but not in the hall. Went back to the great room, and it was louder. Moved closer to the smoke detector mounted high up on the wall, and the beep was louder. Set up the 8' step ladder, which just happened to be leaning against the wall right next to the smoke detector. Another stretch of good luck, or maybe a reward for being lazy about putting the ladder away. Got the batteries in the smoke detector changed without falling on my butt, and no more beep. Had left over chili for dinner, with a big salad, and no more surprises.
Today it looks like the rain is supposed to hold off until late afternoon, so maybe I won't get too wet working on the van. Fingers crossed. The truck could use an oil change, which I like to do every 5,000 miles, but the factory interval is 7,500 miles, so officially it doesn't need it. What it does need is a good cleaning inside, so maybe I can work that in, too, just in case I can't get the van going. It's starting to look like another Christmas to remember...
