Alien, any idea how they got control? What remote software they were using? Probably not because of the video.
I have no idea Buckeye/mostly gas. I didn't give any permissions but they got in. I doubt it had anything to do with the video. Just watching a wolf chasing an Elk. It just suddenly locked up. Anyway Win11 supposedly has stronger security.

45° right now...high in the mid-50's today...rain's pretty much done...but the weekend forecast looks pretty wet.
10 Day forecast is calling for snow showers late next week...guess that's about due

Just heated up Wifey's heating pad and made her a cuppa coffee (she likes Keurig, I make "real" coffee in a drip type coffee pot)

Since the rain is done, I'll want to get outside to put a bird feeder up and prep it. I expect the bears will be pretty much in hibernation by this time. Once I do my part, it's be up to tree-huggin' Stepdaughter to keep it filled....but I'm sure I'll be doing that most of the time.

Cardiologist (it was actually a PA (Physician's Assistant) visit went OK. Basically, just a review of the meds I'm taking a quick check of my heartbeat. We could have done this on the phone and saved some time

On the way home from that hospital, I stopped at the local Central Supply (ACE) store and picked up 2 cans of their Rust-Oleum equivalent. Should be dry enough for me to finish touching up the snow blower. Also, may as well rig the extension cord to the Deere's block heater. Won't plug it into an outlet, but rather do it before the weather gets to the point I'll need it

Good morning! 43 now, 58 later. Dry today.

Finally did it. March 31, 2022 is my final work day! I agreed to go to March to help do a service school and to train a new hire. Hopefully they find someone better than the last one.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Poured first cup of coffee. 41° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 55° with cloudy skies. Sassy is happy with her grooming yesterday. Shopping is almost does. Need a trip to Sams Club for more grocery and gas. Now $3.10 per gallon. Got all the stuff that will freeze put away in cellar. After Sam's club need to wash Mule. Then winterize power washer. Put hoses away for the winter.
How far can a Sandhill Crane get its beak into ground. This one was poking in a Mole run.

Mostly, it was a Texas Get Together. One of the attendees did it for a living. Brought his equipment as part of the Get together. Cannot find who the member was who brought the boat.

Alien, good you got computer back up running. Maybe it was MS wanting you to switch to Window 11.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Just went outside and the wind is still whipping the wind chimes. Should grow from 53 up to 70 and sunny, but stay windy.

Alien, that's a concerning story about your hackers. Glad you got it corrected.

Mostly, I agree with your approach to the U.S. Flag.

Bird, congrats on the rain...it feels so good, right? You, too RNG? or are you getting too much?

Was a busy coffee day yesterday...drank some, then roasted some, then updated the software and firmware, then did a take down of part and performed a thorough cleaning...now to see if it still works. 😁

Good morning, the low is 42 and the high will be up to 54°F Wind NNE 8 mph. Sunny!

Today will be a good day to do the trailer wiring.

We do container gardening and today will also would be a good day to put them to bed for the winter. They overwinter in the old chicken house. There is also a greenhouse roof to dismantle.
There are lots of piddly little jobs to do, I certainly wont get bored.

The comparison between the old (3 yrs) Regency wood stove that is supposed to heat 2400 sq. feet and the new Drolet wood furnace is out of this world.
The Regency would take all day to get the basement up to 72°F and the Drolet wood furnace takes about an hour. We don't jam the firebox full on the Drolet, yet. When the overnight temps get down to below zero, then we will be filling the box up for overnighters.

Yesterday evening I caught SiriusXM satellite radio fraudulently taking money off me for monthly payments when my 2 year plan doesn't expire until July of 2022. They will get an earful today. I think I will go straight to the top on this. I've already emailed them and they have 'till 10 A.M. (but they don't know that) and then I will be getting on the phone. I've been a SiriusXM customer since 2007 and this is the first time I have caught them double billing. So far they have stung me out of $86.60.

Have a safe day all

52 outside this AM. Heading to lower 70's. Nice and windy, is drying things up fast.

More digging today on septic/drain field. Hooked up to houses yesterday. Bypassed lots of old pipes. Got to examine old tank and watched the fill in. Tank was a lot smaller than anyone expected. Stuck another cleanout on a line I can tie into in the future. Need to hookup one more building and the cleanout will provide a nice reference on where to dig. LOL. Inspection is set for tomorrow and then we get to do some final grading work and get these guys out of here. They have done a nice job so far.

Hope all have a great hump day. Be safe. Get well soon to those ailing.

good morning all
warmer 56 out now going up to 68, should be a nice sunny day

worn out from entertaining yesterday, need lots of coffee this morning.
Meat loaf for dinner turned out well, now I have to chop fresh fruit for breakfast.
This is actually a fair amount of work for one person...maybe next time I'll put them up in a B&B.
Besides my friend snores so loud it comes through the bedroom wall...wonder how his wife deals with that.

thanks for all ideas on flagpole lights. My challenge is this is a small flagpole and a small flag, maybe four feet long for pole. Ads say 15 foot poles or maybe it's strong enough
for a pole that length. Going to study your ideas though RNG I like your little hat idea. I think a spot beam instead of a flood light is the answer, not sure how to accomplish that with current
lamp fixture. A light on the end of the pole would actually be perfect. Maybe they have a small model.

I got into quite a discussion with my younger sister over flags. She thinks flying a big US flag is making a right wing political statement. ?? Sigh. No.
(remember she is a California girl...)
I have always revered the flag, always thought of my father and uncle in South Pacific in WWII and it gets personal because I want to honor them.
The flag is a symbol of our freedom and democracy, politicians come and go. Need to remind my sister we would not have been born if our Father
did not come back from doing his duty.

Rich, congrats on the news. Whole new future ahead of you.

   / Good morning!!!! #140,373
Rich, good news. Some days it will seem like March 31, 2022 will never get here. Then it will be "now what do I do". Company that I worked for was still calling me 5 years later. They paid me well for that time. Helped me make the adjustment to my new life.

While looking for the thread that had the fish shocking post in it. I ran across this one. Near the end was post from Jinman about a visit to his and Kathy's place. I still get giggles from it.

Only in Texas, Don and Harv doing.
this is fun to read through
Texas guys had quite an organization here going way back
and what impressed me was the wives joining in.
To quote Harv:
One of the best, very very best, things about this group is the hardcore are couples. You can't be around the Birds, or Jim and Kathy, or Don and Karen, or James and Barb, or Mike and Bernice, etc and so on and not get the feeling that marriage is a good thing. Every meeting we've had the wives have enjoyed it at least as much as us guys have.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 4:30AM. Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine. High 69F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Bruce, my first year here, it started raining at the end of November and rained every day until January. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but after so many years of drought, I wouldn't mind at all if the weather did something similar this year. But in all honesty, I'd prefer a mix of sun and showers, which is pretty much what the 10-day is predicting.

That's pretty scary, Doug. Do you have Zoom or some other kind of XWindow or remote monitoring software installed on your system? That could have been hacked. Glad you got everything recovered and back up and running again.

Congratualations on setting the date, Rich. Won't be long now before you start wondering how you ever had time to work a full time job. 👍

Sounds like good progress at last, Mike. Hope you and the crew don't find any more surprises.

They say as goes California so goes the nation, Drew. I sure hope not.

Glad you got some rain, Bird. Is it time to start shopping for a new internet/TV provider?

Noticed a young forked horn buck hanging out with a half dozen does when I went out to retrieve the eight foot step ladder yesterday. Maybe it's time they're starting another crop of the miserable, flea and tick ridden varmints?

It's nice when being a pack rat pays off. Got a call from a neighbor asking if he could borrow a power cord so he could charge his laser level. I have a box full of 'em, salvaged from oh so many discarded electronic components, so I just gave him one. That led to a nice catch up session when he came over to get it. It's only been raining for a week, and we're both feeling a little cooped up. 😄

I'd already got the extension ladder put up on one end of the house to mount another one of those LED lights, and our little yak session made time for a brief rain shower to come in while I was up there drilling holes. Wind came up and the temperature dropped at the same time. I don't like being up on ladders on a nice day, so finished putting that one up and called it quits on that job for the day. Came inside, fired up the wood stove to chase away the chill, and had some lunch. Spent the rest of the day working on computer upgrades, getting pretty close to something that looks like it'll work. More ladder work today, with some quality time running wire in the attic.

Hump Day already...

Good Morning.
It’s 55 and get to 65 today.
The rain is finished, but the wind is picking up.
As I suspected, the Davis rain gauge agreed with the good old funnel gauge. We got a total rain of 2.7 inches for the whole event.

Spent yesterday cleaning, organizing and working on the computer. Had to get a PowerPoint training presentation ready for today, and make sure the projector and large screen TV worked with the computer which doesn’t have an HDMI output. Got it all set, and now I have another day, as the person coming for training postponed till tomorrow due to today’s forecast high winds.

I’m sure that I won’t have any difficulty finding things to do for today, it will be interesting to see if the wind brings down any trees or limbs.

   / Good morning!!!! #140,378
Morning all, wet, windy, more trees falling.

Alien - sorry to hear about your woes-amazing what can happen with one click on a bad link. My father clicked on the link by mistake and similar stuff happened, he had to change credit cards and his checking account.

Bird- it took over three weeks for the Comcast crew to come replace my underground line. Hopefully your above ground one will be faster.

Rich-date set and all good to go!

wngsprd- bears prepping to hibernate- we have them cross the river to here every now and then, they then get relocated back across the river. Mama's with baby's can be tough to deal with, so hopefully just passing through.

PopG- the new Macs coming out this week or so actually have HDMI ports! And a high price tag to match....

Stay safe and be well,

A very damp and chili 55 headed to 66, windy but easing a bit.
We had .66” of rain for the past event, not near as much as predicted or needed. Looks like late week will rectify this.
Wore jeans to the meeting last night, first time since March.

Cleaning lady asked me what to use on the new floors, I told her a damp mop. I had some old fashioned laminate ruined a few years ago from a cleaning lady using wax on it. This has grain and imperfections like genuine wood so it wouldn’t do well with coatings anyway.

I’m sitting in the lab waiting for a blood draw I’m ready for some breakfast.

Not sure what I’m doing later today, but the weather may dictate it be indoors.

I wish a rapid recovery for all the sick and injured.
