G'morning. 74 and damp outside.
Waiting for the morning dew to dry up to mow. I'm hoping I can get most of it done in about 4-5 hours.

Today dump run

Might want to call the dump first...when I was writing my post, I recalled seeing a sign at the Bethel/Royalton dump that they'd be closed on 03 Sept. for the holiday weekend.

Well, that serves me right for believing the weather forecast. I thought I would have a few more hours to get things done in the dry, but turned out not to be, so I've just got a fair soaking getting everything under cover. Worst of all is that my wife says the rain coming early now gives me even more time to finish painting inside.

Kyle, I did try again for a swan pic this morning. Still a little shy and not quite ready to pose for the camera.

Those have got to be some of the shy-ist swans around...:)

When we have wild ducks on our pond, they can see us coming and fly off when we are still 200 meters away. Same for the bass eating greater egrets.

66 going to 78, and maybe another shower or two.

Drew, which manufacturer are you going with? I have been toying with the idea of a metal barn...looked at some by Carolina Carports and Eagle and one other I can't recall.

Newmart Builders. I first looked at Carolina Carports through a dealer in VA, that has a beautiful website and seemed like nice people but they just market CC. And Google Carolina Carports and look at their online ratings. Scary.
So I went to a local dealer who has a diffferent NC company build the pieces, and they install, certified to I think 130mph.

spent almost two hours raking junk, not too bad. Left big piles everywhere, need to come back and do that, as my friend on the river got almost two feet in her basement and I need to go help her. Luckily she had everything up, including my garden tractor she is using. At two am last night her neighbor came over and helped her put the mower up on blocks.
The least I can do is help her get it off. I have rubber truck ramps that should do nicely.

And last night in this storm someone came along and stole my last nice turtle. The really heavy small one that never moves. Every remaining turtle is damaged in some way; they have now stolen four nice turtles. Someone local who doesn't like me I suppose, pretty aggravating actually. I had moved the turtle for the storm, and the water never got that high, but it was missing when I went out this morning. Turtle-nappers may they go somewhere very hot. i'm not replacing them, what's the point. And someone likely thinks they are just way cool to do this. Sad.

going to be tuckered out by the end of today.

Good morning, took the day off work yesterday and took my granddaughter to the 162nd Harrow fair. Price of rides were outrageous but it was worth it to see the smile on my 8 year old granddaughter's face.

I need a 12hp verticle shaft engine to put in my old wheelhorse riding mower. All the predator verticle engines are smaller hp.

Speaking of picnics, I'm cleaning out the garage for my annual labor day bbq that I host for my church family. I set up food in the garage with AC. I provide and grill the meat, burgers, chicken, brats (including ornary ones), and hotdogs. People bring sides. Usually have 30-40 people, have had over 100. I'm prepared for 60.

Still got to mow, either tomorrow or mon am. Will mow the field today sometime. I trimmed around the field last night, and sharpened the mower blades.
Gotta go pick up some tables.

Tbn'ers welcome to drop by monday, eat at 5.

CNN storm tracker
nicely shows how this storm is being blown Eastward headed right to Eric I suppose...
Not before a stop here, literally, the forecast is for Hermine to be off our coast for 3-4 days, wreaking havoc on the beaches, trees and flooding everything in sight. Supposed to strengthen into a cold core hurricane tomorrow and hang around way too long. we have had some rain and winds, not too bad yet. We have tropical storm, flood and rip current warnings, not sure who would go swimming. One local forecast model has it going out to sea tonight, I hope it's right and the other 20 or so are wrong!
I mowed yesterday and got more done towards installing my hitch.
We were supposed to have a beautiful sunny and cool fall weekend, thanks Hermine! What kind of name is Hermine, anyway!?
Everyone, be safe, be happy.
