Good morning!!!!

Drinking last cup of coffee. 22° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 24° with off and on flurries. Took a 15 minute nap yesterday afternoon. Woke up and everything had turned white. Been off and on flurries since then. Got walkways cleaned already this morning. Did some measuring on check valve and cylinder yesterday. Going to call company to see what fittings they have. My cylinder has 1/4" ORB fittings and fittings on banjo fittings are 3/8" BSP. May not be as easy to make a fitting that will not leak as I thought.

Eric, I am finding similar with car battery. But at least I get out and drive over 10 miles a couple of times each week. My car still has original battery after 5 years. First owner got it in October of 2014.

Phil, hope the new meds work.

Looking, sorry for your loss.

Don, I had to look at picture on my computer to see what it was. Glad you got it fixed.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning. It’s 31° here this morning and NWS Forecast says we’ll have a 40° change to a high of 71° this afternoon. NWS is forecasting high 70’s for next couple of days and good chance of much needed rain Thursday and Friday. Fingers crossed!

Probably more tree trimming today. We’ve built 4 more good sized burn piles with cut down cedars on the bottom and old dead trees on top. We need some rain before lighting them up.

Everyone have an excellent “Hump Day” today.

Prayers to all.

Good morning. Mild for us too, 9C/48F. There won't be any sunshine today, otherwise this is great weather for January with little wind and no rain expected until this evening.

Have to get our cars on the battery charger today while it is dry. One is just under and the other just over 2 years old, yet both batteries have already lost most of their capacity. Without going out to work every day, they just don't get used long enough to replenish the current squandered by the every hungry wireless receivers in the door locks. I suspect these that detect the keys in your pocket waste a lot more power than the previous generation that required a button press.

Yikes both, my vehicles are wireless and in addition my Ranger is also a hotspot with it's own phone number so it can tell me where I parked. Eric how did you test your batteries to determine they have lost most of their capacity after just two years?

The hot spot on the Ranger came free for 90 days and then I don't know what will happen, I have not set up an account and probably will not, but AT&T now has if you add a line you get a iPhone 8 free ($450 value) so I wonder if this would be considered adding a line if I add it to my account? Does anyone else have a hot spot vehicle?

Good morning!
A heavy frost this morning an unexpected freeze 27˚. Only scheduled entertainment today is a play tonight at the Amenity center.
I saw the DOG WASH trailer in our neighborhood and was going to see if they had time to do Whip but they had left when I was returning from our walk yesterday so I had to giver her her doggie bath yesterday in the 74˚F weather. She is soft and pretty today. The walk-in shower is good for old people and dogs.

Don .. these Ancel battery testers work well and give you lots of information on the condition of your batteries. It can test your alternator too.

BTW ... heavy frost here too.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 6:00AM. Areas of patchy fog early. Mostly cloudy skies. High 51F. Winds light and variable.

A good DVM will have the ability to handle a ten amp in line measurement. With the key out of the ignition, disconnect the ground lead to the battery, hook the negative lead of the meter to the negative lead of the battery, the positive lead of the meter to the ground cable, and see if there's a current present. If there is, look up the amp hour rating of your battery. You can divide the amp hour rating by the current measurement and see how long it will take to completely discharge your battery. But lead acid batteries don't like to be discharged by more than 20% of their capacity before they start losing the ability to reach a full charge. So better to multiply the amp hour rating by 0.2, then do the math above, to see how long the parasitic loads from the car will take to slowly kill your battery. If you're even more curious, you can start pulling fuses one at a time while the meter is hooked up to try and determine just what is causing the parasitic current draw. Then check a good shop manual to see if that's normal for that circuit, or if there's something wrong.

Picked up only 0.04" of rain overnight, pretty much what was expected. Today will be dry, then more rain tonight and tomorrow morning. We can use all we can get at this point, so it's a good thing most of next week will see showers each day.

Got a call from the environmental health lady yesterday while I was in Costco, and decided to take it since we've been having so much trouble communicating. She still isn't able to receive any of my emails, and takes forever to return calls. But she wants to come out tomorrow and make some measurements, and maybe probe the ground to try and locate the leach lines, which is all good by me. She also says she'll sign off on the building permit if I promise to fix any leach lines I damage. I'd call that a done deal. But if she can show me where the lines are, I won't be digging any of them up.

Looks like I'll be working on the van today, swapping out the fuel pressure regulator and water temperature sensor. The idle air control valve threw another error yesterday, too, so I think I'll take that off while I'm in there and give it a good cleaning, too.

Wednesday already? Where has the week gone?:confused2:

31°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 45° today. Expecting rain tomorrow and Friday, turning to snow before it ends on Saturday. At this point they are suggesting that we could get anywhere from nothing to several inches. Gotta love that kind of precision.

Got a call from the Kia dealership yesterday afternoon telling me my Soul was ready. I was happy to get it back. Nothing against the Rogue loaner, but frankly, it's kind of a dog. My little 4-banger with 170K miles on it has more pep than that thing. Unfortunately, in my haste to get home, I left the spare garage door opener on the visor in the loaner. Called them when I got home, and the guy at the parts desk (where they process the loaners and rentals, oddly enough) is holding it for me to pick up on my way home tonight.

My car still has original battery after 5 years. First owner got it in October of 2014.

When I took my car into the dealer last week, I was telling the service rep that it not only still has the original battery, but I've also never had to change a bulb on it yet. I've changed the filters, wiper blades, tires, and now the brakes and rotors, but everything else on the thing is original from the factory at 5-1/2 years old. It really has been a great car.

Got to 27 early, up to 44 now, and very windy with bright sunshine.
Doctor told me I can drink regular coffee again. I’m sleeping normally again for the first time in 7-8 months.
Not much on the agenda today, too cold outside and not in the mood for inside stuff.
Have a good day folks, prayers for all.

The gout can be rough mpham I take One pill daily to keep it at bay still have to watch what I eat

Here is a study on purine intake and how it affects gout.
Purine-rich foods intake and recurrent gout attacks

Conclusions:
The study findings suggest that acute purine intake increases the risk of recurrent gout attacks by almost fivefold among gout patients. Avoiding or reducing amount of purine-rich foods intake, especially of animal origin, may help reduce the risk of gout attacks.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

A hazy sunny 24ºF for today's low with light mood flakes falling; 31ºF presently with increasing sunshine; and I anticipate a mostly sunny PM with high temperature in the low 30ºF's. The snow/icepack in my woods and hill has compressed (~4" - 5") enough to support my weight. I tried out my new crampons for the first time this AM and was seriously impressed with their performance uphill and downhill. I was gripping while Brogen was slipping ;) My only complaint is they are a PITA to take off = my boots are now dedicated to the crampons and my YakTrax are dedicated to my snowshoe boots. With NWS advisory levels for wind predicted later today I will try the crampons out on my lower field later today if the icepack will support my weight. Other than moving some wood around and counting calories birds today I do not have any real plans.

Phil- Good luck with the new meds. I hope that they work.

I hope that everyone is having a decent and manageable day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I still have not received my part from gmpartsdirect (and they have not responded to emails), so went ahead and ordered from Amazon seller (not available before). They confirmed fitment and shipped it out in a few days, got it Monday, now to get it installed (need to drop steering column to replace the steering angle sensor).. it should take less than an hour, so I will figure a couple hours.

Wife went and visited her 95 yr old Dad yesterday, she met one of her brothers and they went together. It was a good visit, they took him to lunch. Wife's other siblings don't want her around so it can get tense (one of her siblings still lives at home).

Transition to new job is slow, but at least it is moving forward.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need

65°F and 1.54 inches rain.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat. No mowing yesterday. Concrete never even dried out. Likely more of same today.

Did manage to get State taxes filed and 2019 spreadsheets ready to convert to 2020, so still a productive day.

Inside day ahead

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting and well conducted research. BTW, If I read this right, the highest risk gout patients were reported to have eaten the equivalent of 6.4 pounds of meat over the 2 days. That's a lot.

Dried beans are no longer considered much of a risk factor, other plant purines aren’t either. Turkey is high in purines but beef or seafood causes me way more problems. The worst for me is bison, very lean and I love it, but a bison burger is a sure way to gout within 24-48 hours for me. I don’t drink alcohol anymore, but it was another sure trigger.

30° leaving this morning. A few more flurries on the drive. Remembered after leaving my washer fluid was low, so stopped before interstate and bought a gallon and poured most of it in. Really needed it on wet, salty interstate. 15 min later noticed my hood shaking. Quick pull over to shoulder and close hood all the way.
Then lots of backups, despite going in so late.

Sunny and 41° now.

A snow squall rolled through earlier this PM dropping a quick 1/4" of new snow.

The new crampons are exceeding my expectations. :)
