Good morning!!!!

Good morning everyone.

A beautiful late Winter/Early Spring day here today; sunny and calm; temperatures were in the mid30's. It may reach near 60 this PM= A great day to putter around outside = I need to repair my Big Green Egg's cracked inner ceramic shell.

We started shopping for a new Subaru Forester yesterday. I still consider them to be one of the best snow handling car in their price range and their AWD is a proven performer. Wifey is leaning toward the Forester 2.5 Touring package. Lot's of new and fancy (expensive) gizmos on these new vehicles; lots of blinking lights  Someday I will post about a really interesting infant research study about blinking lights and gender differences. There are reasons for those blinking lights. ;)

This pending weekend weather event will be a nasty wet and windy event with some possible higher elevation snow for parts of NE. The two main low pressure systems do not really phase together, but the coastal storm that does develop will supposedly "bomb" close to the NE coast and the commahead wraparound moisture could become really "interesting" as to precipitation amounts and type. Yesterday's NWS predicted storm paths of all the different "pieces" looked like a loose shotgun pattern. Like Buppies posted as more storm data is gathered the accuracy of prediction starts improving @ the 72 hour timeframe. This weather event will hopefully set the stage for a colder and snowier event March 7 - 9 as noted by Buppie and others here.

Buppies- You posted about a total medication change. I hope you wean off the old meds and adjust to your newly prescribed meds w/o any difficulties.

Ed- I hope Mom is stabilizing and improving. Extra prayers, wishes, and thoughts sent.

My positive thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all.

We will get wet and windy the next couple of days, the 3/7-3/14 period here looks quite normal, temps on either side of 50.

Don, I'm surprised that passes as a "county" road. Like RNG, I think I'd be making some noise about that.

Oh I did and I'm also taking the pics to the tax appraiser to get my property taxes lowered.
This isn't after each Spring thaw, its after each rain, the roads don't freeze.

Randy- My egocentrism affected my focus on and posting about the March 7 - 9 weather event. This weather system will mostly affect the NE region. The MA CONUS looks to be uneventful (at the moment).

There is an interesting splitting of models with this pending weather event depending storm track and timing. It the Southern track group is correct NE PA and most of NY will get clobbered. If the Northern track group is correct it will be a rain/snow event.

Our property seems to grow in size with each property tax assessment.

66° and another 1.04 inches rain last 24 hours. Sun, sun, where are you?

Ed, sorry to hear about Mom.

Prayers for all.

That brisket came out super!!!

My gimbal does the crazy dance, need to evaluate.

Be safe
Have a great day

David- is that a 3 axis stabilized gimbal?

Once my 2 axis aftermarket gimbal had its grand mal seizure it was dead. I never got the "magic smoke." I never could get it to "hold" its calibration due to its end of service programming chip. Some HobbyKing products or products they market just plain suck.

Good luck.

The local ProMets are now starting to talk about this pending rain event changing over to heavy wet snow in the higher elevations. Some of the modeled snow maps are pretty impressive as to total accumulations. We'll know for certain Saturday ;).

The tractor is ready for whatever happens.

I hope that everyone is having a decent and manageable day today.

came in for lunch, have been rototilling for hours, small craft advisory just posted.
looks like it's going to rain and blow tomorrow.

Jay, buy the Touring. That's what I have and the autostop would have prevented a minor rearender I had here two years ago, first accident in 50 years of driving. Thought it couldn't happen to me...but a crazy old woman decided to stop in the middle of the road when pulling out and when asked why she answered she didn't know. Hopefully her keys were pulled after that, but she sure faked me out. The lane beeper will drive you nuts if you cut the center lane on curves on country roads but otherwise the adaptive cruise is just awesome. Those blinky lights absolutely will keep you safer. The one that pulls you back into the center of the lane is pretty crude though. And the cameras get hissy in heavy rain and go out, with all kinds of serious looking alarms that five different safety systems are no longer there. Probably doesn't like driving in snow, though the car is absolutely like a leech on the road. It's all worth it. The Touring brown leather is a poor mans Audi Allroad, but sure is soft feeling.

back to tilling. Doing the new third of an acre I just added, making one full acre I now lease. Making sure it's all clear where the new line ends.
That plus the 2/3 of an acre I already owned out there is plenty for me. Probably more than plenty...

Well I am back from North Bay. Started raining in South River and by the time I got to the Bay (45 miles) it was snowing pretty hard. They got about 2" in 2 hours. It was still snowing when I left, but the highway was bare and wet almost to S.R. where it turned dry.

Now I get to do nothing the rest of the day.

Daugen- Thanks for your owner impression. I am not a firm believer in "Consumer Reports" reporting, but their comparative evaluation of snow driving by the Forester, CRV, and RAV4 was interesting and the Forester came out on top. Wifey's rear ending a Jeep Grande Cherokee would not have happened with all this fancy autostop stuff. She did it right in front of a police officer too. Wifey got charged, but a Smith College coed crossing moving traffic from in between parked cars caused the Jeep to brake suddenly. A super fancy, expensive, entitled, uberPC women's private college with high admission standards and the students there are too stupid to show any safety/situational awareness crossing the street. The police office told my wife that he sees this Smith Squirrel problem all the time.:( I stopped driving by there after a coed did the "squirrel dart across the street craziness" and hit the side of my truck. Luckily my truck was not injured. The "squirrel" took off after she bounced off; no apparent injuries noted.

David- I can smoke a mean rib, but a decent barbecue brisket still eludes me.

The Big Green Egg will need another batch of furnace cement, but it looks like the repair will get me another 30 years of use ;)
