Good morning!!!!

61 on the way to low 90s today. A few clouds, chance of shower here and there... next week supposed to be hotter again.

I really enjoy reading the good morning thread, working from home has some negatives, one of them being not saying hi to coworkers as folks are getting coffee and starting their day. This thread is nice that way..

Good morning all!

Perhaps this weekend I will tackle the finish mower and sharpen blades. I was not able to get the bolts loose last time I tried, but have since remembered a trick my Pa used occasionally. Wedge the wood block in to hold the blade, then use a box end wrench on the bolt. With everything held just right, wack the wrench with 5lb sledge hammer. That is my next plan..

We bought our Ferris IS700Z this spring and I have to tell you, I still enjoy mowing the yard. I had planned on putting a homemade canopy on it attached to ROPS but don't want to tear things up mowing around the trees so have held off for now. Since it only takes an hour now to mow, I can wait until late when it cools off a bit to mow, or get up early and mow (grass has dew on it, but the new mower handles it fine).

Have a great day!

I just checked the soil temp in my garden 4" down. It is 118˚. I have had a piece of plastic on top of for 30 hours and trying to get to the magic 125˚ (for 6 weeks) to kill all weed seeds. Kyle what temp are you getting up to?

I haven't checked yet. I have a bit of a terrarium because i didn't knock everything down to dirt level first.

72 high of 95 today with high humidity makes it feel like 105 hot darn hot and the plant we are pulling from likes to make its mix at 350 plus oh my going to be a hot day.

geez I'm starting to sweat in sympathy. Going to try to do all my projects this morning, hot here too.
Let's everyone be careful in the high heat.

Headed over to Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks, directly East of me, on Sunday, taking the two hour ferry ride each way.
Never done that before and was time I did. Having lunch there with friends.

Been on the island many times, always either by ferry from Hatteras or in my own boats. Use to be wild cattle on the island, a Brahma mix, ill tempered and nasty but great breeding stock.
Our weather is like Buppies', too d@mn hot!

69°F and .68 inches rain last 24 hours. Raining as I type, effects from our approaching tropical storm.
Be safe
Have a great day.

Eric, I ran Basic Rifle Marksmanship for Army basic train at Ft Dix for a bit. I don't remember that as being one of the taught positions. Standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and ?? :)

Actually clear plastic is better for penetrating heat gain - "Plastic material: In general, transparent or clear plastic is most effective for solarization, as the heating rays from the sun will pass through the sheet and be trapped to heat the soil below. Usually, black plastic is less effective because it absorbs and deflects part of the heat rather than trapping as clear plastic does. "

Interesting, Don. I learned something new.

I have electric impact wrench. Works great to removing and installing mower blades.
IN the open areas of my lawn it would be nice to have a canopy on my tractor and mower. But it would not be long before I ran it into something that was to low for it too clear.

Got all my roadbanks mowed until the heat just made things miserable.
Trailered my CC back down to my friend's home and did not need to remind her to not
mow any more metal lawn sprinklers with it.

Shower and a/c felt wonderful.
July 22nd already, isn't Fall coming?

Good morning! 73˚ heading to 101˚/ heat index 105. Eric my last batch of carrot cake had a new flavor added, a nectarine. I think I'm on to something.
The Bluebell ice-cream company down Hwy 290 in Brenham always comes out with different flavors I think I'll do some experimenting with my carrot cake/muffin recipe.

"This brand new flavor from Blue Bell will have your taste buds two-steppin? Cookie Two Step is a creamy vanilla ice cream with hints of brown sugar, combined with chunks of chocolate cr鑪e filled cookies and tasty chocolate chip cookie dough pieces."

Beware Drew they are expanding to you, to sabotage your diet: What's New at Blue Bell

Drew, my cousin's kid (another cousin story Ron) who works for Bluebell, and an Aggie engineering design graduate, redesigned the machinery to correct the problems with listeria. He is also a very good welder and installer so after he designed it he was asked to install it. He was getting tons of overtime when other were being laid off. Anyway my cousin now says his son assures him there is no more problems, so enjoy.

For all of us that have had our lifetime limit of animal products the plant based craze is moving to hospitals in Texas.

Small world. I'm supposed to have lunch with him next week. Good guy.

I've tried breaker bar, breaker bar with cheater pipe, air impact, and electric impact. Next is the 5lb sledge hammer on wrench, if that doesn't work, then 5lb sledge on breaker. If all those don't work, I will roll it over and sharpen in place for this year.

And not to worry, the box of Blue Bell, not to be confused with Blue Bunny, ice cream sandwiches that somehow found their way into my freezer last week
have simply disappeared. They must have self vaporized. I'll have to check the freezer fan level , might be running a bit high,
accelerating that vaporizing. Funny things the wrappers are gone too. I do know the helper had at least two out of the box.
Without evidence, who knows where the other four went.

And I was being so good avoiding the half gallons...but gosh it's eight gazillion degrees out and a cold ice cream is just marvelous. Even the artificial plastic imitation milk product cones you get at McDonalds drive thru for a buck are good if the day is hot enough.

Good afternoon all. 80F this morning, clear and calm. Forecast is for 101F, my thermometer says 98F, clear with moderate winds. Got bike ride done, lunch and a nap. Need to work on billing, 2 months behind :(.

I had to heat the blades/bolts with my Mapp gas torch to break them loose. Good luck.

What is the max torque on your air impact. It took me forever to replace the blades, on my LS 84" rear finish mower, last week. Bolts are M18 fine thread and my 350 ft.-lb. Kobalt took forever to get bolts out.

I bought the Harbor Freight 700 ft.-lb. air impact Tuesday so, will be ready for next time. They have it on sale for $99.99 but, they have a coupon to buy it for $77.77 now. It seems to be one of HF's gems.

I'll find the coupon # if your interested?

Are you an Iowa Hawkeye?

Take my mower blades off with battery impact. Make sure they aren't reverse treads, some are.

I still have some 3/4" air impacts if anyone is interested. You will have to set up a minimum of 1/2" ID airline for them to have full power.

Just wait until you have to remove a bush hog shredder blade.

Good Evening. 2050, clear, 76F with 93% humidity. Today's high was 90F with a forecast low of 71F with 20% chance of rain tonight. We got a good rain last night. It's rained here in Blountstown today, but not much more than a sprinkle at the house. I have a lockout for a wedding tonight, so killing time watching Tour de France. F1 practice will repeat here in a little while. Also looking forward to Sunday, when I will be watching my first NASCAR race of the year. Jeffy is coming out of retirement to drive for Jr. He didn't look great in practice, but it's like riding a bike, right?

Edward Thatch's mostly bloodless reign as a Privater came to a bloody end when lost his head over that way. Some folks say when the full moon is shining across the Sound, you can see him swimming around looking for it.

The ice cream is about the only thing at McDonald's that I would eat.

We knew old Blackbeard as Edward Teach, locally, growing up in that area.
