It’s good she will use a computer. My Sister did FaceTime to her son in ID, so Dad could talk to him. I asked him if he thought he could do that on his own, he didn’t think so. I’m still tempted to set him up with internet and get him a tablet.

Record your mom, take pictures of the pictures she shows you. Get as much of that knowledge as you can record.

Getting Sophie’s Mom set up on an iphone and FaceTime was one of the best things we did for her. Just used our previous model when we upgraded as she never had interest in doing other than FT and regular phone. I would configure for her (and keep passwords), load the contact file for family and a bunch of pics. Of course we could email her new pics but often had to walk her thru getting them. When she lived alone we also put one of those Fall alert apps. Not sure how many times she initiated a FT but would answer when others did. I did have to tell the younger relatives who visited not to f**k up the phone by changing settings, but they could upgrade the IOS when appropriate.

There is a tempest brewing in the proverbial teapot in Alberta. It appears that the governing bodies that laid down the restrictions for the people to stay at home, 7 of those people buggered off to different countries while the rest of the people in Alberta had to stay at home. Note on short term disability- It counts toward SS.
When Sophie had her accident we learned she was a quarter short, so didn’t qualify for SS disability. Were surprise when she got her annual SS status statement the following year and it shoed her as eligible. The stint on short term disability put her over. Definitely not a great sum of money, but appreciated. And it automatically converted to regular SS at 66, same $$. I teased her the government must have decided she was no longer disabled. Of course after 20 years she doesn’t think so either, just limited.

If any of you still have Canadian $1. and $2. bills along with others no longer have 'legal tender' status. The bank might cash them at face value. the $1,000.oo bill left circulation in 2000.

All this retirement talk makes me realize that my idea of retirement might be someone else’s idea of work. Probably the only difference is that I usually don’t work on anything that doesn’t amuse or educate me. And tell people that I find annoying or frustrating to go away.

I pretty much did that the last 20 years I was in business, I was a little less independent the first seventeen while I was trying to build a clientele and reputation.
I see no reason to change now.

Dreary with sprinkles today, 42° but little wind so it doesn’t feel bad. We got all the outside decorations down and stored, used the tractor bucket and carryall to transport it to the storage shed and tractor shed and took some stuff from the garage to the tractor shed.
Didn’t do much else so far today, I have to call and make a follow up with the surgeon that did my aortic valve replacement in December 2019.

I went with an advantage plan this year, after several years of using State Farm supplemental and Express Scripts for prescriptions. Those two totaled up to about $240, the new plan s $40 per month. I balanced out the deductibles and copays and it seems it will be a net savings $1500 yearly. No copays on all but one med. The one will cost $11 more on the new plan, and a couple of specialists will cost $50 vs $40 now, but that’s figured in. Gross savings is $2400 a year.
I’ll see how it works out.

IF you come up to Windsor after this cv19 crap is over with, the banks will still take it at face value. IF the money is in good condition you might be able to sell it to collectors.
