Good Morning! 62F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 97F. Winds light and variable.
The reviews I've read on the Takedown say zero is unchanged by the process, but I'd be curious to see what you find, Roy. Fun testing for sure!
Farmer, was the copper also discolored? A shiny gray color is a good sign that the wire overheated.
Got an email about 9AM yesterday from the title company that is handling the sale of my Mom's house. It contained an attachment consisting of many forms that had to be signed and notarized, but all of which had to be read and verified for accuracy. One, which conveyed title from the family trust in which the house is currently held to the new owners, listed the home's value as $10. Yep, that's right, ten dollars! So I called the title company and called the error to the agent's attention, and was told that state law in Ohio prevents them from listing the actual price, and that's how everybody handles it. I asked her if this was a legal document, and she confirmed it was. Then I asked how it could be legal when it contained blatant errors? But it was either sign the document or escrow would not close, so I hope I didn't just give Mom's house away for ten bux!
But the fun was just beginning. My local BofA branch has free notary service, so I made an appointment using their web site so I wouldn't have to wait in line. I arrived fifteen minutes early and was spotted by a clerk that I remembered as being rude and not very customer service oriented, and was told by her that the bank didn't have a notary public and hadn't for over a year. And further, that NONE of the other banks had one, either! I explained to her that the BofA web site advertises that all branches have notaries, and that the appointment request I'd made earlier that morning had specified my need for notary services. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. As I turned to leave a young manager caught up to me to apologize, confirming that the branch indeed had no notary, but that he'd missed the appointment request and would have called to advise me of that fact. Nice of him to say that, but this is just another screw up in a long series of screw ups with that bank. Each time I say it'll be the last and I'm switching, but I think this time is really it. I ended up at a UPS store that not only had a notary public, but also copied the signed documents and started the envelope on it's way to the title company, all in one stop. But that convenience cost me thirty two bux for something that the bank used to provide for free.
There was better news at the mechanic's, as he was happy with the grinding I'd done on the cylinder heads. He was hoping for more than the 2 ccs of volume (43 cc to 45 cc) I'd found, but said it could be compensated by increasing the valve relief cuts in the pistons. So I'll get those knocked out this weekend and run the heads back to him Monday so he can get started putting the motor together.
Mr. Trump was making his acceptance speech on the radio on the way home, and he seemed to have something for everyone in his bag of promises. The disturbing thing is he seemed to think he could deliver on all of them all by himself. As in "When I'm sworn in on January 20th, 2017 I'll do such and such!" In spite of our current President's proclivity for expanding his reach by circumventing the law, it's hard for me to imagine how effective Trump can be when he will have to fight not only the Democrats, but his own party to get anything done. But maybe that's the best reason to vote for him, as in my experience keeping big gummint hog tied so that nothing gets done has been the safest mode of operation.
TGIF gang!
