62 this morning. Headed to 73. Looks like it's going to be too windy to cut this popular trees today. I don't like cutting with more than a breeze. Oh well I have about 60 acres of Bushhoging to do. Didn't need fall cutting of hay.

Drew I wish I could remember what show it was that made an elevator out of a winch. Winch was mounted on wall then ran to pulleys on ceiling then down to the platform. Had a cable go to each corner. Seams like it had a 800 lb capacity on it. Winch was much stronger and so was cable but the platform took away from the lift.

I know what you guys are talking about with your wives. Mine has no understanding of how long things take. She sees you cut a board or weld one rod and asks what takes so long. She doesn't nag over how I do things when I help her. Cause she knows I'll leave it all for her if I can't do it right.

Good morning! 70˚ heading to high 80˚s, cloudy. Saturday was our coolest summer day ever. (Global cooling?)
My bowl project needs a 4.5" lancelot blade for my grinder which Lowe's and HD do not carry.
Rswayn - that electric cord takes up way too much valuable table top work space - but you know that - please move it soon it really bothers me there. :irked:
HF carries the Lancelot blade. Maybe a trip to Austin with a 20% off coupon will get one. I would call first.

Good Morning. 1105, overcast, 83F {heat index 94} with 85% humidity. Forecast high of 88F with 50% chance of thundershowers, and a low of 71F tonight. Had some good, slow showers yesterday afternoon and on Sunday too. And today is the first day in a long time with the heat index below 100 {so far, anyway}, so all in all, not too bad weather wise. Wednesday night's low is still forecast to be in the 60's. I'll believe it when I see it. An hour ago it was 66F, but just now when I looked it had changed to 68F. An hour from now it might be forecast as 70F.

Today is my shopping day, so I'm off to Marianna in a few minutes. Then on to work. Starting next week I have something scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday though December. It has been very slow this summer so I'm glad to have the work.

Drew, if I ever get my underground house, this will be one of the entrances. I figured some kind of moving platform wouldn't be too hard to rig up.

Hope everyone has a good day,

David....do you ever eat a great big bowl of Poi ( Kalo ) ? Hmmmm ? ;)

No, not usually. Seems an acquired taste to me. I will eat sometimes, but don't care for the more sour variety. I do like kalo leaf cooked in coconut milk, kinda spinach like.

Walked out the door this morning to head up to the shop and it was all wet outside ...

Hadn't counted on that ... so I spent the morning inside, cutting and drilling ... had to fire up the stove to take the chill off ... have almost gotten the scrap plywood disposed of.

Been a few peeps of sun in the last 1/2 hour or so ... hopefully it will come out to stay here in a bit.

69 degrees going up to 85 today. A bit warmer than yesterday and warmest of the week. Night temps are headed for the low sixties; going to be nice.
Drew,

That sounds about perfect.

hvac people coming in this week to replace gaspack unit in my garage. Good time to do it, between seasons, it seems.
What is a "gaspack unit" ... overhead space heater ?

I asked for a quote to add a split system to the garage; the hvac unit was reasonable, and about half the quote of insulating the walls in the garage, which I believe are 12 feet tall. Why so tall I have no idea...
Our garage is the same ... something I find rather odd, given the fact that the overhead door was so low in height that I couldn't even pull my pickup truck inside.

the ladder to the storage unit must have four sections; there is an enormous floored storage area above the garage, but how to get up that spindly ladder. Much less come down carrying anything. The guy who built/owned this home before was district sales mgr for an elevator company. There is a chair lift to the second floor. I would trade it for an elevator to the garage second floor...

hmmm, maybe this winter someone here can design a dumb waiter for me...small Harbor Freight winch? Would make an interesting project.
I've heard of (commercial) garage door openers being used for that ...

hope you all have a pleasant day. In the last two days I've bush hogged the field part of the property; took less than three hours, easy to do. Plus last night it was cooler out and I went out and did some more lawn mowing.
Just to be "out there". And boy was it nice.
Good to hear you are having a good time on "the adventure" ... ;)
