29F and cloudy @ 06:00 ...
Supposed to be sunny with a high of 36F today ... so I might give getting something done outside today a shot. Still have more a lot more leaves to pick up around the barn, and the yard could be run over again, given that the oak leaves are continuing to come down.
Went down to Cross Truck Equipment and picked up 2' feet of 6" tube to extend the wood
chipper discharge chute and snagged a couple of 3/8" shackles and 1/4" spring lock pins for some parking stands while I was there ... also grabbed a can of Fluid Film. This will be the 1st time I've ever tried this "miracle fluid" ... I hear everyone talking about it, so I figured I better check it out and get with the program.
And I ordered the flanges (which will allow the chute to rotate 360 degrees) from McMaster (along with a 24" x 24" piece of expanded metal for the brush guard on the Kubota) ... they should be here Monday, if not today.
Raising the discharge chute by 2' should allow me to shoot chips into the dump cart ... although I may have to hinge the chute so it can be lowered to get it inside the shop, since the overhead door is only 7' tall.
Replaced all the funky Chicom grease fittings on the
chipper yesterday and got the feed roller pulled along with cutting off the handle that raises it. Looks like it will need bent a little to line up with where I intend to place it. Experimented a little with sharpening the teeth on the feed roller ... tried using my little 3" air-driven cut-off tool ... wasn't happy with how that turned out ... think they are going to have to filed by hand with a triangular file.
Did a bunch of clean up in the shop including the main workbench ... probably can now actually be used to work on something ... lol ...
Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.
