Nice and cloudy and cool 71 after last night's t-storms...the thunder was like listening to different armaments blasting different sounds just outside the window...even the local TV weatherman commented about how load and unusual it was. Heading to 84.
The nearly 2.5 inches of rain knocked out our internet...has happened before after a big rain. I guess the phone company has a leak underground somewhere. I spent 28 minutes on the phone at 5am going through automated menus and then talking with a friendly man in India, I presume. Ultimately, I satisfied him that I knew how to troubleshoot, and do diagnostics on the router/modem, and was awarded a trouble ticket with a dispatch time of: any time, all day on Sept 5. Wow!
At least we didn't get the wind damage here, rip.
I had in the back of my mind that it might be back up by noon, on its own. It is up, and was by only 9:30.
Rip, congrats on the cool milkhouse. So much work makes you feel good. What are you using to value the coins? We have my FIL's collection that we need to do the same. Wondering about using the internet...when I was a kid, we used the "blue book", and then the "red book."
got some cedars on my VA property, not sure if big enough to make any lumber out of, but want some of them down.
I've used many for fence posts and other projects.
Plow, real nice looking fence, etc. Should do the job.
Scott, cool pix...I bet you wanted to fire up that Citation.
Don, glad the surgery went well. I see you managed a few Caps already.
Drove to Virginia Beach to visit with my mom in the rehab facility yesterday. She is doing well. Took much longer than normal...they had closed the east bound Hampton to Norfolk tunnel as they are doing construction of the 3rd parallel tube and trestle...a real mess...so had to take the Newport News to Suffolk tunnel, and then the Portsmouth to Norfolk tunnel to get there. Since I was therefore running late, I did a conference call with the med team...it even held up in the tunnel.
At least it was back to normal on the way home. Saw 3 aircraft carriers in port...unusual to see that many...and a huge container ship approaching port with a very high superstructure...not sure it could make it under any Chesapeake Bay bridges unless they can lower it. It may have just been an optical illusion.
