thanks, after 19 years its still a job in progress. Haha.

My biggest mistake was not insulating it the day i built it. I now have it 1/2 way insulated. Was going to finish it this winter but i ended up working all winter doing generators and had no time to finish it. Now its full of generators and i still cant work on it.

Delivery day and trail run. Plan A, buy a transfer pump>done, so far so good. Plan B, buy 30 gal. barrel>done, so far so good. Plan C, buy hand dolly>done, so far so good. Plan D, make unload ramp>done, so far so good. Plan E, forgot about plan E, didn't think of plan E, now plan E is a work in progress, and that is try to figure out a way to keep 1" intake hose in barrel that has a 2-1/4" ish threaded hole, so it is water tight and easy to remove for refilling barrel, so far it has went to plan F.

The fuel pumping was easy, but I haven't attached the filter yet That will be next week. Greasing the zeeks on the excavator was a different story. That's a lot of pumping. By the time I finished, my pecs were on fire. And there always seems to be another one. I'm going thru the manual to make sure I got them all.

You have to get a Dewalt batt. grease gun, just place the hose and pull the trigger, it is so much easier.

I have been reading through this and given the answers I got on my endeavor in my other threads, I need to ask another question. I can mount my Fill-Rite RD 8 vertically on my barrel, but saw someone turned a 90 from the top and had the pump on a board on top of the barrel. Looking at the plastic barrel and the reducer bung, the weak link is actually the top of the barrel around the fitting. I got thinking of the stress of the filler hose leveraging the pump mounted vertically as shown here http://www.fillrite.com/ProductCatalog/4089.pdf , (photo, bottom right hand corner mounted to barrel of the pdf) . I am thinking now of using 316 SS 3/4 fittings (stainless steel) and turn a 90 out of the bung, use a cam lock set of fittings into the pump (for quick disconnect), and mount the pump to a board that fit the elevation of the 90 and will rest on the tank top. Then the only leverage is a turning motion the fitting will take and give if necessary. The cam lock fitting also will give a bit too. I am thinking of using SS fittings to prevent any rust over time and they are stronger than brass or aluminum, at least I think they are.

Am I overthinking this? Thoughts?

Bottom line this whole set up can be moved to a larger tank later if needed.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking, cause I don't my pump mounted on my barrel, I want it separate.

I'm positive I mentioned/cautioned you about Plan E back in post #30... hang on, I'll check...

Whoops, sorry Mate. :sorry: I got side-tracked by the Mudd's Women question.

So, ah, watch out for when Plan E comes along, OK?

I just got one of those things. Its works great. There are so many zerks on a tractor with a FEL and backhoe they all want to be greased often, too often. A dozen on the FEL alone, about 10 on the just the front axle, then another dozen or so on the backhoe and a few more here and there. Oh well I can always use it on the truck too. I'm gonna go broke buying grease. It's like trying to keep a kid in shoes.

I'm trying to think of ten grease fittings on a front end axle of a tractor, lug nuts don't count. I have two on the axle pivot, but don't hit that has much as the loader zerks.
