Off tomorrow. Have plenty of chores. Not sure which will get attention.

FIL wants me to work on his craftsman push mower. Pretty sure it needs a carburetor cleaning, but not sure what else. Has an old school L-head Briggs I believe under a craftsman top cover.

Good morning. Clear sky this morning, 4C/ 39F at 8:00 am.

Yesterday, after depositing Max at the vets, we enjoyed a drive out and then a stroll in the rain around the old market town of Nantwich. Not many places where you can see a shop that proudly displays in it's store front window both designer light fittings and Roundup herbicide. It was ideal weather to enjoy a cheese toastie while sat in the window seat of a first floor wood panelled room that looked down onto the town centre. The cafe-come-bookshop, was built for a merchant way back in 1584. Nantwich - Wikipedia

... Talking about almond milk made me think of something I saw on the local ag report...the Virginia dairymen are trying to get a law passed that the word milk cannot be used on almond milk and soy milk, etc...since they are not really milk, but instead nut juice, etc. They believe these alternative "milks" are trading on the goodwill that they have developed over many generations, and that the alternatives do not have the same nutritional benefits and consumers are being mislead when the word milk is used.

That has happened here, European courts ruled that it is deception if non-dairy products are sold as "milk" or "butter", with a few historic exemptions for foods never sold as dairy milk substitutes, such as coconut milk.

Kyle, enjoy your day off. I always found doing jobs for my in-laws had the added bonus of keeping my wife happy too ;)

Poured first cup of coffee. 64° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 90° with sunny skies. Yesterday temperature went to 93°. Last day of summer. Fall starts here at 4:02 pm. Yeah, and it will be in the 90's. Did not get much done yesterday. Back to same list for third day in a row. Maybe take all else off and just work on the paint job. I guess I did take dog to get groomed. I can take that off list.
Bird, never been to a Whole Foods. The ones located in Metro Detroit are in the the high income areas. 2 of the stores are located in College towns. Maybe the younger people know more than we do. Near where we stayed in AZ. There was a food store called Natural Grocers. Prices were way too high. Never more than one or two cars in parking lot. When you have Sprouts and Trader Joe's 1/2 mile away. Going to be a hard sell.
Good Morning All.

Pond is now down over four feet really dry here and tropical rains here non existent. I see a long dry winter upcoming for SW Va. hope I'm wrong

Hopefully finish a big driveway today 240 tons or so, one of the largest single driveways we've done. We have one on list bigger than that which will be the largest driveway

67 going to 88 today, looks like about a week of this nice weather ahead.

This is a wonderful time of year since it's harvest time. So many things being harvested. Locally corn and tobacco are being picked. Soy beans still drying out.
And our veggie gardens are still putting out.
I have visions of peach baskets and crates brimming with apples from my orchard. Next year...

Childhood friend of mine coming home from Washington after visiting his mother. He takes wonderful pictures and this morning one came of the Yakima Valley Washington grapes on the vine, almost ready to be picked. He said the testers were out every day checking on the grapes.
They took their new Honda Ridgeline on this cross country journey, which they have done many times, and were averaging 28mpg before they hit the Rockies.
Unreal for a truck, even a light duty one. And they had the cruise on 80mph for many hours, so they weren't slow poking at all.
