Wngsprd, without Ellen I guess I would have landed in a nursing home with who knows what for care, God surely sent her to me.

88, headed for 92 today, 99 by Saturday.

PT eval today, see how that goes. My grandson is staying with me 4 days this week, he’s a lot of help for 7 and a lot of company.

BEF, prayers for you my friend, a quick and full recovery.

I'm glad to hear you're getting a bit better each day, and that you have Ellen to help you in so many ways.

Taking 5th and last iv treatment. I dont see signs of improvement, disappointed.

The gonna kick me out to acute rehab to see how i do. Hopkins downtown or UM rehab.

If i get worse, they readmit and try worse treatment.

I'm praying for you BEF. Wondering myself if the pneumonia had anything to do with all this? Prayers and more prayers.

Good seeing son. Have not seen each other for a few years.

Getting hit with remnants of Barry. Almost a 1" of rain so far.

Randy, glad recovery is happening.

Buckeye, hope you do not need another round of meds.

RNG, sounds like fun tractor shopping. Good luck finding the right one.

Moved to rehab, might not keep phone here.

Dabsgt you might want to try Prolon for 5 days to give you a jump start. You just eat what they send in the package - you will loose 7-10 lbs in 5 days.
Fasting Mimicking Diet | Prolon FMD It actually does get you back on track on portion size - it's all plant based also.
Don it looks interesting but for best results it should be following for 3 to 6 months for a minimal weight reduction 3 to 6 pounds. It's only 5 days each month at $225 a month that's $75 to $100 a pound. Look up what the diet is and for much less can accomplish the same result. Health line had info on the plan.

Wndsprd tonight was cannelloni beans and spinach sauteed in olive oil with a little garlic and hot peppers.

Don the diet is for the cruise lol, seriously it's just getting back on track, gets harder every year to drop the extra pounds of winter. I am not a big sweets eater but a sucker for strawberry shortcake when Berry's are native of a nice slice of apple pie. At one time I was a big sucker for ice cream instead of going out for a beer or drink after a 4-12 shift I would go home and have ice cream right up to 18 years ago when I had a heart attach.
Bird some of your weather is heading to our area 105 predicted for Saturday.

Thanks, Rick.

The R can be had open station as well, and that's where my focus has been so far. Basically the same tractor as the M, but the loader on the R can be disconnected by flipping a couple of levers and disconnecting the hydraulic lines, and it has a rotating seat and the Hitch Assist, which allows you to lift the 3PT arms and jog the tractor forward and backwards from behind. It also has cruise control, a feature I've never found useful on the Kubota. I'm going to try to swing by another Deere dealer to look at an M and the loader mounts, and see how easy it would be to dismount the loader. I've done it several times on the Kubota, mostly to ease maintenance and repairs, and though I wouldn't mind removing a few bolts and disconnecting the lines to get one off, if it requires a forklift it would be a show stopper. There's about a $5K difference between the M and the R, a pretty Deere price to pay for a feature that should be standard (pun intended).:D

View attachment 613167
I was also not impressed the loader mounts. They use a vertical plate about an inch thick and six inches wide, maybe two feet tall, that is welded to a four inch diameter tube at the bottom, which is then welded to another plate that bolts to the tractor. The Kubota uses much the same structure, and I've already seen both arms break from fatigue loading from carrying loads of dirt or gravel in the bucket on a side hill. The tops of the plate flexes about a half inch side to side as the tractor hits bumps and irregularities on the ground. Other Kubota mounts use square or C section uprights and do not have the issue because they have much more lateral stiffness. Look at the photo and you'll see how flimsy the mount looks in comparison to the loader parts.

Oops! I thought that R was cab and M was open station.

I'm not sure about the smaller LS XR 41XX tractors but, my XR4155HC has Cat 2 three point (2755 LB. lift) and 3 rear remotes standard.

My sole disappointment is max lift height of the FEL which is only a bit over 96" but .... it will lift over 2700 lb. and the breakout is over 3800 lb. I've picked up dead trees that I was convinced I'd have to go get the New Holland to move.

I did give the John Deere's a good look before buying my first LS and really like them ...... until I saw the price. I looked at Kubota too but, so much of what was LS standard was optional on Deere and Kubota. I had a John Deere Z-820 zero turn so knew the dealer very well. They just could get close to the LS price.

Good evening all. 75F for the start today, mostly sunny and calm. Mostly sunny and south wind on the brisk side of moderate, high temp of 97F HI 110. Started with sand burr abatement till it was time for POA board meeting recap. After board mtg recap, golf cart research, did 1 dealer visit, drove the gas Yamaha, wife is thinking may be quiet enough, hard to hear engine over well packed gravel. Decked out with the side curtains and club covers close to 9K  After dinner more sand burr abatement.
Buckeye, sorry to hear about lack of improvement, praying for rehab to work better.
Randy good to hear they are turning you loose!!
David, congrats on Kalani 12 bDay.
dabsgt, good luck with diet on cruise.
Prayers for all.

I noted that in the lift height comparison photo of the NH and LS tractors, the NH loader started out higher because it's mounted on a higher tractor. But the loader arms are longer as well, but again that's more because it's on a larger tractor. I haven't needed more than 8' of loader height so far, so I'm not sure that's an important issue for me, but it's good to know that for my *next, next* tractor, bigger is available.

An XR4155H (open station) was just quoted at $34K. It would cost $1500 to add port forward for a grapple and top'n'tilt, and another $500 for wheel spacers if I decided to buy 'em instead of make 'em.. About a $20K savings, but no swivel seat, no Hitch Assist, no self leveling bucket. On the positive side, the loader and 3PT have lift capacities higher than the JD, the tractors weigh more (better ground engagement), and same foot control layout as the JD. Enough incentive to make the trip to that dealer and take a look. I wasn't at all impressed with the dynamics of the JD loader; maybe the LS will be more responsive?

In the mean time, the JD dealer finally admitted they do sell a loader with a self leveling bucket, but it would have to be ordered separately, and cost substantially more. I'm beginning to wonder if ol' John didn't pick green for a reason: it seems you have to be made of money to afford one.

Tried to get in touch with a Reno, NV dealer in an effort to see if their price structure is more flexible, but after two calls and no returns, maybe their business is so good they don't need mine?:confused2:JD

One of the reasons the JD man gives for the high price is the high trade in value. Did you get a good price for your LS when you sold it, David?

The JD dealer also said his engine (really a Yanmar) would be running well past 3000 hours, at which point the LS would be in for a rebuild. How many hours have you racked up so far, Rick, and have there been any issues so far?

/ Good morning!!!! #96,571
Rick, we did AMA Danube cruise a couple years ago, loved it. Much more personal than the big boats. SIL is gluten free and they made sure she had options. When a member of our small group didn’t like the wine, another wine was bought next stop. Not nickeled and dimed like the big boats either. We started in Germany ended in Budapest.

Some close friends, who had been on several "river cruises" told us they'd tried the "well known" line and then went on an AMA line cruise. They told is that that ratio of crew to passengers was much higher on the AMA Boats.

We've been exceptionally pleased with the level of service on the AMA Boats and we're starting to plan our next trip.

/ Good morning!!!! #96,572
Rick, I don’t know about the ratio ( the other line managed to hit a bridge and kill someone as we cruised) but the AMA service was excellent.
Wife and I were met at 1115 on shore and first on the boat. Apologies that room wouldn’t be ready but feel free to enjoy lounge etc. Very nice lunch (with Gluten free selections) included and very few people actually arrived before 3PM. On the day we disembarked, they actually made taxi reservations for those that wanted them. Again, we got to hang out in the lounge as our cab wasn’t needed until about 3pm. Showed up about 15 minutes early, but we were told no need to hurry that he would wait (without meter running) I did note that day’s buffet lunch did not include gluten free and SIL had already disembarked so I’m guessing new group didn’t require.

Where you going next?
Thought the African trip looked interesting, but what a budget buster.

/ Good morning!!!! #96,573
Good morning. Starting off dry, with rain expected later this afternoon. I am on standby to go help a friend get his bales stacked and temporarily covered if the baling contractor can arrive in time.

Wng, when I tried putting normal food colouring in the spray tank a couple of years ago, it didn't show up enough.

BEF, sorry to hear there is no improvement as yet. We will still be thinking of you, even if you can't post while in rehab.

RNG, I had a test drive in a 4066R last year. It was in at the dealer for service, I forget the hours it had done, looked like it was worked hard every day and was still going strong, showing that some serious users do think it worthwhile to pay the extra to go green. Those external forward/reverse nudge buttons are a nice touch, though since Ron showed me how easy it is once you park implements on a dolly, I doubt I would get much use out of them.

Once you have a self levelling loader, it could be a never ending source of regret to go back to one without, especially if our ageing bodies get less inclined to cooperate. Also, with all the extra zerks, you get to enjoy more quality time with your grease gun

76 outside this AM. Heading to upper 90s today. Here cometh the heat wave. Will prepare to sit in the pool accordingly. Although the grass continues to taunt me.

Have a great day. Be safe. Hope all are getting better.

66 right now...high in the low 80's...and T-storms today.

Thought I had corrected my internet connection problems...but I hadn't...still working on it...

/ Good morning!!!! #96,576
sticky 78 degrees going up to 97 today, sort of defines H&H
disappointing trip to ENT yesterday, second opinion, top guy at another practice, seemed to confirm tinnitus portion of Meniere's disease basically untreatable beyond what I've done. No magic bullets. Both Buckeye and I would like one of those right now, worrisome he is in rehab without good recovery, prayers for entire family.

Still haven't found someone local with a pool. This is not a wealthy area so not a lot of swimming pools around...
South Florida weather is here, no choice but to go from a/c house to a/c car to a/c store/office.
At 103 degrees my hot tub just isn't that refreshing...which reminds me I have to shock it again, this heat eats up chemicals, but not as bad
as an open pool.

/ Good morning!!!! #96,577
75 going to 97.

Get well, BEF!

River cruises sound really nice. I get the brochures in the mail often and look through them...I love geography and maps, and it's a small way to brush up on where the rivers flow, rather than just national borders...didn't realize that some of you had cruised on these rivers and enjoyed it.

Happy birthday, Kalani!

RNG, sounds like you're doing a smart, patient shopping job on the tractor.

I split my firewood and stacked it yesterday..only 4 pulls on the starter rope. Also mowed the last section...newly sharpened blades and cleaned out deck make it such a pleasure, even in the heat.

Can't find my receiver hitch...need to move the trailer, and searched for an hour in the late afternoon heat...was not in the usual place...nor in the many unusual places I searched. I don't lose things very often, so this really worked on my mind...as well as my body...getting drenched from just sweating in the humidity. Will start fresh again this morning.

Glad you are doing better Toppop, Buckeyefarmer prayers sent that you heal soon

Drew I’m sorry maybe a bigger hospital might have the answer prayers sent

Happy belated Kalani

Riptides be careful in all this heat

72 high of 90 today the worst is coming

Good morning, not bad today, going to be a scorcher this weekend.

Thoughts for everyone needing to heal.

Better get moving, everyone have a safe and good day

This talk about cruises reminds me that one of my unlikely bucket list items
was to take a Cunard line cruise to England and back. Gosh is that expensive if you want a nice room with
a balcony. Like buying a small car...

And once in England, take the Chunnel and go on one of those river cruises.
I get those flyers every few months too, glossy things with great pics on them.
And everyone seems to have fun, pretty stable ride, more like a floating house.
I don't fly so getting there had better be half the fun...

Fairly committed to rv'ing next year. I've never been out West and that's my priority, making it to California finally.
From proverbial sea to shining sea...
Maybe cruise the next year. Hopefully I will have met someone to do it with...
Really nice some of you have gone on these cruises. The Alaska one sounds wonderful.
When I get to California, pretty sure taking ship over to Hawaii. Have family there, including an ex wife, who
I may or may not see.

David, is there a ferry between the Hawaiian Islands?
May be much further than I think...though clearly I like boat rides.
