Eco Boost vs V8

Sequoia is an overpriced piece of crap in my opinion, I work on a few for a living. Frames rot out and the rear window mechanism in the tailgate rusts through and falls off leaving the rear wiper and window in a non-operating condition. You live is Michigan and don't have the same issue? Hard to believe because every one we work on over 6 years old has this problem.

I believe Toyota trucks are overpriced, overrated and generally a poor value in salt country. When is the last time you saw GM or Ford truck need a new frame? Now the Prius is a whole better animal.

Fred, entitled to my opinion.

Lol. Nice opinion. Actually, I got the recall letter from Toyota. Did you know that if the frame rust is bad on the Tundra out Sequoia, they will replace it? That includes all mounts & everything! Luckily mine wasn't bad, and I use FluidFilm undercoat and that keeps things in shape. I also keep my tailgate internals lubed every year, maybe that's why they stay clean and working.

I'm not sure how they are "over priced" ... pricing seemed to be in line and comparable to other new trucks when I was shopping. They don't offer crazy incentives like the others though...

Now granted, they do sell higher USED because they typically retain their value so much better. Is that what you're speaking of?

We all have our own opinions of course. I've owned lots of vehicles, my family too. All I can say is that, FACTUALLY, while I like my current Ford (and liked all my past domestics), the overall quality and low cost of ownership has been night & day compared to my domestics.

The dealer techs here are very good at doing the frames. They bank many hours flat rate because Toyota was very generous about the time units allowed (I forget the number). I have at least 10 customers who have newly found Tacomas (frame changers).

You are right about the resale value and I wish I knew why a 10 year old Toyota still retains a high resale when guys like me are afraid to place these vehicles on the hoist :( because of the frame problem. Late model Toyota parts are becoming VERY expensive (except for OEM filters that stay cheap).

There's a stigma with Toyotas (and Subarus) in this part of the country. I work on both but don't like either. Toyota owners are die hards.

Not to jack, back to the battle at hand! Fred

I'm making a road trip today in my ecoboost. I will post my mileage numbers. It is the first trip I've had in awhile and it'll be interesting to see how it does on the highway with this winter gas. I'm going to be driving from Evansville Indiana to Columbus Indiana which is about a three hour trip each direction.

1 hour on the interstate with the cruise control set at exactly 75 miles per hour. I was on a slight uphill section of the road. Normally the boost would be about the same place but below the zero. I have a super crew 2 wheel drive with the max tow package which includes a 3.73 rear end.

Depends on what you will use it for. I have lots of friends that have both the Eco Boost and the 5.0L. By all accounts, the 5.0L gets better every day mileage while the Eco Boost town and hauls better with similar mileage. Remember that no matter the engine, it takes fuel to make power, so when using power, you use fuel. But, neither gets any better highway mileage at 75mpg than my '13 Ram Laramie Longhorn 4x4 with the 6spd tyranny & air suspension (which is really, really sweet!) which is about 16-16.5mpg.

Thanks for posting

Sorry to say but Really not impressed!

You consumed 12.56Litres/100km (converted to metric)

My 2006 4.8l 4x4 sierra extended cab eats 2.44litres more than your new 2wd truck and that's with 31" procomp A/T 4 speed auto and 224000km.

Not worth it!

It also has 100 less HP and 150 FT less TO and struggles to tow 6000#.

His truck makes 365 HP and 420 FT TQ and has tires as large or bigger stock. Oh yea, it can tow 11,000# plus with ease.
