Good morning!!!!

Good morning all.
Everything is on the internet:
the average dog bite settlement is $45,000 with small incidents settling for $10k in small claims court if it ever got there.
Insurance companies will likely pay $10k without blinking, particularly if permanent scarring.
All homeowner policies cover dog bites unless there is fine print excluding harboring known vicious animals or even breeds.

When She and I first spoke, I told her she probably needed to call the police and make a report. Apparently that did not occur yesterday, so we might need to do that today.

There's another aspect to it that we need to check out and that is whether the dog is in fact licensed (required by Ohio law) and whether it is current on its vaccinations, rabies in particular.

No matter what, whoever owns the dog that bit Roy's wife is 100 percent legally responsible.

Thanks for the info, good to know.

Yeah ... this is something we need to research further.

My understanding is that the hospital has already filed with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation ... since it happened "on the job".

I still need to get all the details so that I have a complete picture of what happened (and what was, or wasn't, done)
Don't forget your medical insurance will be suing the owner of the dog and you will be required to cooperate with them or they can deny coverage. Keep a detailed file. Keep a close eye on the injury 1 out 5 dog bites gets infected.

That's hard to imagine (the suing part that is, not the cooperation/denial of coverage)

Keep a close eye on the injury 1 out 5 dog bites gets infected.

She's down at the local pharmacy picking up the antibiotics they prescribed as I type this ... ;)

Lou, I think you misread this, as I clearly did.
No one is suggesting RS sue,
There is a 100% chance the medical insurance will sue the dog owner unless RS pays out of pocket for all medical expenses.

Not ever having had to go down this path before, I would assume that medical expenses would largely be covered by Ohio Workers' Compensation.

After that, it's probably Medicare and her supplemental insurance.

Whether any of them would be inclined to sue I have no idea.

Good morning to all! Low was a balmy 46, going up to 72 today. In between the "wind" until tomorrow. It was really gusty yesterday, up to 45 mph, so kept me inside. Tomorrow's wind could be up to 60. The wind is from the storm hitting the west coast. There is only a 20% chance of a shower here.....

Took yesterday as a "I'm not doing anything today", watched some motoGP, then some formula 1 racing, then some old westerns...., got my TV fill for sure! Went to bed early for a change.

RS, I hope the wife heals quickly. Watch carefully for any infection.....

RNG, glad you are getting some rain. The local news here had a brief story about that landslide.... a bunch of those rocks are enormous! We laughed at the dump truck / plow sitting on the road.... most of the rocks are 3-4x the size of the truck! Gona take a while and some BIG equipment to clear that!

Don, kinda disability pension..... some WC settlement / percentage paid out over 2 years, tapping my 401K, and backup savings to cover the deficit. This will cover us until I'm eligible for SS in a few years.

I still haven't got to spread out that pile of gravel..... I look at it and tell myself to maintain control.... kinda like a kid looking through the candy store window!

Everyone have a great day!

Don is talking about subrogation, how an insurance company, most insurance companies, are given very wide latitude in recovering monies paid
out for you in an workers comp proceeding, or auto, homeowners, most contracts. Workers comp has a lot of its own rules and regulations and every state
may have some peculiar limitations.

turned out to be nice warm day here, sun came out, got a little hot, rains not due in until after dinner now so got the leaves picked up, as they
came fluttering down while I was out there. Then vacuumed my truck and did a little waxing on it just to stay outside.

I picked what is probably last of the peppers, bet the rest get frozen but there's still a lot of them growing on the vine.
Roses are still happily blooming away along with those bushes nearby loaded with red berries. Neighbor's willow tree very pretty back drop.

They'll probably end up blasting those big'uns into smaller chunks before carting them away. The road's not gonna be open anytime soon because that was just one of many slides that took place. A lot of the road was underwater from the rising river, too, and that's bound to have caused even more damage.

Just went to put out some mail and nope, not before I clear a large branch from the driveway. Spotted several oaks that are down, too. Also looks like the tarp on the firewood pile got shredded, one of those recycled billboard things. Big waste of money that was.

I can't remember the last time I made a pizza. It's been years, since before we remodeled the house in 2016/17. I need to do that again. Homemade really is the best.

I did make lasagna yesterday ... and we have leftovers, too. (y)

I need to make another homemade pizza, still got 3 jars of the Mids sauce that I think RS recommended.

Got up to 78 before the big blast of wind and dark clouds drowned us in some sprinkles. :( Some real rain is still forecasted tonight. It's so dry here.

LS, congrats on entering retirement! Sorry your knee is still giving you such a time.

Bad news about your wife's dog bite, RS. Take good care of her!

Thomas, hope you get your "nagging-reduction" chore done.

BEF, super great trip and pix. Buppies, cool that you did the road at Peaks of Otter. Haven't been that far south in about 8 years.

Lou, lucky you...don't even have to get in the car to get a mountain fix.

The hot water thermostat I ordered came, and I installed it Saturday...working great so far. Was a more simple job than I expected.

Got my painting finished yesterday after 11 straight hours...seems like 3 hours of prep and clean-up per 1 hour of actual painting...I had to measure, cut, and tape plastic over 10 windows and some trim...so up and down the ladder many times...then airless spraying, which is many more ladder trips...it's a pretty tall wall, so went through 3.5 gallons...but the sprayer does such a nice job. I then clean the pump, hose, filter, and disassemble the gun for more cleaning. Then pump storage anti-freeze solution into it. It's a 7 year old sprayer, so taking good care of it has paid off. I wear a 3M ventilator, goggles long sleeves and rubber gloves...3600 psi of paint (solid stain) into the skin is a serious injury.

My wife and I went out to breakfast and took her vehicle to the Toyota dealer this morning for the annual state safety inspection. They do inspections free. I had also asked for tire rotation and balance. The service rep called me a few minutes later and said that although the tires still had plenty of tread to pass inspection, I should skip the rotation and balance since we'd need new tires soon. What a nice thing they were willing to forego revenue by treating the customer right. Especially since they had almost no new vehicles on their lot to sell...saw no cars, 6 pickups, 2 mini vans and 3 SUVs...normally they'd easily have over 150 vehicles. I noticed the same lack of inventory at the Ford and Chevy dealers we drove by.

We were next door to where I got my Moderna's so we went in and tried to get a walk-in booster...they could only do boosters with an appointment, so I got on my phone and saw the next one was at 2:30pm, but we didn't have time to wait that late. Made appointments for next week.

Good evening all. 52F for the start, mostly clear, light breeze. Light wind today, partly cloudy sky, and high temp was 81F, DP 51F. Boat prep for carp netting today, Fish survey(shock boat) people showed up at 11AM and it was off to shock the fish. The survey people net the large mouth bass, weigh and measure the and release them. Fish club had 2 boats to follow and remove carp and drum. Pic was after 2hours, my netter had to go to work. Much harder to drive and net. Carp only stay shocked for 5-10 seconds and were mostly close to docks. We were seeing more bait fish and young bass that had spawned in lake, had not seen much of that past couple of years. Pulled boat out of lake shortly after 3PM. Did get it backed in driveway and took short nap.

42° right now...high in the low 50's and rain...

Gonna be a quick trip to work to pick up my laptop, than back home. Wife and stepdaughter made some plans...unfortunately, without consulting me. That lead to a "discussion".
Well, I was going to leave early today anyway...appointment with a cardiologist this afternoon.

Beautiful pics of the Skyline Drive, BEF!! Brings back memories from a long, long time ago!!

Coffee is done brewing. 41° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 48° with slight chance of some sun in afternoon. Got another .88" of rain. Had nothing planned yesterday and got it all done. Going to move all the stuff that will freeze to cellar today. Take Sassy to groomer. Do a little bit of shopping while waiting for her to get done.

good morning all.
rained all night, about 1.7 inches on gauge, expect another half inch or more today into tonight.
A very wet day for sure and I have to drive around in it, first to get blood work done at hospital at 7am(I need to get moving...)
and then pick up sandwiches for lunch around noon.

I cooked the meat loaf last night, made too much as usual so got to nibble on the extra piece. It will do, particularly with some nice rich
gravy on it; bought some heavy cream which I never normaly use but should make the gravy a little thicker and yummy

Dennis, awesome pics, thanks for taking us along.

Mostly, that's quite a haul of carp. Real nice you guys help out. Glad you saw some young bass.

Need to go on a hike this morning and roast coffee later.

55 outside right now, heading to mid 60's.

Rain came through yesterday at 5PM. Just in time for quitting time on the drain field. Only two more tile lines left. Not sure if they can work today since the soils is now....wet. Seems wet....is bad, very very bad.

I worked on re-arranging some hot wire lines yesterday. Ever try and get a grounding rod out of the ground? Man I had to break out the post hole digger on a few. Not good. Ended well. fence is re-done.

Hope all have a good day today, those in need, get healthy and heal.

Be safe.
