Henri's rain pretty much missed us...relatively light showers on and off most of the day, but no torrential downpours.
Heading to a body shop...maybe 2, to get an estimate (or 2) on the Tacoma next Monday. I had work at one of them a few years ago when a limb fell on the truck. They did a pretty nice job then...also, they provide a rental vehicle...at a price, of course.
So, two estimates, maybe...give the insurance company something to chew on...

Your math is fine as far as the numbers go.
1 PSI is equal to 27.707 inches of 60F water,
so, 67 x 12 = 804 inches / 27.707 = 29.0179 psi.

As far as calculating I would expect your water is warmer then 60F so the density would be a tiny bit less.

Also almost all gauges are notoriously inaccurate in the bottom 10% and the top 10% of there span,
If that is a static non flowing measurement there would be no friction losses.
If the elevation is derived from your phone or gps they are often inaccurate.
I recall a few years ago my wife and I went to Florida over Christmas and as I'm driving down the main highway my gps is indicating -60 feet of elevation.

If that pressure is while water is flowing past the gauge the venturi effect and line friction would play a large part in your numbers.
Thanks for confirming the math, Lou.

The measurements are with static water, with the down slope valve past the gauge closed.

Both of the gauges I've tried are 0-60 PSI, so ~30 should be right in the sweet spot.

Yes, I did take the elevation measurements with a GPS, but minute of eyeball from the bottom of the hill makes that 67 foot measure seem reasonable. Can't see the tank from the bottom of the hill, so I can't use the technique in that video I flagged for Drew, but I don't think the elevation is off by more than ten feet.

When I unscrewed the first gauge, I slipped my thumb over the 1/4" pipe thread opening and was able to stop the flow of water. Not sure I'd be able to do that at 30 PSI.

The route the plastic pipe takes down the hill has lots of ups and downs (I'm kinda a crappy backhoe operator), so there's a pretty good chance there's still air in the line. I know air is compressible, but it seems to me it should still "transmit" pressure above an air pocket to the incompressible liquid below. Maybe I should break out my old college physics book and brush up on my pressure mojo?

RNG again your ability and knowledge astounds me. I can search for things and never find them. Thanks for sharing
And I can put something down on the workbench right in front of me and spend an hour looking for it.

Guess it kinda evens out, huh? :ROFLMAO: ;)

Overwhelmingly in most cultures the mantis is a symbol of stillness.
As such, she is an ambassador from the animal kingdom giving testimony to the benefits of meditation,
and calming our minds. An appearance from the mantis is a message to be still, go within, meditate, get quite and reach a place of calm.

strange take on an apex predator; tons of youtube videos on how ferocious these bugs are
of course it does sit there like a quiet stick, blending in, waiting for its next meal.
maybe it is meditating, who knows...
interesting I was told early on by parents to leave that bug alone, not to hurt it, that it was a good bug like a lady bug.

We called the males walking sticks.

Back home from my 2000 mile journey to get my youngest back to college, 700 miles today. This is his last semester, graduates in December in Business Information Systems with minor in Network Security.
We stayed with old friends, had a good visit. Also stayed with our other son both directions, so no hotels this trip. The easiest move I’ve done.
And successfully went across the newly reopened I40 Memphis bridge twice.

Didn't do much during the day Sunday. Too hot and humid.

After church, sprayed a bit of round up trying to kill some nutsedge in my little front bed with 3 tiny rose bushes....2 rose bushes went to rose bush heaven after accidentally getting weed whacked, due to high grass growing amongst them.... then went to walmart for a handful of items.

At 7:30 when the sun was almost down, we went to the city's old tennis courts and batted the balls around a bit. I took it easy, still having shoulder/elbow problems from wreck back in May. It was hot. Maybe a good thing the court's lights wouldn't come on. cut us short on time.

My good friend at work is still on ventilator.

My other friend found a super clean Kuhn GM 280 hay cutter from a guy he knows, not too far away. He's already bought it. He got heat exhaustion today.

I took the Gator HPX carburetor apart for the 3rd or 4th time (in the last month)....I turned on the key to see if fuel comes flowing into the venturi ports..nothing noticeable. Then I held a clear tube connected to the bowl's drain adjacent and the fuel level looked OK, maybe 5-8 mm from the top of the bowl. I then took the bowl off and brought the carb inside to look at the brass seat (that the needle fits into). Either it is worn out, or it was made poorly. Not a good chamfer, nor a good finish. It almost looked "grainy". Maybe that's wear and tear. Anyway, I could see how that could leak. I'm going to take it to work and attempt to polish it with maybe a small 3-4mm wooden dowel. If I cant get it righteous, I'll put some threads in it and pull it out to make a new one.

Friend's new to him Toy hauler. weighs 18,000lbs. We used a 5th wheel he had purchased, but the previous owner threw in a hitch with air bags. I'm hoping the airbags help, that thing shook the truck fore and aft so much, it was uncomfortable. Is that normal?
