Position of cylinder rod will change after setting to proper length. Check valve should lock it in place. I only use top and tilt cylinders with rear blade and landscape rake. Want to use top link with more attachments.

I asked because I have a similar issue with my LS XR4155HC. Both top and side link cylinders extend fairly quickly under load. I can disconnect hydraulic hoses from the QD’s and nothing moves so, it’s valve block, for the three remotes, that’s the problem. Is that your issue as well??

Mine is still under warranty so, I’m pressuring the dealer to get this resolved.

Which check valve did you buy?

Ron, great color in that picture. I think you'll have a lot of fun with your new camera.

Same issue as you have. Not sure you could fix it with replacing valve. I have 5 different valves on my tractor. They all leak down some. More noticeable with my small cylinders on top and tilt.

I got mine from Agristoreusa.com. 10 1/16" kit.

I caught that picture as I was trying to get a little better shot of woodpecker eating.

Good morning! 39˚F heading to the 60s clear skies.
Trail blazers called yesterday wanted to prep a trail for an open house later this month so the tractor repair her got pushed back a day. Today FireWise got canceled so tractor zerk day.
Ended up in 4th place for the last quarter in hand and and foot and started up the new year with 3W 2L last night.
Time to walk the Whip.

Ron, great action pic of the colorful woodpecker. The suet in it's beak makes the pic.

Good Morning everyone!!!

A mixed clouds/sun 23ºF for today’s low temperature; 27ºF presently with increasing sun; and I anticipate more clouds and temperature ~32ºF this PM. I received 1.25” of snow yesterday which is not helping the footing around here. I’ll probably be seeing occasional snow showers the rest of the week as different fronts roll through and a snow to mixed to all rain event Friday into the warming weekend. I need to take Wifey to a doctor’s appointment and pick up some supplies this PM.

Phil- I am sorry to read about your gout and now new associated challenges. I hope you get some relief soon. Take care.

Billy- I like your Jotul. I wish ours could take a 23” log. A hot wood stove feels real good this AM.

“Winter on hiatus”- Buppies. You sum it up rather nicely. A depressing Winter for serious snow lovers so far this season. I am surprised that I have received +31” of snow so far.

RonJH- Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Kyle- Wood ashes can really raise the soil’s pH to the point of harming acid loving plants and if I remember correctly there is the risk of longterm concentration of toxic residues from the constant direct application of wood ashes, but it is pretty decent addition for composting with reasonable use.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

29°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 47° today.

I sent an email to our landscaper at the end of November detailing our disappointment in the lack of progress on our pond renovation. I listed the myriad promises he'd made us and not kept over the course of the last eight months, for a project that shouldn't have taken more than a couple of weeks or even a month at most. I told him I needed two things from him; 1) a schedule to complete the work in a timely manner, and 2) for him to adhere to that schedule. No more excuses, just results. Naturally, we didn't hear back from him by the date I told him we needed it the following week. He finally sent a text message to The Wife last week asking if she got his schedule. She told him we'd both been checking email and junk folders, and had received nothing. She asked him to send it again. We still have not received it. Yesterday, he showed up with a couple of skid steers, a couple more loads of fill dirt, and a mini-ex to start digging the new overflow drainage down to the road ditch.
(shaking my head) Like RNG and his ex-mechanic, I'll be glad to be done with this guy. He's making me use blue language.

Bummer about the gout, Phil. Hope it gets better.

Nice pics, Ron.

wow another massive pileup in Maine this time.
concept of following too close (to be able to stop in time) seems not well understood.
Worse the driving, further back you should drive. (until some fool tries to pass you in the snow)
We get dense fog here at times and folks are out driving without their headlights on and driving way faster than they can see to stop.

I wonder how many of these huge wrecks are caused by the trucks or the cars. A woman and two children died in the last wreck.

Our Jotul is rated for 24" logs, and I've even stuck one longer in at an angle, but rarely go more than 20" because the rounds are so heavy to handle while cutting/hauling/splitting.

Regarding ashes, yes, I'd read they can be a substitute for lime, which is what I've used them for, especially in the higher pH area. I have clover growing there now, and it is doing extremely well. I used only a small amount in the compost pile.

64°F and .4 inches rain.

Looks like hit the reset button for what I didn’t.’t do yesterday. Same concerns as it is raining as I type.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Rick, if you order one of the valves. Make sure it will fit you cylinders. I need to modify mine to make it work. Which I was aware of before I bought.

28°

In to work a little earlier, but waste lots of time in traffic going early.

Calling for 1-3” snow later. That will shut down this area

When I bought my last house it came with a tiny Jotul wood stove. Was cute. I sold it and bought a stove that would hold a 24” piece of wood.

Thanks Ron. I’m going to put significant heat on LS to resolve this ... before going that route.

I’m not sure I’m understanding exactly what you and Ron are talking about with the valves, maybe I’m just dense. I’d like to understand it if you don’t mind dumbing it down a bit.

Just started to snow here in upper MD, but almost quit after about 5 minutes. Forecast is for 1-3”, but I’ll believe it when I see it!

I left work before it started there, but was already accumulating at my house.
Was in some heavy snow on I70.
Around 1/2” on now and snowing steady.IMG_3079.JPG

Check valves are an added safety feature that keep the cylinder locked in position and prevent drift.
