Drew, and all you others suffering ailments, prayers for you. My cold or whatever it is, got much better overnight. Still scratchy but much better, less mucus and junk. I feel ok, never really felt that bad. I started gargling with salt water, that seemed to help a bunch. Still a little tender in my ear and throat on that side, but a major improvement.

Been to the bank, and set up some paperwork for the tractor and auto insurance.

53 and rain showers this morning, showers continue for the afternoon, mild through tomorrow, then 2-3 cold days, followed by a big warm up.

Have a good day guys!

Glad you're better.

Anybody heard from Don lately?

He's been AWOL since his last post on the 21st.

Thought sure Bill's comment about his meal being vegetarian, except for the turkey:laughing:, would get a rise out of Don, but not a peep.

Hope everything's OK...:confused3:

Yes, Can Don be getting that much seat time? Maybe he hit the lottery. Hope he's alright. Maybe upcoming freeze has him working overtime at gardens? Hope things are alright.

I wasn't really sure I could do it, but I survived 5 hours of yard work this morning. First I raked the front yard under that blasted live oak tree and bagged a bag and a half of acorns and leaves. Then I mowed front and back with the bagger and with the height set at next to the lowest setting possible, so that was another 6 and a half bags of clippings (4 mower bags to each contractor bag). Normal mowing with the EGO mower doesn't take long and the battery is more than enough to do the whole job, but mowing it short like I did this morning puts quite a load on the mower and I had to recharge that battery twice to get the job done. Anyway, I reckon we're about ready for summer, or as ready as we can be.

Bird, maybe I need one of those mowers with just one battery. That way, I'd get a rest too when it's charging.

Good evening all. 41F for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Wind picked way up, sky became more cloudy in afternoon, and high temp was 56F. This morning was another slow start, general puttering until bike ride time, nap and pick up a few round for firewood that were offered to me. Walked Scooter to conclude workday :)
I remember coolant tanks well. We would machine some cast iron which added to aroma and left sludge on bottom of tank, fun to remove.
Drew hope you do not need to resort to current plan B. Good luck with you consultations and epidural.
Rick latest here is snow possible overnight, may not last until dawn.
Buppies hope hole heals quickly.
Thomas gotta take care of deer and the Mrs :D
RNG sounds like propane line is good, hope the conduit holds.
PJ might have to do with fewer distractions for both dog and owner during in-home training?
Ted sounds like midwest weather, changes by the minute :D
Hawkeye, sorry about your computer account misbehaving, glad you will get some wifey face time and FIL doing better.
Drew probably depends on how much of sour cream or butter you use.
Randy good to hear cold is better, hope gone before weather changes.
Bird, still need to do the scalp but with snow forecast for tonight it is hard to get motivated for summer.
Buckeye, sorry to hear you are doing without wife, and condolences on loss of friend's father. FIL will do better with minimal changes until he is more recovered.
randy hope you still have hair and health at end of season.
prayers for all.

Oh gosh, cast iron would smell when you cut it, and then it would rust out the coolant.....Don't miss it one bit. I sanded on a pure molybdenum crucible today a little.

Did you have any leftover roast and mashed potatoes? That's one of my favorite meals....or roast with rice.

I asked the receptionist at the accountants what she thought would be the price from the courier to deliver the package 75 miles away and she about crapped her knickers when I told her 51.oo+. The whole trip was uneventful. Borrrrringggg!

Bill you won’t be bored over the next few days - by the time we get up there on Friday we will have a foot of snow on the ground. Snowblower time!

Got a **** cold coming on...left work an hour early yesterday and, I think I'll call in today. I use Theraflu, which works good. The night stuff is great, but really knocks me out fast for the night.

Good morning, a wet slushy start to the day here.

These relentlessly soggy conditions are no real hardship compared to what those living next to the main river in the this county are facing. The river Severn has reached the top of both permanent and temporary flood barriers, though to the annoyance of some tv producers, they are still holding. I wouldn't want to be standing behind this temporary barrier if it did give way.

good morning all.
Big pot of coffee made and fresh fruit chopped up for guests who are sleeping/snoring soundly.
I don't know how wife takes it, my friend is the loudest snorer, it comes through the walls of my house...remarkable but he's been like that forever and doesn't seem to bother the wife.

Dinner last night went well, meat loaf was pretty yummy, and we were so full not sure dessert was eaten, since I was asleep on my feet having been up since 3am. Friend's wife looked at me and said good night, she knows I am a serious morning person and awful at night. I'd been on my feet all day, everything hurt and I needed to go horizontal. Which I did and was asleep at 8pm. I told them I'm a terrible host and they just laughed. She finished up the kitchen cleaning and was nice to see it so organized this morning. Bagels, yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast, then later on this morning they head North to DE.

a warm 55 out going up to 70 tonight and rain tonight. Then thankfully a dry spell for four or five days, which means I can get some things done outside.

Expensive week in the stock market. Down almost ten percent in one week, and if they don't get a better handle on
the Chinese flu, world economy impact will be very expensive to investments. I'm at 53 percent fixed income which
helps but every day account drops. They say Disneyworld/Land almost deserted, that can't be good. Big ripple effect from this.

going back for second cup of coffee, still half asleep. This is surely going to be a nap day.

Buppies, don't know if Virginia is different but as a retired insurance person, very happy with BC/BS supplement. Never have a copay anywhere, Not cheap at 5k per year total with Medicare and Part D drugs, but I sure get my money out of it. That's one MRI to put it in perspective.

Drinking second cup of coffee. 28° with snow this morning. Heading to 32° with continued snow. Already cleaned off walkways. Take Sassy in for grooming today. Part for belt sander came in. Repair is for angle table. That was broken when I got it 40 years ago. Still need to modify it to fit.
Muffin's visit to vet went OK. They do not recommend removing growth on a 15 year old dog. Got some antibiotics.
Squirrel is checking me out.

Eric, I am sure Sassy is going to appreciate me getting trained. :dance1:

Drew, sounds like dinner went good. You would fit in very well at my place. 8:00 pm is a good time to go to bed. Dogs think it's OK to.

Roy, get well soon.

Newbury, not that big. 20 Gallon.

David, bugs me the most when my plans are changed because item is not in stock. Now a days I look online to see who has the item I want in stock. With 3 big box stores within 5 miles of me I usually get what I want.

Buckeye, downsizing is a big job. I have started doing that in shop and barn. Not getting far. Neither son wants to talk about it. Maybe they should just have a auction or estate sale. Starting to realize keeping this place up is a lot of work. Not ready to give up yet. Good that your wife can help her parents get it done.

Jay hope you and wife are doing OK.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, temp is 9ーF and going to a high of 21. Wind NNE 13 gusting to 22 mph. Periods of light snow today.
Winter storm warning in effect. The powers that be are threatening 4-6" by tomorrow morning and another 6" tomorrow.

I gotta take the DIL to the Dr.s' this afternoon. It is only in town so that isn't too bad.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the monthly trip to North Bay for groceries, but if weather dictates that I plow then NB waits until the next day.

While DIL is in the Dr.s' I will go to the post office and mail a package.

The blubber is coming off me nicely, 242 lbs this morning, naked. I was never a fan of getting weighed fully clothed. Nekkid is the only way to get an accurate weight.

My BCBS supplement is costing me 4k per year. But like you no copays or other bills. Medicare will pay over $5K for my MRI last week. BCBS pays about $200. I told my Dr neighbor about cost keeps going up every year. He cannot understand why this is happening to people on fixed income. He will find out. He is 67.

David, bugs me the most when my plans are changed because item is not in stock. Now a days I look online to see who has the item I want in stock. With 3 big box stores within 5 miles of me I usually get what I want.

The internet, and especially Amazon, has created an expectation that most anything can be ordered and arrive within two or three days. But that's not always the case, as I've found with this solar power project. The latest delay is for the 2" diameter, 24" radius metallic conduit sweeps needed where the electrical runs from the generator and solar panels emerge from the ground at the house. The big box stores don't stock stuff like that, and I couldn't find an electrical supplier locally that had them, either. Google wasn't much help because I don't know enough about electrical hardware to know what they're supposed to be called. So I'm waiting on a very helpful local outfit to get together an order for enough stock to meet the minimum order for their supplier, which I'm told will be Thursday or Friday, so that my two parts can be delivered sometime early next week. Otherwise, it would be $40-$50 shipping to get them sooner.

The generator was even worse: six weeks from the time I got the building permit until I was able to find one actually in stock that could be shipped, and even then it took most of a week to get here. Otherwise I'd be waiting 12-14 weeks for one to be made, and it would be the last batch because that model was going to be discontinued.

If there's anything I've learned from this project, it's to roll with the punches. I may have some preferences when it comes to when things happen, but they don't have much impact on reality.:confused3:

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High near 75F. Winds light and variable.

BC/BS supplement? Had to look that one up! At those prices, Ron, my health insurance premium would almost double. If I understand correctly, that was for a MediGap policy that covers the 20% of the bill that Medicare doesn't pick up, right? I'm waiting on an MRI bill, too, and I'll be paying the 20% because it's still early in the year and I haven't met my maximum out-of-pocket limit yet. I'll be on Medicare next year, so I've got that long to come up to speed on how it works and what supplemental plans make sense. Where's a good place to start?

Last week as I was walking through the parking lot on the way into the grocery store, I watched a lady back out of a parking slot, cut her wheels sharply to the left, and swing her front bumper into the right rear bumper of the car next to her. I was standing right next to her as she backed up again and started to drive off. I yelled at her that she'd just hit that car, and all she did is turn her head to look at me as she drove off. I tried to get a photo of her license plate, but wasn't quick enough. And I didn't have a pen and paper with me to put a note on the poor guy's windshield that just got whacked. As if that would do any good anyway. But it still bothers me that there are people out there like that.:pullinghair:

Got the 2" PVC conduit runs in from the generator pad and solar panel rack up to where they'll transition to metal conduit yesterday. I also got the propane pipe put together and inflated; if it's still holding pressure this morning I'll wrap the joints and call it ready for inspection. I still have some more digging to do at the shipping container before I can bury the drain line there, so I'll get started with that this morning. Then I'll start with some concrete in the post holes to get them all on the same level. That'll probably take the rest of the day, depending on how it goes.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Happy Hump Day, folks!

If you are waiting on electrical bends,
call around to the electricians in your area.
Many of them should have the hot boxes to bend PVC and benders for ridgid or IMC they shouldn't charge a lot to bend up a few elbows for you.
For the long radius one a segmented bend works very well.

49 degree fog, going to 61.

Hawkeye, good to hear your FIL is better...bet those ribs hurt.

Ted, glad Max is doing better.

I agree on the going back to pick up more plumbing parts. I've done a few jobs, and had to go back...but last time I had a challenging well problem, called "the plumber"...they had to send a second truck to my house, and still one of them had to go back to their warehouse (25 miles one way) to pick up more parts. Scratched this company off my list.

RNG, I had the similar experience a long time ago of observing a car backing out and then cutting into the real nice sports car next to it and then taking off...My girlfriend and I wrote a note with the license, time, and model/color of the car and placed on the windshield. Got a call from the owner a week later offering to take us on a plane ride around the area from the airport where he kept his private plane. He had contacted the owner of the offender and got things worked out.

Good Morning. It's 42° and windy here .. 17 mph gusting to nearly 30 mph. It may get to 54° this afternoon but forecast is that wind will be with us all day then .. temps drop to just below freezing overnight.

With the wind .. there shouldn't be much of yesterday's burn pile left this morning. I did get some more tree trimming done while monitoring the burn pile.

Eric .. hope the flood barriers stay intact. As I recall .. you sit pretty "high and dry" ?

RNG .. a couple years ago I sorted all my "extra" PVC, CPVC, and PVC electrical conduit parts and put them into cardboard bins by size. It amazing how much can be accumulated over the years.

L4N ... yep .. no pictures required.

Roy .. hope your cold is resolved fast. I've not had a single cold since I stopped spending so much time on jet powered, germ tubes three years ago.

Hope everyone has a productive "Hump Day" today.

Prayers to all.
