I usually try to leave black snakes alone, but if he is in your chicken shack AND he is at head height, all bets are off!

Yup. Stay outta my coop and live I always say...
He was on the ground leaving the duck nesting spot when I saw him, and went up the 2x4 FAST... I got him at between 3-4 feet up, that was far enough for me!
I only kill the black snakes in the coop, or like on the porch where my 5 year old daughter might be playing...

Killed this Black snake with a shovel inside my chicken shack as he CLIMBED STRAIGHT UP the 2x4 wall stud trying to either get away or attack me...
The rake is close enough to 6' we will not split any hairs over it...
I guess I should have known they can climb straight up a 2x4... but it creeped me out a bit in all honesty.
