17F and partly cloudy @ 22:30, temps rising ... calling for a low of 19F overnight ... that will be around midnight and then rising further from there.
Woman got the laundry finished up and then cleaned the room and moved a bunch of junk out so it wouldn't be in my way.
Got washing machine and stationary tub moved out of the way.
Wall surgery mostly accomplished ... at least for now:
No plumbing or electrical lines were harmed in the process.
Was a bit of a dog's breakfast once I got it opened up.
The floor where the pipes pass up from below (unconditioned crawlspace but with no access for lack of a better term) was very rudely hacked out with multiple holes/cuts (way bigger than it actually needed to be for just the pipes) ... and it was left unsealed to the crawlspace underneath ...

It's the area with a couple of white trash bags stuffed into it in the image above.
Mix of pvc and abs.
Not sure where the vent stack goes ... might go up into the attic or maybe just the cavity in between the studs. Pretty sure it does not penetrate the roof but would have to check to be sure. So probably not up to code.
Heat tape was wrapped around the water supply pipes from where they exited the basement into the crawlspace to the point where they go vertical inside the wall the image above. Couldn't tell if the tape was working or not. Fair bet it isn't.
Stub outs for the supply valves for the stationary tub were way too long. Those pipes will get shortened up and 1/2 sweat x 1/2 male pipe fittings installed and the valves replaced with a pair of 1/4 turn Brasscrafts which I already have.
Spacing on the first pair of studs in shared laundry room/garage wall is off ... not 16" O.C. ... possibly because that was where the original door in garage was when it was just a closet.
So another stud will have to be added for mounting of the utility sink and screwed onto the corner studs where that wall joins the laundry room/kitchen wall on the right.
On the upside, there was insulation the shared laundry room/garage wall.
And I think I can reuse some of the drain plumbing.
The dedicated drain for the clothes washer was kind of hinky ... had a trap just outside of the wall (white pvc fitting on left) with a Fernco coupler and couple of foot long piece of pvc sticking up out of that. Way hinky. Fitting on the trap broke when I tried to unscrew it ... think they might have glued it.
That will get replaced with an 90 elbow and a solid pipe, either glued or screwed, and clamped to the wall.
Was thinking that now would probably be a good time to replace the Pergo laminate floor with vinyl if we were going to do it.
Woman came in shortly after that and said the same thing ...
Located a couple of 1/2" sweat caps ... so I'll likely cut the supply lines after the dishwasher and kitchen sink and get those capped off tomorrow.
Hope everyone had a decent day ...
