Good Morning.
It’s 24 and going to get up to 45 with rain likely this evening.

Yesterday was spent mostly doing farm chores. View attachment 726141

And delivering breads that my wife baked.

Still fighting with the RAV4 throwing codes. Looks like a different coil pack this time. Fortunately it’s one that’s easy to get to. I bought a set of six of them from Amazon for $70, which is about what I paid for one at the auto parts store. I’ll likely change the all the front ones this morning. The rear ones require removing the intake manifold.

After that, I’ve got more deliveries to make.

Good to know, thanks. How many did you have removed? I have quite a few very close together.
The staple puller they used was considerably different from the one I use here on my desk.:ROFLMAO: So I's say it was a painless proceedure.

Good morning, best kind of mist today, clear enough to see trees and livestock while completely hiding from view everything further than neighbour's fields.

Our turkey arrived very fresh last night, I will dress it this afternoon. Is there a special food that those of you who already ate turkey at Thanksgiving have for Christmas ?

Can't leave the zipper knee pic in Erics and Mostly mind to haunt them every time they see a zipper
Much appreciated Don. I heard that a company in New Zealand make the best staple pullers. https://www.strainrite.co.nz/product/staple-puller/

Excellent news Bups !

Was 25 outside this AM, heading to mid 40's.

Managed to get all the plumbing parts needed, will attempt fixes this AM as soon as things get settled with the animals.
Even got some groceries and gas yesterday. All in all a success following the SO around.

Looked like business as usual yesterday in the stores and on the road. If you know what I mean.

Hope all have a great day, and are not stressing too much with Christmas upon us.

Just in case, Merry Christmas to the Good Morning Crew. Health, Happiness and Prosperity to you and your families in the New Year.

All the best. And be safe.

Good morning! 60˚F cloudy, south wind, heading to the mid 70s. Warm enough to wear shorts to the Dr. Looks like we are on track to our 2nd warmest Christmas Day ever - in the low 80s. The weather people on TV just love extremes and weather events. I'm trying to not overthink todays main event - the staple pull, but if the tool is big and red and from New Zealand I might walk/roll out.

Good morning! A frosty 16 right now but sunny. Supposed to get to 36 later. They lied about yesterday’s high. Never got above 31 at the house. Looks like a stretch of mild temperatures in the 10 day.

Our plans to go see family in MD for Christmas are cancelled. They all have been tested positive and are varying degrees of sick. So we will stay home and keep it low key. Gonna stop and see my dad and step-mom. Couldn’t even do that last year.

Snow blower is ready for winter! Started on the first pull. That shocked me. Maybe adding the fuel shut off was a good idea. Swapped the skid shoes around. Looks like this is the last good edge. Probably should get another set. Lots of choices for replacements.

All the summer equipment got a good run and had a chance to circulate fuel stabilizer thru the system. Then park for the winter. Used the tractor and hitch hauler to haul the trash to the road and move some wood. So far….the hitch hauler has been a good, cheap idea to move stuff.

@Kyle_in_Tex - yep, good to have another flat track fan on here. At least you know what I babble about! Going to FL the week of January 3 for the race Cory Texter is promoting. 3 days of racing. Some good money up for grabs

Hope everyone continues to heal

Everyone stay safe out there!

24 going to 45. Sunny. Walking around this morning was the first time this year I felt the ground a little frozen...usually it has only been frost on soft ground, or dry ground.

Hope all goes well with staples and stitches.

Eric, we are having what we like to call Shepherd's Pie, made with ground turkey...I think PJ corrected it once before and called it Cottage Pie, a more correct name. Sometimes we add in green chile sauce and corn and beans and call it Southwestern Shepherd's Pie. Then we're having Chicken Divan, my mother's recipe, when the next son/wife comes in a day later. No sheep for us...we'll let you keep them. ;)

Since the common cold is also a corona virus, a lot of folks are needlessly worried and even confusing their symptoms. For those confirmed as covid, a very small portion are tested to the level of determining which variant actually infected someone. Grocery shopping yesterday, did see masks making a comeback, and a lot of empty shelves.

I think "our" red-tailed hawk returned yesterday after many months away...flew to the same spot it used to hang out, and then over to the nest tree where it was "born." When it was first learning to fly, it landed in the bird bath in our front yard and just sat there while we walked around.

Morning all 27 and sunny, looks like it will warm up to the 30's
Got the garage door springs changed out, was pretty easy.

Hope all the staple pullings go well and pain free.

Back to work for me, last day before 2022 !

Stay safe and be well,

Good morning to all! Low was only 34, going up to 58 today. Partly cloudy, getting windy later.

I was able to get a few hours in the garage yesterday, just need to move a few boxes of trash and will get the BH in its winter resting spot. Then on to tackle placement of the big tools on the other side so I can get the tractor in there. Seems like I have one tool too many..... when I rearrange them, I always have one tool without a home. I think it's the welding / plasma cutter cart. Just can't find a good spot for it......

I think my daughter has a screw loose up in the control center..... She drove all the way down from Colorado (4 1/2 hour drive) to drop off Christmas presents. Stayed for about 45 minutes, and started back home. She said she couldn't wait until after everyone wasn't sick at home. It was nice to see her, even if only for a very short time.

Rip, hope you truly do have all the plumbing parts needed..... I don't get along with the plumbing knomes..... even after laying everything out on the floor in the store, I always come up short at least one fitting......

Eric, we will be having applewood smoked ham, white shoepeg corn, broccoli florets / cheese, and one of my favorites---- homemade pierogies (from a generations old recipe). Oh, can't forget dessert--- an apple / cheesecake pie. I have been on a diet for the last month in preparation.....;)

Hope all the stitch and staple removals go well.....

Gonna try to get an early start out in the garage.....
Everyone have a great day!

no Covid test kits at CVS, two week wait online.
I'm pretty sure if I called my primary and asked to be given the test,
they would have some kits. No way I want to wait in line at ER; if I wasn't sick already I would sure be exposed there.

time to finish house cleaning. Picked up a few extra goodies at supermarket.
Guests come later today. Decaf tea? check gluten free? check.
What I did find is gluten free does not mean good for you. Those gluten free Oreos
were really yummy and full of sugar. Now low carb and gluten free would be a lot better.
Throw in low or no sugar and/or use applesauce and figs instead.
I ate one of those Oreos and immediately thought this is really good, which usually means its not good for you.

apple cheesecake pie. What a diet buster. I'd like two pieces please...

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 8:00AM. Rain. Thunderstorms possible...mainly in the afternoon. High 54F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Mother Nature gifted us with 0.64" of rain yesterday, adding another half inch since midnight. The winds did pick up, though, enough to rattle the porch cover and sliding doors, and drive the rain hard enough into the windows to wake me up a couple times last night.

Neat hawk story, Billy.

Snap-On sells 10mm combination wrenches in several lengths, and none of them are inexpensive, Doug. The mechanic that lost the one that Drew found was not having a good day, and was almost certainly aware of his loss. But being on the clock, he probably couldin't afford the time to go looking for it in the confined spaces of the typical modern car. Not sure what you mean by "shifter" though, maybe we call them extensions, which fit between a socket and ratchet handle and come in various lengths?

I looked into R1s for the M63, Kyle, but they would not fit the rims that are on there now, and they don't have the load capacity for the backhoe if I switched rims. At least that's what the Kubota dealer told me. But I'm getting pretty good at getting it to slide in more or less the direction I want to go, and have a winch mount on the box blade if I get really stuck. If I get really, really stuck, I think the neighbor gets a perverse sense of satisfaction out of hauling the Kubota back up the hill with his John Deere. 😄

All of the trees the wind has knocked down here have been Live Oaks so far, Bird. But the acorns from them are a little more than an inch long and maybe 3/8" in diameter at the largest, with both ends somewhat pointed. I think I figured out it's the woodpeckers that are jamming the acorns above the man door into the 24' box trailer, which then come showering down on my head every time I need to get in there. Just another reason to hate Live Oaks, and the beating the woodpeckers are giving to the office trailer have them on my Naughty list this year.

I think I had staples for one or the other of my wrist operations, Don. The nurse used a pliers type device to remove them, and the worst pain I felt was still less than a typical allergy shot. Most of them I felt nothing.

As of yesterday, our local hospital is showing a slight uptick in the number of CV19 admittances, but there's no sign of Omicron here yet. I found several news stories this morning that said two of the three available monoclonal antibodies available are ineffective against the new Omicron variant, and that supplies of the remaining one are severely strained. With all the holiday socializing, that could end up being a double whammy for the Covid numbers. One thing to keep in mind is that the current vaccines were never advertised as being able to provide immunity. Rather, they reduce the effects to limit hospital admissions and deaths. The Moderna vaccine seems to be better at that with Omicron, but people will still have breakthrough cases. Jim Cramer was diagnosed with Omicron last week, and all he got was a sore throat. I think he said he was vaccinated and boosted with Moderna.

Started gathering supplies for the trip next week, and since I've been buying herbs and spices in one pound containers I'll never use up before they spoil, I put together little care packages for two of my friends that like to cook. Now I need to find smaller bottles for the portions I have left to save some space in the spice cabinet.

I'd like to get some more sound deadening into the van, but when I looked up the temperature requirements for the adhesive, it was too cold yesterday. Looks like today or tomorrow might work later in the afternoon, though. And while I'm in town today I'll stop by a flooring store and see if I can snag a carpet remnant and some padding that'll help with noise, too.

Not much else on the dance card for today.

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!

62°F and another 4.25 inches rain. On the plus side of 214 inches ytd, 13.14 for this storm.

Sophie almost set for surgery, Covid test next Friday.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Jim Cramer the scammer?
Woodpeckers storing acorns, Never heard that, but have seen squirrels put them into some weird places.

We have been trying to get my lactose free half&half and butter. It seems to be out of stock in 90% of the places I look.
a store may have some 30 minutes away. ordered it for pickup and we will see.
Wife said stores are packed. Few masks.

Just got a text, out of stock, trying another place that might have them - ah, the holidays

Eric.
Thanksgiving for me was in October (Canadian), so I am more than ready for another turkey. I prefer turkey once in any month that ends in a (r). Specialty foods will include a sweet potato for me and roasted potatoes for the others. We may have brussel sprouts but I am not sure. No desert, but after the turkey settles I have a box of Black magic chocolates to demolish.

Eric, we are having turkey again for Christmas. Local supermarket also has ribeye roast on sale so Sophie picked up an almost 10 pounder and I’ve instruction that I will be doing both. Think a 15 pound turkey and the roast will suffice for 10 people? I’m really hoping for leftovers.
