Good morning!!!!

Thomas, your wife can send them down here, we need more hunters.
4 legged tick machine ate every one of my pretty yellow mum flowers off the planter closest to the road.
After this rain is finally done, I have to go back out and spray those plants down again.
It wears off and if it smells good and tastes good, it's just a fine day for a foraging animal.

neighbor across the street who has lived their 50+ years looks out her bedroom window at night and doesn't like looking at all the lights
on my house. She complained nicely about it and I'm thinking, why not just shut your curtains at night? I do...
I explained to her the old adage about crooks and Hollywood; crooks hate lights and cameras. So I had 3 60 watt LED lightbulbs running all night, I think
each consumes 15 watts. So nice cheap protection.
well.........
So the one light that used to shine on my US flag is now dark at night.
We all know it should be lit at night or taken down.
It's quite a stretch to get to and I was very happy to leave the flag up with the light on at night.
I think I need to get a more focused spot bulb or something but have it focused away from across the street.
I've known this lady a very long time and she is getting pretty cranky in her advancing years, not helped by a bad hip that has her
in pain. I wonder if there is a flag pole with a light built in... Wall mount with smaller flag

Municipal building and police station one block away. So for now I turned off the front lights and only run the side light by the entrance door at night.
I'm open to all suggestions.

got labs done, now some more housecleaning.

Drew,

We have this one from Amazon. It works great.

46F with light rain @ 11:00, headed up to a high of 50F for the day. Rain chances decreasing throughout the day. Cold front came through last night, winds are still blowing 15 - 25 today.

Took trash and recycles up to the road yesterday first thing, plus some more cardboard up to the shop for fire starter. Also grabbed a bucketload of that old siding and broke it up and put it in the can. Probably another month of that before it will all be gone.

Took the Cub and dump trailer up to the compost pile and cleaned off all the grass and leaves with the Stihl blower after that.

Then I gathered up the four day lilies I got from Menards last week and took those around back and got them put in the ground in that little planting box at the southeast corner of the house.

That took some time as they required a good bit of work to loosen up and disentangle/separate the roots, as they had become pretty root-bound, probably from sitting in those little pots at Menards all summer long:

About the time I was finishing up with that it was starting to sprinkle and The Woman came to window wanting to know what I was doing and to let me know rain was imminent so I went ahead and came on inside.

Yesterday's colors:

Gonna say we are pretty close to peak, if not at it.

The Woman contacted county dog warden after she got back yesterday and made a report. Dog warden said he would forward the info on to the Sheriff's Department which he apparently did, as She got a call from them a little later in the afternoon where they took her info. She may go up later today and file a formal report/complaint or whatever it is.

I joked about the "vicious" dog yesterday, but she was pretty distraught when I spoke to her initially (just after it happened) and her shoe and sock were soaked with blood and there was puddle of it in the back of her van apparently ... o_O

Today's agenda:

Refill hopper feeder and get those two sunflower tube feeders put back out.

Also suet feeders.

Clean up and oil work boots, install new laces and insoles

Probably more cleaning inside.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

RS-I got bit by a large dog when I was a kid, it can be quite traumatic.
Hope all this works out ok and she heals up physically and mentally.
Having friendly dogs around helped me.

65°F and .05 inches rain. Sun shining.

Got a good work area cleanup yesterday in prep for rehabbing those cabinets I scored on CL. Got a good start on my baseboard. Opted for the half tile in bathroom. Not a great pic, but shows the idea.

. Will finish cleaning that up this morning then back to main floor.

Ripping my flooring planks for main area. That installation involves a foam tube and silicone for waterproofing

Randy, what size crew did your gorgeous floors?

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning to all! Low was at 49, quickly went up to 58 by 8 am. It was only breezy, so decided to put up a few trim pieces (4 corner trim) on the garden shed..... of course, the wind kicked up and started the blowing dirt / dust......

The son was helping, so we were able to get 2 out of 4 corners before he got a call to go to work.... I got the third one done before a brief shower chased me to close up the shop doors and get inside....
The temp dropped back down to 46 during the shower. We didn't get enough rain to even register in the gauge...... just make it an inconvenience.

The sun is back out, temp slowly rising back up. Wind back to a nice breeze.... I will try to sneak back out to finish that last corner, then call it quits for the day!

BEF, thanks for posting the beautiful pics! I miss all the fall colors back East. We have mostly tall pines here with just a few clusters of aspens spread about. At least they turn a nice yellow to add some color.

Mostly, that was quite the catch of the carp..... probably a never ending battle for sure!

Drew, sorry to hear about the mums. I hope the deterrent works....

I am going to quickly take advantage of the weather break and get that last corner done.....

Everyone have a great day!

Or maybe you could get here one of these, Drew. Besides blocking out the light when she pulls it down over her eyes, it'll keep her head warm on those frosty winter nights. At least that's how I use mine...

Man there is a job I need to get to. What are you using for oil?

We have been having some beautiful afternoons the last couple of weeks. Last Wed. I had to stop mowing and just take it in. A little bit of perfect.
Yesterday I was in the shop looking for some galvanized carriage bolts. I never did find them but I did find the transmission seals that have been holding up the JD 455 project. My filing system leaves something to be desired.
The lawns are slowing down a little but the leaves are making up the difference. Still not much color in the trees just a bright one here and there.
I saw a Youtube video on making a smokeless burn barrel. Wish the neighbors at the farm world take a look at that video.
Cloudy and getting colder. Threatening rain.

Chris

RS-I got bit by a large dog when I was a kid, it can be quite traumatic.

I've never been seriously bit by a dog as far as I can recall, just the odd nip ... but I would imagine so.

This isn't the first time it has happened to her but it's by far the worst.

Hope all this works out ok and she heals up physically and mentally.

Thanks.

Day before yesterday scammers managed to take over my computer while I was watching a video on Facebook. I noticed the mouse cursor doing things. Then a window popped up telling me to ring a number. Lots of BS followed and I told them where to go. They got nasty and then the mouse cursor started selecting everything on my screen and deleting it. They wiped my Laptop before I could turn it off. Couldn't disconnect the internet as my mouse wouldn't work.
Anyway long story short they deleted my external drive and backups as well. My other Laptop couldn't read my external drive so I took it to my Mac and ran First Aid and managed to get it going to the point it worked enough to get my files back.
Then I did a new install of Windows 11 and it was up and running again. Win 11 then repaired my external drive properly. (good job) and I was able to restore everything back as it was. So after about 6 and a half hours everything was back to normal. Very scary as my Laptop was only a few months old and cost me $1500.

One again the NWS weather guessers are forecasting a 100% chance of rain. It had been for this evening and tonight, but they keep moving it forward so the current estimate is to start at 4 a.m. in the morning which will be great if it happens because I usually get up about 4 a.m.

I had two technicians from Spectrum here again at 8 a.m. this morning. My Internet service has been coming and going at different times nearly every day. And when I lose the Internet, the house phone also doesn't work, and while the TV usually keeps working, the guide doesn't and interruptions with the screen showing "Firmware Update In Progress don't turn off your TV" happens a couple of times a day.

A month ago, I had a Spectrum technician out here, he checked signals in the house, outside, and at the top of the power pole and found a weak signal everywhere. It seems the line is down from the poles just on the top of the fences north of our place. So the technician, who arrives in a van, of course, said he made a report for a line worker to come the next day to put the line back up. So the next day, an older gentleman came in the big truck. He also went up the pole for awhile, then said he'd have to report it to his boss who would send it on to another division for them to send a 2 man crew to fix it. He did say it might take awhile since his boss would have to send the report to his boss, then that boss would have to send the report to another division in the company, etc., etc.

Yesterday morning service went down and was still down yesterday everning, so I called again, and this morning two young men checked the lines outside, in the attic, here at my desk, AND at the pole. At least service was finally restored although they admitted they have no idea why or what did it. But they said it usually takes 40 to 60 days to get a line crew out and it's now been 30 days so they assured me it should be fixed in 2 to 4 weeks.

Alien, any idea how they got control? What remote software they were using? Probably not because of the video.
