69°F and .16 inches rain.

An excellent day mowing with Sophie’s BX yesterday, got the Laupahoehoe end of property all mowed. Just about the right height and density.

I did leave message for my LS tech, but he didn’t call back as he texted he would. Guess that might mean nothing to report yet.

Hope to continue with Hilo end today. And reach out to tech again.

After some very cursory discussion we have decided to take a trip next year, Ireland. Our planning won’t be same level as Drew. Can’t drive there and we sold the RV years ago.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Same here, our good friend is Irish and he is visiting currently in Ireland. He is also our long term financial advisor.
Landed in Shannon a bunch of times and been to Dublin on business trips a few times.

God is mad at me.
Went to the local deli.
All, except the parking space furthest away is taken.
Just as I park the sky's open up.
Cursing I walk in soaked.
Takes a few minutes to get my order and I can see through the front window that the rain has stopped.
After waiting for a few old biddies at he cash register I get out just as the monsoon hits.
Now I'm really soaked to the skin.
My ball cap is dripping through to my head.
Driving home, 15 minutes, the cloud breaks and just a touch of clear sky.
Just before turning into home, flash of lightening, and monsoon starts again.
The paper bags from the Deli are soaked and threatening to fall apart.
I'm leaving a water trail through the entrance.
I put the stuff down on the kitchen counter just to see through the window the rain is just a drip.
Like really?
What did I do to deserve all this?
Ah, to Hell with it!:devilish:

We are kicking around an Iceland/ireland or Scotland/UK trip sometime coming up..

91deg

turned water off to water softener, haven't been back down.

Somewhere in the night was thinking about the upstairs AC not keeping up, so dug out my manualJ calculations this morning. They don't look right to me, especially the upstairs numbers. so trying to figure out what I did 15 yrs ago. I do see one duct screw up going to the above garage rooms, I downsized main trunk without taking any air out.
When I put geo in, I totally almost totally redid the attic ductwork.

Original was a center feed AH in our walk in closet. The install of that, which I did not do, was terrible. I found out when I removed it, they had jambed the riser from the AH up against the attic duct that didn't fit tight, and it was dumping some air out into the attic. New Geo unit is at the end of the original house, it splits into two 8x16 ducts, one which feeds the original house, the other feeds 3 rooms over the garage

I know they are not balanced, so ordered an air flow meter to record flow at each outlet, and a duct sizing calculator to go thru the system and try to figure this out. HVAC is not my expertise, but I understand the concepts, I think......

Good Afternoon,
Massey, that was a great story, funny as heck, but sorry you got soaked !

David, you will love Ireland ! We went in 2006 or 2007, can’t seem to remember, but we had a ball ! Flew into Shannon and then drove to Galway on a rainy morning with no sleep! 😉 Lots of interesting sights to see !!

Got a little more trimming done this morning but it was hot, tee shirt soaked in no time ! Looks like it could thunder here but so far nothing more than some darker clouds !

Certainly is easy to get dehydrated in this weather !

Scotty I have not done German for months, I'm a drop-out. Just too much stuff going on to have a clear learning environment.
Don, I could totally understand with what you have been going through the last few months ! The good news is that you can pick right up where you left off ! My next door neighbor in Ct speaks a little German and I remember him telling me that there is an area in San Antonio that has a German speaking area ! Wonder if you’ve been down that way ?

Hope all have a good afternoon and stay cool ! 🧊

It's just that the timing couldn't be worse.
Like some giant entity just waiting for me to get out of the shelter.
Maybe payback for torturing flies and ants as a kid.

Temperature bouncing 86F-93F cloud cover with 8mph wind at times sure feels good but not good enough to putter outside, weather station showing rain arriving little after 8pm until early morning. :) :)
Out the front door 5am starting stacking wood by 11am finally stack the last piece of 2 1/4 cords, area clean and rake ready for the splitter come Sunday.

No plans for the evening after dinner, set out on the deck feet up waiting for rain drops.

Enjoy your evening all.

National Kitten Day on July 10.

Currently looking at this trip Grand Tour of Ireland | EF Go Ahead Tours like the idea of going around the island vs just a couple of spots. 2 weeks makes it worthwhile.

Looking at making own travel arrangements appears extending back to Dublin might make sense vs leaving from Belfast.
Lot of seat time for sure. Back in the 90’s we flew Germany to Hawaii round trip - no way we will spend all those hours cramped in economy.

Had briefly considered Self Drive, but decided against it. Not that many years ago wouldn’t have considered the Tour over drive. But I’d rather leave the driving to someone else and I can look out the window.

I asked a young tech savvy friend what to get
for an outdoor camera, solar powered, no monthly fee and TPZ
he suggested this:

any thoughts?
No experience with that. The Amcrest I get are around $100, plus an SD card. But you have to also have to wire ethernet cable and have a POE switch. I don't like wireless, but that might be better for you not having to run wires, etc..

Looks interesting. Friends of ours daughter just did a 1 yr college in Belfast. Her parents just got back from there rather recently , and then did a vacation to iceland also.

I see Airfare is extra. They do give the hotels they use, I wonder what it would cost to do it on your own with a car.

Yesterday it was 81F and "Fair" @ 11:45, and supposedly heading up to around 86F for the day's high. Made it to 86.5F so they were pretty much right on the money ...

Got hopper feeder refilled first thing Monday. Also seed scattered for the ground feeders.

Then spent the afternoon finishing up the mounting bracket for the diverter valve, got that all welded up and the holes drilled for mounting it on the tractor.

Friend came over in the afternoon to pick it up and dropped off the bucket for his new tractor so I can cut down his old toothbar and mounting bracket for the grapple and then weld them back up to fit the new bucket. It's 6" narrower (66" vs. 72")

Changed the bags on the 3 Japanese Beetle traps. Woman picked up scent lures the other day, so I could put up a 4th trap if I can find some place to hang it.

Woman watered the broccoli and cabbage, both of which seem to be thriving ... even if a little worm-eaten in spots:

She sprayed them with Sevin back on Monday and that will probably need to be done again once the chances for rain have passed ... likely tomorrow. Then get the hoops up and get them covered with insect netting.

She and I also spent some time weeding and watering the pepper plants, didn't quite get that finished though before She decided She had had enough (was very warm and humid):

I did a little trimming of the leaves of the Bush Beefsteaks so the eggplant and beets that are planted in between them wouldn't be shaded out.

Tomatoes are going crazy and are pretty much out of control,
Largest Sunny Boys are over 56" tall:

IMG_3343 copy.jpg

The largest Bush Beefsteaks which are only supposed to get around 24" tall are over 44" in height and the largest indeterminate tomatoes on the vertical trellis are taller than I am (6' 1")

Probably have 100's of fruits on the vine at this point:

Did some more pruning on the tomatoes ... but I'm way behind ... :(

Gave the indeterminate tomatoes on the vertical trellis and the Sunny Boys 15 minutes of water each with the soaker hoses before I knocked off for the day out there.

Went up to the shop around 23:30 last night and cut the mounting plates off the bracket for the grapple and got the toothbar moved over to work on it.

Might do that later this evening, along with moving the bucket itself up to the shop.

Currently cloudy and 68F here @ 17:15, with some light showers occasionally moving through.

LWS reports we got around 0.89" of rain from Beryl as it came through.

Most of the rain passed north of us but we managed to get a decent soaking. Lots of wind earlier when I got up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday ... (y)

Good Afternoon,
She died in 1951, I wonder what she thought of her grandson going off to war to fight the germans
Dennis, my grand parents on my fathers side immigrated from Germany in 1923. My Uncle was 4 or 5 at the time and my father wasn’t born until early 1925. All the old Germans that were here in America wanted my uncle Gunther and my father to join the Bundt ! That was basically the recruitment for the ****** youth corp ! My father and uncle wouldn’t have any of that and enlisted ! My father was in the Pacific Theater and my Uncle was in Europe. I would say they made the right decision! 😉

Woman watered the broccoli and cabbage, both of which seem to be thriving ... even if a little worm-eaten in spots:
RS, our broccoli is taking a beating even with the bag a big Beautiful job on your garden ! It’s a work of art ! 🙏

Have a good evening ! 🙏
