Just came in from outside...
Way too wet to mow right now...great temperature (69 degrees) but very humid...although at 69 degrees, it's pretty comfortable.
Reckon I'll give it a couple more hours and see it the grass dries up a bit...

If you are mainly monitoring for afib what is the reliability of the Kardia Mobile?

Someone on here mentioned that awhile back. I checked into it, but like most things saw a wide range of reviews. I’m always Leary going to a web page and it’s a strong sell instead of details on the product.

Good morning! 77˚F feels like 77˚F, Wet Bulb Temp 75˚F, dew point 74˚F, humidity 92%, no wind. The weather station app says it will only get to 97 today the TV says low 100s.

David, the only action, on the first week of the study, was to complete standing ring for 4 days. Will they want a ECG reading in the mornings soon for the study. So far no A-Fib on a few test ECG at random times.

Churches here are still streaming. Covid counts have decreased. Mask compliance is still 100% with 99% improper use. Social distancing is being done when possible.

I wore a monitor for a while when having PVCs but the glue on the leads gave me a rash.

Sent in my official retirement papers yesterday

Congratulations Phil

99% improper use. I'm constantly rebending the metal strip on top to fit my nose tighter.
The N95 3M mask is thicker, harder to put on, harder to breath through despite some kind of vent in it, hotter
but likely well worth the effort. I wish they made a contact spray I could use on it...I only have two and it takes a week to be safe again.
I have another one made of cotton sent to me by a friend, has organic veggie pictures on it, a little cute for me...

That one way vent expels your unfiltered breath and coughing, but hopefully it deflects it enough, less than 6 feet maybe.

70 earlier in the fog, going to 90. Maybe the grass will finally dry...getting thick and tall...will mow at top height.

Hey Buppies, did you feel that quake about an hour and 45 minutes ago? A 5.1 near Sparta.

Happy Birthday to Kyle's mother...what a fine job done raising your boy. Kyle, interesting idea on the weedtampon.

David, homegrown watermelon is the best.

RS, I just figured the Japanese beetles disappeared because they finished laying their eggs in the ground and died off. Ever dug up one of their grubs? Huge. I didn't put any traps out this year, either.

Ted, we didn't get enough wind to blow down any trees, even with soggy ground. But the creek got up so high, when hiking yesterday it was still flowing over the bridge.

I was having PVCs along with Afib last spring but no episodes of either since May 28. Praise the Lord.
I could always tell when I was going into or coming out of Afib, or almost always.

Very likely it could be ...

As I understand it, the old roots die off when replanted and new roots have to form and grow for them to establish. I wouldn't expect them to be really well established for at least 3 years or so after being planted ... pinch the blossoms off during that time: you want the plants putting their energy into forming new roots (and stems/bush)

Also, on the one hand, they generally don't like "wet feet" ... but on the other hand, better that they shouldn't lack for moisture while they are trying to get established.

In northern climes, they are said to really flourish with "full sun" ... although our plants here actually did very well for many years planted right next to the east side of the house - maybe 3' from the foundation ... which itself is kinda odd, in that the foundation (solid, poured concrete) probably makes the soil more alkaline (rather than acidic which they prefer)

Another thing I've read is that because they are natively a northern plant, when they are planted in the south they may require some shade ... :confused3:

So the older bush is 1.5 years old, and it did not produce much of anything this spring. The bush we planted earlier this year, was full of blooms and young berries, and we harvested 2 or 3 nice bowls full from it. We planted a small peach tree on the west side of them, if it will grow, it would provide shade in the evenings.

Yep, a good size copperhead for around here. I scared it off the trail a ways into the woods and left it in peace. If it was around my house or garden...different story.

Speaking of snakes, we have a black rat snake that has a GPS system. We've been watching these wrens build a nest on our porch, sit on eggs, and now bring spiders and worms to feed the babies...one started fussing loudly Friday and we found the snake on the porch below the nest. My wife carried it off about 30 yards to the edge of the field and it came back right away. I caught it in a net, spun it around maybe 5 times to hopefully disorient it, and took it maybe 60 yards...came back yesterday...caught it again, and took it down the hill to the edge of the creek where lots of amphibs live, about 250 yards away. I told my wife if it came back again, maybe it deserved a little baby bird snack...no laugh.

Well it came back last night - on our door threshold as we opened the door. My wife is sure it's the same snake. So I got a flashlight and took it a different direction, hoping it won't cross the shorter grass of the frisbee field. Next time, it's into a box and in the truck bed for a trip to the next county. :)

You could take it to Don's neighborhood for whipper to have some fun. She probably misses snake slinging/dispatching. Maybe paint a yellow stripe down it's back, for recognition. :)

My neighbor has non-ethanol gas delivered, but I don't know where or from whom...this, IIRC, is leaded gasoline
However, the genny has a sticker on it specifying non-leaded gas.

I'll see how it goes today...pretty overcast, but don't think rain is in the forecast

I'm a fan of aviation 100 low lead if you can get some, for longer term storage motors. And keep the tank topped off, so there's no room for atmospheric moisture.

Good morning to all! Low of 58, going for a high of 89.... no chances for rain. A nice breeze this morning though.

Got the shelves all done and installed. Then started to dig out the materials for the cabinet doors. Did not get started with them however, decided to straighten up the shop first. Of course, that leads to finding "missing tools" and more organizing. Spent about 5 more hours .....

Then, the neighbor came over with his F350, asking if I could repair his tailgate, one of those fifth wheel grate type. He apparently jammed the pallet forks on his tractor into the corner. So we took it off, moved it into the freshly organized shop, and started banging away on the tailgate. Got it pretty well straightened out with the help of tack welds. Primered it, then a good coat of black.... done. Can hardly see where it was bent up.

That finished up the day. Need to do some weedwacking today, so probably not going to get to the doors until tomorrow.

Rng, nice work on the fire truck tank... good as new! I cannot believe how much red tape you have to put up with! Santa Fe county here does not have any emission testing / requirements at all.

Ron, very neat picture... the cranes almost look like cardboard silhouettes... great use of backlight

Thomas, thanks for sharing the deer pics. You have a beautiful property for sure!

Old path, welcome to GM!

David, I will have to try your philosophy..... don't make any plans for the day so as not to disappoint myself.... I really do hate when I feel like I didn't get done what I planned.... I will let you know how it works out for me....

I am headed out to go kill some weeds.....

Everyone have a great day!

Since Whippers snake aversion class (because of the abundance of rattle snakes in this area) she has not had an opportunity to do snake flinging. She prefers rat snakes, copperheads give her a big head and rattle snakes shock!

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 8:00AM. Sunny. High 102F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Wow! You folks have been busy! Makes it hard to keep up with all that's going on, so this morning, I'm not even gonna try...

Got the oak decking back in the truck yesterday, but not before installing screws into the undersides to keep them from coming apart. There were staples there already, but they weren't holding. Also leaned I didn't get the hatch in the right spot, and ended up drilling and tapping a bunch of holes for the decking at the back. Still need to finish that up today, as it was just too hot at 1PM when I came in for lunch.

That led to setting up the new networking hardware, and what's called a Dream Machine Pro turned into a nightmare. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the setup program to run correctly, and spent hours on the 'net trying to find a solution. Still not clear what's going on, but it may involve updating the firmware, and using SSH at the command line to do it. It's been a while since I did much with UNIX, so I'm rusty, so more homework.

But I did get all the old networking stuff moved over to the new shelves, and other than a few Ethernet cables that are way too long, it's a lot easier to get to and keep track of. Biggest surprise of all came when everything worked with I turned the power back on.:cool2:

Decided to catch one of the lizards last night to start getting them used to being handled, and Tasty wasn't happy with that at all. Didn't want a worm, just wanted out, so I let her go. She hid under the bead blaster, keeping an eye on me, and wouldn't come for another worm for a half hour or so. I guess hunger eventually won out, but she wouldn't come onto my hand. Smart lizard...

About then my house hunting buddy called and asked about septic systems. He'd just returned from Klamath Falls, where he looked at a house with a faint septic smell near the concrete hatch leading to the settling tank. He was told there was a pump down there to move the liquid effluent to the leach field. But he was mostly worried about the smell. I told him it could be something as simple as a poorly fitting lid on the hatch, or something much worse. My advise was to get the name of a reliable and experienced septic person from his realtor, and have a talk with him. His bigger problem is that there are not many properties on the market right now, so prices are up a bit higher than perhaps they should be. He's patient, but doesn't have a lot of time to waste, especially going into winter when any repairs he needs to make will take longer or have to be put off until spring.

Gonna finish up with the truck today, and hopefully get some grading and gravel spreading done where it'll get parked. Then not sure what else the day will bring, but the temps tell me it'll be an inside activity.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

RNG
ssh user@ip

User is usually admin or root
If it needs Password it will ask.
Use default ip that the device says it uses.
Make sure the computer network you are using to connect to it is also on that same network.

Ssh will give you a command prompt to do whatever commands you need to run.

my friend in Delaware asked me if I "felt it". No...but might have thought it was wind while raining...
said it was at 8am this morning and near NC/VA line, strongest in NC since 1916

looks like farm equipment dealers are doing ok, just like rv's and boats

71°F and .05 inches rain.

Time think about starting another round of mowing. Depends if ground is dry enough. Not looking too promising at this point. Looks like I’ll be enjoying rain with the morning coffee.

Anniversary today of sorts. 15 years ago today we moved here from GA.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

82F and sunny @ 12:30, high headed up to around 88F. 10% chance of precipitation.

The Woman just headed out to grocery store, asked her to report whether there were any more birds in trap on way after mentioning that the two in there yesterday were juvenile bluebirds. She was astonished (I'm not sure why ... after all, it is a bird trap ...) wanted to know if I had rebaited it (no) ... anyways the report is that the trap is currently empty. Might relocate the trap down closer to the house and rebait it today, since there seems to be quite a bit of activity down here. Bird feeders need filled again.

Not sure what all I'll get into today ... the powered insecticide seems to have worked on the Yellowjackets that were nesting in the back garage wall ... no more activity there ... so I might start caulking up any holes in the underlayment before I put the siding back on that was removed to extract the honeybees.

Finish greasing mower (pto shaft) and maybe get the loader and box blade taken off and it put on, maybe see if I can get auger stand finished up (shade job)

Also might run down to Menards and pick that order up.

The Squeak is looking very stylish ... if not entirely happy:

IMG_3734 copy.jpg

She was actually pretty tolerant of me putting it on her last night ... although that might have been because she had just had some catnip.

I took her into the living room and showed The Woman and she about had a fit ... insisted on removing the harness immediately ... "It's too tight" (it wasn't) ... I'm not sure which one provided more entertainment ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

As others have mentioned, they like acidic soil ... so peat moss or sulphur as a soil amendment. Dunno what your soil is like there, but here it's very alkaline ... might want to grab a moisture/light/pH meter just to check it:

Search Results for soil ph meter at The Home Depot

This what I found at the Depot for sulphur:

We planted a small peach tree on the west side of them, if it will grow, it would provide shade in the evenings.

Good morning all. Not quite death threats, but I didn't want to risk the "or else" looks the sheep were giving me yesterday, so I opened the gate. It was a near stampede when I let them into another field today.View attachment 665366 View attachment 665365Ken, you have the right attitude to scary trees, keep taking extra care while clearing up the damage. Here is a thought for those that like to ponder over things that don't matter - the earths gravity gets weaker every day, so trees don't crash down with quite the same force as when we were younger. That is because 50,000 tons of hydrogen and a smaller amount of other gasses are being leaked out into space every year, as well as the occasional mars probe. After taking into account the amount of space dust that is pulled in, they reckon the net loss is only 0.000000000000001% every year - it will be a while before a hard hat is enough when dealing with wayward scary trees
Do you align your sleep position north south, or east west, to align your atoms with the Earth's natural Gauss lines or perpendicular?

RS, I just figured the Japanese beetles disappeared because they finished laying their eggs in the ground and died off.

Yeah ... for some reason I was thinking they were around longer ... might be just because I really didn't see all that many of them this year. Typically we have a lot.

Ever dug up one of their grubs? Huge.

Oh yeah ... nasty looking buggers ... see them quite often when doing any digging around here.

A couple of years we had skunks out in the front yard in the evening going around digging them up. Still see holes around where some critter has been digging them out.

I didn't put any traps out this year, either.

Good luck on your mowing ...
