Maybe another sign
“SMILE,
THIS IS A PIC OF YOU
NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS”

I kind of like that idea, David. May have to relocate one of the game cameras this weekend.

Maybe lay a sign on the step that says, "ARE YOU FOLLOWING THE DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS?"

My Wife has determined that she will send a review to Amazon with every delivery, as one of the options is "Did not follow delivery instructions." Maybe enough negative reviews will get their attention.

Good morning! 31˚F heavy frost, heading to the 50s north wind, lots of sun.

DFtodd, YEA!!!!!!

The preemie in our family came home right before Christmas - great nephew. Christiy's sister's child. For the new people on GM, Christy is my Aligator capturing niece, recently changed careers to a realtor.

RNG which phone did you end up getting. I keep looking at the smaller iPhone 12 but I found, like you, no deals to be had. I was kind of hopping you would find one and I could use your research.

I'm beginning to wonder if the supply chain supply for the vaccine is drying up. For over a week there are no new reports of vaccines being replenished. All the web sites say is: " Looking for COVID-19 vaccine info? We're working with the state of Texas and the CDC to provide COVID-19 vaccines when they're available to the public."

Buckeye, since delivery people have been document here as not reading, there is a good chance the stamp money was mistaken for a Christmas gift.

Wngsprd, very well said.

Today at 4:00 PM here is must see TV: Alex Trebek's last aired 'Jeopardy'.

Turkeys on the frosty golf course this morning, social distancing.

turkeys are ugly birds but fine eating

Maybe enough negative reviews will get their attention. I think maybe they are too big for that and they sub out delivery too much.
My account is permanently noted for side door delivery, which is the entrance to the home, following a walkway.
Front door to home is not used, no walkway to it. Well sure enough my pc dinged yesterday telling me Amazon just made
a delivery. That part of their tech they have down very well, almost instant notification of delivery. But the package was not by the side door, not
where they deliver to almost every day, but out near the front door, and they have the gall to confirm in their notice that they hadn't looked at my
account delivery info at all. Delivered to Front Door. Really? And why would you do that?...
Most likely they are going too fast. Today packages get delivered by all kinds of private carriers, have no idea who will finally wind up delivering package.
Amazon drivers in their own vans aren't the problem I think, it's the private delivery people.

I wish Amazon could deliver a vaccine pill to me. Well, two pills. Trying to inject the entire world using the infrastructure already worn out from Covid care
isn't a promising idea. My 1C friends in Tampa have an appointment next week for their shots. Is there a tracking website that shows where the doses have gone?

Good morning all, 25 going up to 41 and sunny
Got my LED light bar for the ROPs yesterday, put on ROPs , will see if I get time to wire up today.
Removed some Christmas lights from yard, almost have the wife convinced to take ornaments off the tree so I can get it outside.

DFTodd - Congratulations - always great to have a new TBN member
Mostly - do you have a picture of the Peugeot, Mine was stolen when I was 13, really missed that bike as it was my freedom to cruise around
Drew - just use stabil, so the battery is for the fuel injection? Geez that is a lot of tech for a snow blower
Wngsprd - glad you got a hike in.

We have packages from Fedex get delivered over a 600-700 foot range from the house (and sometimes to the wrong house). Yesterday the Fedex driver came to the front door.
Waiting for the sky to fall :)

Stay safe and be well. USPS says may hard drives will arrive today. Not holding mu breath.

Back to my project, 3 more sites cutting over today.

Good morning! 25 now, maybe 32 later. Still cloudy.

Gas well must have froze last night. House was a bit cool when I woke up. Had to restarts the furnace and water heater. Working fine now. Good thing we have the wood burner! Tho it needs cleaned, downside of a fireplace insert. Maybe later I will let it cool down.

Seems work needs to have another conference call. They thought they knew how to do warranty reports, until they actually tried to do warranty reports......it isn稚 as easy as it seems.

Everyone stay safe out there!

26 early, 37 now and cloudy again after one day of sun in the last week. Gordy morning chores done, watching Perry Mason then see what I can get into.
Have a good day.

Amazon drivers in their own vans aren't the problem I think, it's the private delivery people.

When they first started with their own deliveries, we had a slew of different drivers in different vehicles, and it was a mess. Over the last few months, though, it's always been an Amazon delivery truck (One of those tall skinny ugly vans), and almost always the same guy.

To me, it doesn't really matter who it is. They are simply not following delivery instructions. If Amazon is not willing to enforce this, then they should remove that option from their website and just tell people that the packages will be delivered wherever they feel like leaving them. Because, that's pretty much the reality anyway. This is such a basic thing, I don't understand why it's so hard to get right.

Texas will be getting the covid vaccination info Sunday according to the TX health dept.:
"The week of January 11, Texas will direct most COVID-19 vaccines received to large sites or hubs around the state to vaccinate more than 100,000 people.
Hub providers will be published Sunday, January 10. Please check back."

Drew we also are having pizza today. I started two days ago with the sourdough starter. Fed it good, added the spices per recipe and this morning added flour to make a dough. it's in the oven now proofing (100˚F) for a few hours. I used the pizza dough recipe from the winter Forks over Knives Magazine, the same one that had the cookie recipes. The only change I'm making is adding the whole wheat starter in the dough and adding the extra proofing time.

Yep sadly, the mainstream media is casting large stones, with HUGE logs in their eyes.

Good morning, this Scandinavian weather has now brought a second day without rain or snow, the sun is shining brightly and that low in the sky that it needs a good deal of squinting when facing south.

A delivery van pulled up outside this morning, which was strange as neither of us had ordered anything. The driver left a parcel and inside was an even stranger metal box. At first glance it looked typical of the fire control panels I have worked on for many years. On closer inspection though the text beside the indicators and push buttons was not at all standard and inside, instead of circuit boards, it contained whisky and a very nice note from the people I used to work with.

Popgadget, you certainly get to work/play with a wide variety of stuff ! If your son doesn't mind revealing details of his gun project, I am intrigued to learn what you were pressing onto his barrel.

A sheep owner's liquor locker....that is awesome.

Good morning, such a nice change this week to have relatively dry weather, even if it is below freezing.

Popgadget, fascinating as it is, I dare not comment on your barrel work in case they call out a swat team to pounce on me for being associated with an Ak47 gun making forum  :)

Sodamo, that Verizon tower looks in a great place for reception. Doubt you will need to, but in that situation tweaking for optimum reception is generally best done at night. Why ? Still air gives more consistent propagation of radio waves ? Nah, just thinking less chance in the dark of you getting caught taking chainsaw to neighbor's trees. :D

Bow saws are much quieter, but now that we know the trees are Sophie's....we best not.

Pulled into my drive right behind the UPS truck delivering the new computer. Tracking said it went from Gaithersburg, to Baltimore, back up to Frederick, then delivered. It was shipped out of the Costco warehouse just down the road from me.
Think I値l let my college kid have it.

Whaddidyagit?

29 going to 46 and sunny. Getting ready to go outside and see the Space Station...I signed up for their notification emails and got one for 6:05am and exactly where to look...it "lasts" 3 minutes.

Rick, glad you're getting your shot soon.

Cancelled mountain hiking trip...threw back out yesterday.

Hope your's and Ron's backs get better soon. Hope Coco is doing well.

Good morning all. A chilly -8C/17F here. At least no liquid mud

Wng, hope with rest and plenty of heat from the woodburner it won't be that long until you are back on the trail.

When I first got these fields I noticed the oldest still surviving softwood gates and straining posts were made from creosoted roundwood with a painted steel cap on the top. Those not capped had rotted from the inside out.

The first posts I put in I capped with lead flashing, which I thought was a good way to waterproof them while being very easy to form into shape. Unfortunately woodpeckers soon ripped them open, presumably to get at bugs underneath. With a a few others I used some off cuts of anodized aluminium sheet and those have survived over 15 years so far.

There is a lot of knowledge and creative thinking on here, so as I am about to cap more posts, all 7" to 8" diameter, I wondered if there were any improvements you can suggest. Firstly, if I use aluminium again, it will not be anodized. Do you think allowing this to naturally oxidise in air will give something as durable as those that were commercially anodised ?
Alternatively I can get galvanised steel sheet, which is certainly tough and long lasting, however I find it hard work (unless you have some tips ) to form over the top and down the side of the post.

Also, is there a better way to form the cap for weather protection than what I do now - nailing in 4 places with galvanised nails, then use hammer to fold into a roundish octagonal top ?

Get some grade 5052 Aluminum sheet. Maybe .5mm thick or so? Easily bendable. You could actually bend/roll some conical shapes to fit over the posts.

Sadly I agree. I often think there is a group of agnostics agitators eager to fan the flames whatever the issue. And our non accountable media have been stoking this for months. Like high profile obituaries, they were prepared.
Like.

Been a rough week getting back to work after the holidays. Put in a 14 hr day yesterday.

Did get some good news in the middle of a miserable delivery last night. Little man made it home

We got to meet him tonight. Wifes walking around with a major case of Perma-Grin

Here he is hanging with his Pa Paw

Thanks for the update on vaccines Don. Cookies and Pizza sound good.

It took a bit to catch up online here.

I'm waiting for a thermostat for the Steiner beast. So for those who say green paint is high.....Orange paint is higher. The Steiner has a Kubota D905E 3 cyl engine, and Kubota's price for a thermostat, was like $38ish from a dealership. Just for grins, I looked up a thermostat for my John Deere's 3 cylinder Yanmar engine.....Priced at my dealership $28. Haha. I will update more info on the Beast's thread later.

Off today, going to pay my property taxes. Uhgg. Other errands to run. Nice day, but chilly. Will try to get some vitamin D.

Prayers for our country, and those in need, especially my brethren here.
