Rearranged the valves between the two tanks so the deep well pump could force water to the top tank drain line. The water pressure gauge immediately began to creep up, so I took a walk up the trench to make sure there were no leaks in the lines. When I got to the upper tank, there was lots of gurgiling noises coming from the riser out of the bottom of the trench. The air was being forced up into the tank, making bubbles. We'll see if the pump will run long enough to get them all out before the well dries out, but it looks like I've confirmed that air in the drain line is the problem. I just wonder why pumping from the water truck didn't take care of it.
Makes perfect sense. Air in the column does not add weight to push up psi. You need a bleeder valve like an impala v6 engine. LOL.

Hope your deep well holds up.

Happy Anniversary PJ and wifey!

My wife and I will have been married 20 years tomorrow. Taking the whole family to the steakhouse.

A guy from the city called me and told me they have the tennis court lights fixed now. Maybe try them out Thursday or Friday. It's hot. Hard to get motivated.

Got encouraging news on my buddy (who's on the ventilator). His O2 numbers are getting better, as they reduce the O2 administered. He's under sedation. I selfishly hope he comes back to work soon....I have electric motor questions for him. He's a MacGuyver type. Prayers are being answered.

Prayers for our Team! And for America!

80F and clear @ 21:00, high hit 90.9F today ... and it was warm out there. Nonetheless, we were out in it all day long (except for lunch and dinner breaks)

Started off doing a little further clean up on the east bed along the woods.

When I went up to take a bucketload to the compost pile I noticed that the backside of the shop was all in shade so I suggested to The Woman that we head up there and get that weeded while the sun and heat wasn't so bad. She was on board ... mainly because she knew how easy the weeds come up.

We got that pretty well cleaned out and I added more composted soil to the bed after lunch but didn't complete that as the sun had moved around to where I would have to be standing in the sun to complete it. Hosta seems to be doing very well, soil very moist despite not having been watered lately other than rain:

(Hopefully get that wall pressure-washed in the next couple of days and then the bed will get mulched)

We took a break in there for lunch as I mentioned and she ran out to Jimmy John's and grabbed us a couple of sandwiches. We ended up splitting one, which was plenty given the heat.

Post lunch I went downstairs and refilled the hopper, two sunflower tube, and one suet feeder.

After the bed on the back side of the shop we moved over to the circle around the big maple tree and weeded that - which went quick because there wasn't much. After that we started mulching it.

When I went to maneuver on the east side to dump a bucketload of mulch, there were some logs on the ground that were in my way ... so I dropped the box blade a little and backed up to where I was straight on to where I wanted to dump. That was followed by The Woman dancing around and frantically waving her arms. Glad someone was paying attention.

Apparently there was a yellow jacket nest back there somewhere and they did not appreciate the disturbance:

Fortunately no one got stung ... (y)

Since we were mostly done at that point and she was pretty hot, she decided to head down to the house and start dinner (Thai Chicken in a peanut sauce)

I did a little more work on it and then headed down myself. Still need to mulch around the individual plants, but the outside ring and up against the tree are done:

After we ate dinner we headed back out and I dropped the bucket and put the pallet forks on and grabbed the pallet with the full 65 gallon tank of water.

First stop was the rhododendron I had pruned yesterday. We gave that another 2.5 gallons with 2.5 teaspoons of what used to be called Mir-Acid (now Miracle Grow for Acid-loving Plants)

Then we hit the hosta around the maple tree (pictured above), that got another 7 watering cans (17.5 gallons)

Finally we hit the hosta I didn't get watered yesterday on northwest planting bed to finish it. That required a little "night ops" ... because it was at the point where ya literally couldn't see to water anything :

Now all that's left is to go down and feed the fish and grab a shower.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

The LevelQuik from HD was great. As with many things the prep work was more than the actual application. Once prepped and primed I mixed up 2 bags. Had found a YouTube video where the guy just poured and let it level, no special tools. I almost did that, just using a garden rake to move a bit toward my edges. Estimating about a 1/4 inch layer.

After 4 hours it was walkable, but I used a 2x6 to bridge into shower and applied 1st coat of Redgard.
