Eco Boost vs V8

Not a huge fan of the 6.0. It's a solid motor but does lack MPG's. I like the 6.2L much better. You are the only person I know that praises the Titian so much. You've had it quite a while so it must serve your needs well. Funny thing is when I go to the monthly sales meetings, the Nissan Titan is NEVER mentioned. It's not even a threat to GM truck sales. I don't know anybody that owns one to tell the truth. I'm not bashing. The #'s speak for themselves. Ford (as always) is GM's biggest competitor in the truck segment. Toyota and Ram are brought up also. GM has used BUMPER steps for many years on the Avalanche. Bled into the trucks this year. Ford uses a pull out BAR off the lift gate. That requires a free hand to pull out. The GM's bumper step does not. We can all talk HP, torque, and tow ratings all day long. The bottom line is we buy what we like and looks play a big part in the buying decisions we make. If taking the "safe approach" means sticking to internal cam V-8's vs OHC's and turbos on their trucks, I'm fine with that. I don't believe GM set back and watched what the competition did when building the C-5, C-6, and the new C-7 Corvette. It has acquired "super car" status and has stood alone for decades as the "All American sports car".

I do like the GM bumper step, it's smart. It is better than Fords solution.

To date my 08 Titan has 89,000 miles. 1 repair, a light bulb at $3. It's been a fine vehicle that gets horrible mpg. 14 is what it does but 9700# on the back it gets 9. It's a power house. My best tank was 16.4 mpg. I pulled 2 cars and a plow truck out yesterday. I used it, not my diesel F350. Factory Detroit Lockers and 4 low make it untouchable. Take a hard look at them on a dealers lot some day then remember it's unchanged since 2004. Back then till about 2010 it was the class leader. Factory Detroit Lockers, factory sprayed in bed liner, factory navigation and backup camera, factory bed tie down system that was movable. Remember, 2004 on it has these systems.

As for sales numbers Nissan can only build 2000 a month, 24,000 a year. I don't know why but this is unchanged since 2004 so they never will be a competitor, just a great secret.

Comparing a Corvette and GM trucks is not fair. The team at Corvette and the team at GM trucks have totally different business practices. Corvette, world class. GM trucks, safe and so so.

I am not a 6.0 lover. It's just a good match in the GM trucks and has proven reliable with good power for what it is. Just a little thirsty.

Nissan puts them on the Titan Factory.

Must be an option, we have a loaded 2004 Titan extended cab 4x4 at work with only 60,000 miles and i just went out and looked at it and be damned if I can find a bed step, just those stupid running boards I don't like. They been trying to trade it for a new Tundra but no luck yet.

Yes, option.

Mine is actually off. I keep getting mud and snow stuck all over it.

Best 1/2 ton truck built from 04 till the Eco Boost.

About to be the best again late summer with the 5.0L Cummins

Chris

Yes, everyone has their opinion, and you sure have yours.
I just read Nissan will be selling with the Datsun name again in some countries.
I also just read the 2014 Titan is ranked #10 in full size pickup trucks. There's a reason for that.

That doesn't make much sense ... there are only six 1/2-ton trucks on the market.

Besides, like anything else, this might be a situation where you need to own one before you understand it's true value.

I drove only domestics, mainly Ford (Ford family) for years until I started buying and driving Toyota & Honda. The ownership experience of owning Toyota trucks vs the domestics I've owned are not even comparable. If not for my current need of a heavier duty truck, if still be in a Tundra. Shoot, my 04 Sequoia still runs like new with 138k miles. I've replaced the brakes, power antenna, battery, and an ABS sensor (wire chewed by an animal, not a faulty part) and that's it.

My hot rod Prius (yeah, I said Prius) might finally need it's first set of brake pads at 115,000 miles. It has not needed a single other thing expect 1 headlight bulb, and 1 tail light bulb.

I'm not sure if owning a Nissan is as easy as Toyota, but once you experience it, you'll have a hard time shopping Domestic "branded" vehicles again, especially if you've owned and dealt with domestics in the past.

Sequoia is an overpriced piece of crap in my opinion, I work on a few for a living. Frames rot out and the rear window mechanism in the tailgate rusts through and falls off leaving the rear wiper and window in a non-operating condition. You live is Michigan and don't have the same issue? Hard to believe because every one we work on over 6 years old has this problem.

I believe Toyota trucks are overpriced, overrated and generally a poor value in salt country. When is the last time you saw GM or Ford truck need a new frame? Now the Prius is a whole better animal.

Fred, entitled to my opinion.
