Hi everyone! By way of informal intro, my name is Craig but everyone calls me Oggy (except my wife, Dragon Lady jk). 62 yo and a retired Fire Captain from Long Beach, CA. Now living the American Dream in the Mojave Desert, I call the Big Empty. No people to speak of, at least not jammed up as it is 60 miles from here, in LA. in the Army (ours, natch) as a helicopter pilot, CW2, in our efforts in Southeast Asia. Specifically the peninsula referenced then and still as Indo-China. Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Oz. What I call the Youth in Asia Tour of '70 -'71. Had as much fun as anyonme can have without laughing. Had a hgearet transpalnt in '04 (doing quite well thank you) and have had occasional difficulties with some varieties of cancer and other minor stuff but remain standing, and intend on continuing in that position at least for a while yet.
I have owned a few tractors and currently am helping a friend convert an older 8N from 6 to 12 volts. It's going disturbingly easy for the moment, but I am waiting for that other shoe to hit the floor anytime now. Plan for the worst, hope for the best and never get disappointed (too much anyway). I avoid political discussion mostly because it's pointless. Those I would take oppositionm to typically are well underinformed and typically rely on personal attack, entertaining no idea they might be so wrong there are no words or enough time on the clock to explain to them anything at all about how truly wrong they are, and will continue to be forever.
Currently I am workoing to R&R a Pakmaster 50 Plasma machine (Thermal Dynamics) that was given to me a few years back and I now getting to it. (Whew!) i am also doing this with a 1960 Lincoln SAE 300 Continental welding generator, also a gift from a different friend. I have used this machine a few years ago and it works fine so I am now looking for leads and some other detail stuff, while I fabricate a trailer to haul it's heaviness around. Or at least move it around on my property, so I can get it out of the way while I pursue the fool's dream of being completely and thouroughly "machined".
