John Deere 2520
It finally came! Only downfall is that they brought it at about 1:30 and it's 104 degrees in the shade. I made one round mowing with it. Gonna have to wait till morning. It's gonna take some getting used to. Seems like a much bigger tractor than the 855, but the 72 mmm compared to the 60 is probably part of it. I love how the hood tilts open and you can get all around the engine. No more front/side shields to take off. I can get all the way around the radiator with my air nozzle too. Plus, I forgot to tell the dealer to move my wheels, they already put them in the wide position so I don't have to worry about that. I'll get pics up tomorrow, it's just too dang hot now. I made that one round mowing and it's covered in dust already. I'll put a couple hours on it in the morning till it gets hot out. I wonder what I'll hit first with the taller rops? Folded down I think they'd be as tall as the 855's were. Gonna have to trim a few trees. Seems like it turns as short as the 855 did, if not I have less of an uncut circle with the bigger deck anyways.

Congratulations. Here's wishing you many hours of enjoyable and productive Seat Time. Once the summer heat declines, you will have more opportunity. Best wishes.

roush9799 congrats on your new tractor. While it's fresh in your mind check the clearance of the fuel tank cover and the hood opening.

I opened it and it cleared, it's centered right in the middle of the opening. I didn't look real close but I'll look tomorrow to see if you could move yours to work right.

I have a gripe about this tractor. Whoever designed the throttle linkage has never been around a 4020. Why does up speed the engine up and down slow it down? Guess I'll eventually get used to it. Then I'll get on one of the 4020's and it'll be backwards to me.

I read quite a few threads / comments about the tanks sagging over time and needing to remove the fuel cap to open / close the hood. I asked my dealer about it and he claims he never heard of it. Well, here I am at 35 hours on the tractor, just about a year old, and guess what? My fuel cap rubs against the inside of the opening in the hood now. Ask your dealer about it now... Get them to reach out to the area rep about it now... get it documented that you're asking about it.

Otherwise, you'll dial that thing in pretty quickly.

For mowing, I *never* put my ROPS up (I have a completely level lot). I'm 6' tall, so I walk my property a couple of times a year with lopping shears and clip anything that isn't over my head. Makes mowing very easy.

Gonna take some getting used too. Mowing this morning and got it hung up crossing a shallow ditch that I always crossed with the 855. I think I coulda backed out in 4wd if it wasn't so dang dry. The tires just spun on top of the dusty ground. I guess the extra 6 inches on each side is enough to hang me. I don't think the deck raises quite as high either. I'll have to change my mowing pattern a bit, but I'll get used to it in time. That 72MMM is a grass eating monster compared to my old 60". I took it out in some taller grass that I've only mowed with the tractor and shredder. The 60 woulda plugged the outlet, where this 72 seems to run about half full since it's much deeper at the outlet.

Also, what is the cluster of wires for behind the seat? Looks like you could plug something in to some of them if you wanted too.
