Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 7:30AM. Partly cloudy skies. High around 95F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Finally got to drive a Deere yesterday, a 4066. Same tractor as the 4052 I've been eyeing, but with a different tune on the engine that gives 12 more horses. Really liked having the brake pedal on the left instead of on the right, and the two go pedals didn't bother me, but would take some getting used to. Also liked how you could rotate the seat 15° either way to make seeing where you're going easier when you're backing up. The loader ran very slowly compared to the Kubota I have, but that improved when, at the suggestion of the salesman, the hand throttle was bumped up to about 2000 RPM. I was able to lift and curl the bucket at the same time, scooping a load or two of gravel into it without issue. It didn't slow down at all when I rode it up a loading ramp, no surprise there with all that power available. Salesman couldn't figure out how to get the Hitch Assist to work, no wonder: There are four separate safety steps to get it to go. Back in the office he was able to give good answers to all of my questions, and I'd buy the tractor but for the $50K + price tag, options and accessories, installation, and taxes accounting for $20K of that. I could save $5K doing the installations myself, and the salesman sent me home with printed out instructions for doing so. He was clear he didn't have much wiggle room on the prices, so we'll see if another dealer is more flexible. I'll also give the LS dealer a call today and see how close he can come feature/power wise, and for how much.

Also picked up another trailer load of Kubota RTV pallets, and got it all home without incident. Job one this morning is getting them unloaded and stacked on the first batch...

Wngsprd, without Ellen I guess I would have landed in a nursing home with who knows what for care, God surely sent her to me.

88, headed for 92 today, 99 by Saturday.

PT eval today, see how that goes. My grandson is staying with me 4 days this week, he’s a lot of help for 7 and a lot of company.

72°F and .02 inches rain.

A special day here. Our boxer girl Kalani turned 12. Only our 2nd boxer to do so. I think some steak might be just the thing.

Have to go to HD later. Started rescreening two patio doors but need new splines.

Looks like I might get some brush hog mowing in before HD.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Are looking at the 4052M open station or 4052R with cab? Backhoe?

Here's a brochure on the LS XR series if you've not already seen it.

Randy- Good luck with the PT evaluation.

BEF- From what I have recently read about GBS full recovery may take some time to achieve. I also have read that there is recent evidence that pneumonia can trigger the GBS, but there is limited research and very few known cases . Hang in there. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

David & Kalani- Happy birthday!!! I agree about Kalani's birthday meal. From what I understand about Boxers 12 years of age is old; evidence of good genes, luck, and awesome care. I wish her many more in health and happiness with her pack.

Rick, we did AMA Danube cruise a couple years ago, loved it. Much more personal than the big boats. SIL is gluten free and they made sure she had options. When a member of our small group didn’t like the wine, another wine was bought next stop. Not nickeled and dimed like the big boats either. We started in Germany ended in Budapest.

Thanks, Rick.

The R can be had open station as well, and that's where my focus has been so far. Basically the same tractor as the M, but the loader on the R can be disconnected by flipping a couple of levers and disconnecting the hydraulic lines, and it has a rotating seat and the Hitch Assist, which allows you to lift the 3PT arms and jog the tractor forward and backwards from behind. It also has cruise control, a feature I've never found useful on the Kubota. I'm going to try to swing by another Deere dealer to look at an M and the loader mounts, and see how easy it would be to dismount the loader. I've done it several times on the Kubota, mostly to ease maintenance and repairs, and though I wouldn't mind removing a few bolts and disconnecting the lines to get one off, if it requires a forklift it would be a show stopper. There's about a $5K difference between the M and the R, a pretty Deere price to pay for a feature that should be standard (pun intended).:D

I was also not impressed the loader mounts. They use a vertical plate about an inch thick and six inches wide, maybe two feet tall, that is welded to a four inch diameter tube at the bottom, which is then welded to another plate that bolts to the tractor. The Kubota uses much the same structure, and I've already seen both arms break from fatigue loading from carrying loads of dirt or gravel in the bucket on a side hill. The tops of the plate flexes about a half inch side to side as the tractor hits bumps and irregularities on the ground. Other Kubota mounts use square or C section uprights and do not have the issue because they have much more lateral stiffness. Look at the photo and you'll see how flimsy the mount looks in comparison to the loader parts.

BEF, praying for you, I truly believe it’s a matter of time for you to get it all back.

Had my PT evaluation today, and while I have a long, long way to go, they discharged me from home visits. Only the nurse visits for a couple of weeks and I’m on my own to finish the job.
