Practice run for the great escape?

Seriously, Hope your dad is OK. Wow, 95 and still shredding. You've reminded me. I have an underground nest of bees I need to go spray.
Cant keep him in the house. His 2 friends that hunt on him keep offering to mow for him, he would say, oh it's ok... He wants to do it himself, but really cant, or shouldnt. He's getting over a kidney infection, where water was colecting in his lungs.

The problem is he wont tell anyone, so they can check on him. Some of the fields are pretty steep.

He can't stand to see the fields grow up. He broke the shear bolt, doesnt remember hitting anything. Probably put a regular bolt in. I warned him. He also doesnt put up the roll bar, i keep telling him to. It's down to fit in barn. Stubborn as a mule.

If I understand you right, the fire department is putting pressure on you to cut your field, even though it's a tinderbox? Perhaps you could share your concern with them that you could start a fire that would take out the whole neighborhood, and suggest that maybe they'd like to station a pumper or two nearby when you attempt to comply with their directive. That way you can both be seen as doing your best to keep everyone happy, and having done your due diligence, minimize the outcome if things take a turn for the worst. :confused2:
There you go using logic again... LOL

BTW, I learned this morning that Peter Fonda took the big ride over the rainbow. Easy Rider and Captain America is a big part in how I ended up hooked on motorcycles. Dunno if that's good or bad, but the world is diminished by his passing.:grumpy:
But when his daughter goes, a lot of vets will celebrate.

Plenty of breeze this morning, which is good as I need to dry out more sand to be able to run it through a sieve.

Yesterday I spent quite a few hours staring close up at a brick wall, preparing another small section for re-pointing and as usual it was quite therapeutic (well, at least it got my mind of the thistles for a while). Each brick is very different to the next, being made by a hand that was untroubled by thoughts of ISO 9001 consistency in manufacturing. Over the years new openings have been made as farming practices changed and old ones closed with widely varying spacing between each brick, let alone any attempt to follow the original bond pattern. The result is a wall that is simultaneously ugly and full of charm. I have inadvertently become custodian of something that deserves to last much longer than me and strangely feel obliged to look after it beyond the requirements of what is laid down in my building permits. :confused3:

BEF, your dad is an inspiration to all

59 right now...high in the low 80's
I probably should have mowed yesterday...we got a couple torrential downpours late afternoon into the early evening...looks to be pretty humid outside, so it probably won't dry much.
As far as today, I have to help my stepdaughter assemble a fire pit...get my gear ready for a three day trip to Connecticut (leave Tuesday evening, return Friday night). Maybe mow if it dries up enough...

Poured first cup of coffee. 66° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 87° with good chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Woke up around 4 am. Looked at digital weather display. It showed over 2" of rain. Check manual rain gauge. Same amount. That must have been a good downpour. Never got any of the items on my list yesterday. Home care people visited for 4 hours. Back on the list for today.

Buckeye, sure is nice that your friend is making the ramp. While your Dad is a inspirations doing chores at his age. Like you I would be very worried. Prayers for both of you and your wife having a safe trip home.

Randy, hope the at home recovery is going good. Prayers sent.

David, glad you found the link. Had to look up coelacanth.

Eric, when looking at all the thistledown blowing from the field next to me. I do not see how it can be controlled.

RNG. RNG VFD

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.
