Frits, I bet Chevron is hiring...
quite an opportunity if one is an engineer.
Must be two or three years of work there.
that entire infrastructure was neglected.
reminds me of the poor maintenance at the BP plant in Texas City
they are dealing with very dangerous material and if not maintained or updated, which apparently it hasn't been,
someone will have to go in and replace most of it. So 100 billion dollars gets sunk
into this country. Might be a while before the quality of life of average local citizen goes up.
like water going down the Colorado River, only a trickle left for the locals.
just last month they had a huge refinery explosion and fire there
when in doubt, follow the money:
lot of job opportunities, warm climate year round
but I'd stay out of the rainforests, some seriously nasty deadly snakes there
what an adventure this will be for a lot of folks

Key Beneficiary Sectors:
- Oil & Gas (Exploration, Production, Refining): U.S. oil majors like Chevron (already present) and others would invest heavily in repairing aging infrastructure, increasing production, and potentially exporting more crude, according to Reuters, The New York Times, and Seeking Alpha.
- Engineering & Construction: Firms involved in large-scale infrastructure projects would see significant opportunities in refurbishing Venezuela's oil facilities, notes The New York Times.
- Defense Contractors: If the takeover involves military action, companies like Lockheed Martin (LMT) and RTX (Raytheon) could benefit from increased demand for weapons and defense systems, according to AOL.com and 24/7 Wall St..
- Energy Services & Logistics: Companies in Houston, a major oil hub, would see increased activity as they support operations in Venezuela, says Houston Public Media.
- Agriculture & Other Trade: Renewed stability could boost U.S. exports of goods like soybean meal, wheat, and cars, reversing recent trade patterns, notes The Observatory of Economic Complexity.
- Key Players:
- Chevron: Already operating in Venezuela, positioned for major expansion, notes Reuters.
- Other Major Oil Companies: ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips (which previously sought compensation for seized assets) might return, says Liberation News.
