There is a word for that: addlepated

Save you a lot of typing in your decrepitude.

I'm always trying to make life easier for the senior citizens among us.

What did you say, dave1949.....?

18F @ 17:45 ...

Was mostly sunny today and that helped get the temp here in the house up to 68F ...

Woke up a little bit ago ... just checked the stove and it was down to just some coals in the bottom and the blower had shut-off ...

The wood pile up at the shop is mostly empty, save for a couple of odd pieces that need to be cut to fit into either of the stoves ... the wood pile here at the house has been gone for several days now.

There are some rounds up in the field ... some of it is from a nice straight-grained maple and is seasoned ... but most of it is from some type of maple with a real twisty grain and is unseasoned ... it's an absolute _____ to split by hand. Kinda like hard rubber ... try to sink an axe head into it with a sledge hammer and it just bounces off.

Talked to the girl that answers the phone at the HVAC company this morning ... she had no info on the replacement gas valve. Told her I wanted her to call and check at their supplier and give a call back - one way or the other - by the end of business today - which she agreed to do. 17:00 rolled around and nada ...

That right there tells me I'm dealing with absolute morons ...

Looks like New Years Day will be spent gathering firewood ... at least it won't be quite as cold.

Happy New Year ... y'all stay safe out there.

Can't understand what Roy is bitching about....AT LEAST I wished him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY...did he wish me one....oh no, he probably was so old and absent minded he forgot the date....

One old geezer to another...I didn't forget since I never realized it was your birthday...if it was.

For you guys calling me old, ancient, etc., well, you'll be here one day...if you're lucky!

Larro, what's in your "traditional" new year's day meal?
be interesting to compare that to the fare in Texas or Hawaii.
Are peas a treat or don't you eat them anyway?
or do you just prepare them "special"?

Considering all the fats and sugars consumed over the prior weeks, probably be
good if we all ate some broiled fish.

Drew, in the South there is a tradition of eating black eyed peas and hog jowls on New Year's Day. It is thought to bring prosperity in the new year. But I think the black eyed peas part was a Jewish tradition for a couple three thousand years before there was a South. I don't use fat meat, but a nice slice of ham in mine. I think most food traditions come from what you had as a kid, with a few changes for taste. As far as the rest of the meal, it is what ever we are in the mood for. This Year Margie is in the mood for something Cajun.
