Good afternoon. 1630, overcast, 85F with 77% humidity. Rain chances have fell from 60% to 30% since 0900. Lots of clouds around, but no rain yet. Low of 72F tonight. Had a couple of nice showers yesterday and last night.

Hope you guys have a good weekend,

Larro

Garbage. . . . .
And at the bottom of the hill was another pile of garbage. Rather than bring that one up, we decided to throw ours down. Which is what we did.

Yep, '67 for the song, and '69 for the movie. Folks of a certain age will always remember that song. It paid Arlo's mortgage for a lot of years.

We listen to alices restaurant every thanksgiving.. A family tradition, kids don't care for it though. Lol.

Mowed most of the back field, in the dark. Tractor wouldnt start, jump starter wouldnt start it, jumping from my truck wouldn't start it. I had already cleaned the battery terminals, even put a new bolt on one. Then i jumpered the red wire to the starter, and it started. Probably the terminal end. So was about dark when i started.

It was so nice mowing, a gorgeous sunset, cooler weather, no dew, a sliver of moon in the sky.

This afternoon i cleaned the siding on the front side of the garage. It was pretty green, and the siding is gray. Jomax didnt cut it, sprayed it on, let it sit and rinse off, so they say. Out came the pressure washer and it took it right off.

Did get most of the garage cleaned and swept out. Will do another sweep monday before the cookout. Cleaning the garage means moving more junk to the barn. Like a shreader with a bad switch, fixable, but I'm already using a new one. I also have a large collection of old pellet bags. I use them as trash bags in my outside basement trash can, but i need to get rid of a few hundred extra.

I grilled chicken for supper, along with leftover jambalaya from the other night, wife baked some green beans in olive oil. I told her about Rox's EVOO on amazon, she wants to try some.

Everyone have a good night.

Ron prayers for you and your wife, hope the docs can help.

David have fun on your trip!!

Ed glad you have fun on your date!!

Buckeye good luck with your BBQ, may you not have many leftovers.

Larro, glad y'all are well.

Well I waited to shred until about 7 pm. Everything I touched seem to break, including the bush hog, so I parked it. It needs at least one bearing in the Comer gearbox. Will have to take it apart and see. Not my favorite thing to do. Might lean it against a tree to get to everything top and bottom. Crawling underneath them and having to hold up 20lb blades and starting the bolts is not fun...

Drew, could it possibly be that the road gets covered with water, then someone comes through making a big wake and your little turtle doesn't swim so well? Does the ditch carry fast water when flooding? Otherwise, if stolen, probably a young kid who doesn't think much of it....

Eric, I appreciate your tenacity at taking swan pictures. Maybe you need what we would call a swan blind to hide in...Or borrow a good telephoto lens. LOL, I have put my phone's lens up to some binoculars with OK results. Very awkward though.

Drew, replace your turtles with aluminum versions wired to a fence charger. And don't forget the game camera to watch the fun.

Good morning, rain looks to be finished, possibly just over an inch fell. I suppose many of you would think that is little more than a heavy dew.

,Mrs. mention something about going fishing late afternoon

Thomas, can you tell us the secret, how on earth did you manage to find a wife who enjoys going fishing so much ? You are so lucky.

Glad to have the shower since I tilled and planted and fertilized 3 food plots yesterday...these were the small plots, so all total less than an acre. Decided to plant by hand spreader rather than the 3 pt spreader, which I used for fertilizer. It allowed better control of the seeds, saving money, and gave me some good exercise...plus I love walking freshly tilled earth.

There is something very appealing about freshly tilled soil, just thinking about it makes me want to get out the rotavator. Can I ask what sort of seeds you were planting ?

64 going to 79 and a little sprinkle. That's about all we got from the hurricane yesterday.

Had a great dove shoot. My son and his wife and I had a blast. The wind added an extra challenge.

David, sounds like a good start to your trip...you leave a hurricane, arrive in Virginia just before one, but skip out again just in time. Hope Germany has better weather.

Eric, I planted two mixes for these fall plots...2 plots have a mix of soybeans, cowpeas, sorghum, sunflower and buckwheat...this won't produce seeds before frost kills it, but good nutrition in the young leaves until then. The other 2 plots have a mix of oats, triticale, peas, turnips, clover, radish and chicory which survives cold weather and will produce well into spring. My other standing plots are primarily clover, chicory and buckwheat. I have two more to plant that will be crimson clover as cover crops.

A cool 64 degrees going up to 80 today and no precip in the forecast for a week.
All that raking yesterday was a bit much; pine straw almost an inch thick on the driveway, pushed it like snow, four loads out in the UTV bed. I looked at those piles and thought of Larro selling this stuff that is such a headache to me. Today I'll run the pull behind blower and clean it up, blow most of what's left into the woods. At least there won't be much pine straw coming down for awhile; it was surely washed out of the pine trees quite effectively.

My inexpensive rain gauge said 3.94 inches total yesterday but both manual rain gauges were overflowing with more than five inches. Am thinking they were more accurate; like tire gauges...if two agree. This Christmas I'm going to give myself a nice weather station.

smashed the end of my right second finger taking my CC garden tractor off blocks at my friend's house, which got almost two feet of water in the basement. She and a neighbor were picking this thing up at two a.m. and putting it on blocks. I wondered how in the world I was going to get it off; only way was to pick the whole thing up by hand, which is not the ticket for my bad back. But I tested the front end, and my it was pretty light; a toy compared to my Gravely or JD. So picking it up one end at a time to get the blocks out wasn't that hard. Until the very very end when I wasn't careful enough. Tough to type with a bandaid at the end of one's finger...this too shall pass.

Mostly, are brakes on road bikes good enough to slow a bike down going that fast without a lot of fade? Sure would not want to wipe out at that speed.
I liked the fact the motorcycles were polite and helpful though passing on the right in a bicycle is a bit aggressive. Of course riding side by side the motorcycles had clogged things up a bit. Not like they thought a bicycle was coming up behind them.
Would this be considered "extreme biking"?

Poured first cup of coffee. 52° with claer skies this morning. Heading to 79° with mostly sunny skies. Weather could not be better for a holiday weekend. Not much planned. Just relax and enjoy the weather. Visiting nurse is coming out to start wife's care/therapy.
David S, Good travels.
Gary, granddaughter time is to be cherished.
Those in way of storms stay safe.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 59 here going to 78 with a 20% chance of showers before 9am. The guys are to come early monday morning so will move truck and box trailer and car into the yard today. Other than that I hope to get a nap. Less than 5 hr sleep last night, I normally get about 6. Looking forward to having the shop but not the extra noise for a day, it will likely cause stress here. Do hope to figure the best way to run wire to shop, pool and 2 patios go across the back og\f the house so where to go is the question.

Drew just plant a post in crete and epoxy the turtle to the post. Sorry you lost the 4.

Ron enjoy the date.

Have a great day Ed
