Good morning all. I am up late today, usually I am up at 5 not 7.

Temp this morning temp 11 going to 16 with light snow. Wind WSW 7 mph. It is snowing now and has been most of the night.

The lady who I turned down to clean out her driveway, her regular guy came by with his tractor and a rear blade and plowed her out. I was talking to him while he was axle deep in her ditch (He slid off the edge much like I did at the beginning of last winter), he didn't have a chain and neither did I. He told me he took a bearing out of his blower and that is why he did it with the blade. Anyway, all ended well. He got out of the ditch and she got her lane way cleaned out.

Eric, now that we have you spelling correctly with regards to tires , next we can work on airport.:D

I will be going out this afternoon to scrape some more snow. I am working on my snow dumps now to get them where I want them for later in the season.

Have a good day all.

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 6:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 64F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph.

Agreed, Buppies, Cosgrove's long term forecast looks warm and dry for the west coast, all the way through January. I really like this weather, but the farmers and skiers sure don't. If it keeps up, we'll be back to rationing water again, at least those that aren't on wells, and even those with wells will be wondering if they'll be deep enough. It's also going to be difficult getting people to conserve after a summer when they had plenty of water. I should probably wash one of the motorcycles to get the rain to come back.

Only fifteen days 'till Christmas, and it sure doesn't feel like Christmas out here...

:welcome:to the asylum, James! Always room for one more.

Mid sixties and sunshine were enough to shoot some paint yesterday; basecoat/clearcoat silver and single stage satin black on a few old motorcycle parts I missed over the summer. Still playing around trying to find the best way to clean aluminum engine and transmission cases and get them looking factory new. Vapor blasting seems to be the best so far, but I don't want to take them apart down to the bare case. I've tried various concoctions containing phosphoric acid, but the leave the metal dark, not almost white. Neither Flitz nor Semichrome work on the castings, either. Any of you out there have a favorite?

This nice weather has been good for the wood pile; just one dose of #2 Diesel was all it took to get a campfire going yesterday evening. Maybe I'll dig out a piece of old tarp and nail it down over the pile to try to keep it dry when/if the rains come back. In the meantime, we have had enough rain that the hills are starting to turn green again, and enough that the deer are back to snacking in the back yard.

We had about another inch overnight, about 7” total, very wet and heavy, lots of broken limbs. I’ve got one off a holly tree in the front yard, haven’t checked in the back yet.

Get well everyone.

Morning all. 37° so the white stuff is melting.
Going to miss a party today. After church service a bunch of us eats at a local italian place. A couple yrs ago, an elderly gentleman moved here from Vandalia IL, to live near his daughter. He started coming out to eat with us over a yr ago. Today we are having a surprise party for his 90th birthday. Wish i could be there. Really nice and funny guy.

Was having some pain last night, not in my surgery area, so not sure what was up, maybe gas related. Got thru with tylenol. Not much appetite this morning, maybe just getting tired of packaged oatmeal.

65°F and no rain

Good time at Christmas party yesterday. Spent too much money at Costco, as usual.

Kekoa has a play date over to a friends later. This is unchsrtered territory for me. These are good friends whose puppy was in class behind Kekoa but didn’t finish as he didn’t travel well. What does one do on a doggy play date???

Unable to find a hinge router guide yesterday. Might need a plan B and just free hand the mortises. I did buy the Ryobi palm router. Looks like it should be easier to handle than full size.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Good morning this is James

It is cold here, and I only have one portable indoor oil filled heater, the big central heat is too much for one gent to run.

What portable indoor heaters do you all use which are safe and toasty

cheers to you
James

Welcome James,
We use the Presto Parabolic electric heater it really works good.

  • Feels like three times the heat of a 1500 watt convection
  • Focuses heat where it's needed most - on You! Virtually instant heat.
  • Helps save money. Costs a third less to operate than 1500 watt heaters.
  • Safeguard protection! Turns off automatically in case of accidental tip over. Handy built-in cord wrap for convenient storage
  • 120 Volts AC, 1000 Watts. Ideal for office and home use

And it makes absolutely NO noise, it is silent.
The control knob is adjustable like a dimmer switch so you can find your perfect setting.

We bought ours at Costo last year after I walked by one they had on and never felt that much heat before from an electric heater, I had to have it. There is no fan in it and it feels like you just walked into the sunlight and have instant warmth.

Snow blower is off the truck and I used it to clear the walks. The skid shoes are set too high for the walks, so I'll have to adjust them (previous owner had them set high because he cleared a gravel/dirt drive).
I also did my drive with the tractor...not really enough snow for a snow blower, but figured I'd do it since I had to move the tractor anyway.
Guy came by and bought the chains I had for my Deere 4400...
Pretty good day, all in all!
Time for a beer!

29F and cloudy @ 12:00. Looks like a bit of snow to the north and west, none here at the moment however.

Early night yesterday, only stayed up in the shop until around midnight ... feet/legs/back were bothering me after standing on concrete for 12 hours.

Managed to almost get the top and bottom toolboxes cleaned out. Have to remember to keep that lid on the top box closed, unless I'm actually getting something out or putting it away. Also got a mothball put in each drawer.

Also got four of the ten 8' fluorescent bulbs cleaned ... wow ... what a difference that made.

No idea what's on the menu for today.
