Good morning!!!!

66°F and foggy this morning, going up to 88° today. We finally got some decent rain last night, right as we went to bed. Was nice to hear. Looks like we're going back into the mid 90s this week for summer's (hopefully) last hurrah.

Corn started coming out here sometime last week, Drew. I even saw one nearby farmer starting on his beans over the weekend. (Some of the bean fields are still a vibrant green.) I've always found the combine to be an extraordinary machine, even now as an adult.

On the way home from work yesterday, I saw a Humvee with two Missouri National Guardsmen, M16s slung over their shoulders, standing next to the firehouse just a few blocks from our facility. It was a powerful reminder of the turmoil embroiling the city of St. Louis right now. Here's to hoping things don't devolve to the point where they are needed.

The low was a warm one 46*, yesterday's high was 74*. We got some rain overnight, and it looks like more coming from the southwest. Today's high will be in the low 50's. The forecast says the wind will pick up to 20-30 mph.

Looked at the instructions for the heater for the side by side, wish they were better. I laid everything out and still not sure where to start to drill holes in the dash.
A neighbor came up and asked if I could dig a trench for a power line to his new shed. Will try to get that done in the next day or two.

The temperature is dropping and the rain is back.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 7:30AM. 0% Precip. / 0.00 in. Sunny. High 72F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

Most of the sky was overcast yesterday, with a low 80s high. Worked on the old bike out in the garage, almost finishing the bag mounts for the left side; I'll start on the right side today to take advantage of the cooler temps. They should last into the weekend, when it'll be warm enough to do some painting again.

The trouble in St. Louis and other cities, including little Chico out here, shows we really haven't come that far with respect to violence, since the '60s. Yes, there are many laws on the books to promote civil rights, but like speed laws, they're not always obeyed. And like the old days, the looting and burning is done by a criminal element that cares nothing for the law either way.

Try searching Youtube for a video on the heater installation, CWB. You're probably not the first person to find the instructions challenging, and someone with a smart phone has probably done a video tutorial.

Hope your back problems continue to improve, Buckeye. And the job situation as well.

PJ, seeing National Guard on the street corner made me flash back to Kent State. That time is so real to me having gone through it, when the Guard fired on the civilians.
Folks panic, even those with training. But why throw rocks at police which you know will hurt someone? A rock is a weapon and
things can escalate very quickly amidst the swirl of tear gas.
It's when you see the tanks you might consider a vacation to Hawaii.

The pictures of those morons in Florida looting stores in the storm really disgusted me. Shameful selfish behavior.
I've owned a Main Street retail business. Can't imagine dealing with looting.
Shoplifting was challenging enough to combat and even with an electronics store, had almost none of that.
Upper middle class white folks who were honest and whose bored children would steal just to see if they could get away with it.
Times and kids don't change. I just wonder if those kids stealing become the looters of tomorrow.
I think some of this Florida looting involves the criminals RNG refers to cranking up the
inner city lament of I'm oppressed so now I'm going to get what I can get
It's not looting, it's Reparations.
the end, no politics...
If they wanted to be out in the storm they should have been helping to save people.
At least find a tractor to drive and do something useful.

Claye, they'd call school here for just the thought of that...
very pretty

Don't get us older guys started on school closures ... :muttering:

It looks very nice from here, CWB. By way of comparison, we are at 88° right now in St. Louis. Expecting mid-90s the next two days.

Here is a link to the "To Tell The Truth" show, for those early to bed last night. My niece starts at 17:47 and goes till 31:20. She is actually on 2 panels. one as a lying kindergarten teacher and the second one as a truthful alligator wrestler - which no one believes. If you just have a few seconds to watch, start at 29:45 for about 10 seconds.
