That's nothing, on Prince Edward Island in Canada all the Liquor stores were shut down last week. I see today as of today one store has been re-opened with reduced hours. On a positive note though, verbal and physical beatings for those who deserved it have gone up considerably this past week.

I saw 18 college age guys playing basketball at a park yesterday afternoon. First thing I noticed was the full contact body foul, knocked down a guy, then the other guy offered his hand and picked him up. Then there were high 5's all around.

On the way home I noticed lots of people playing basketball at a few other parks and rec centers as well.

We're doomed!

An awful lot of people weren't aware of how the virus became so quickly entrenched in Italy. (folks returning from holiday) Many also aren't mindful that the US has States and populations/densities in them similar to a great many other countries. That makes raw case numbers seem less relevant to guessing* what will happen in a fruit bowl the size of a #7 wash tub. * (still all we can do)

Also scheduled flights from Wuhan with the fashion industry having significant Chinese community.

People know exactly what they are doing when they make a political post in a forum where it is not allowed. If a miscreant makes such a post, suppress your desire to respond, simply report it. I'd also suggest putting the miscreant on your ignore list.

Plus China did extensive testing, traced contacts of infected cases, and enforced quarantine on contacts. Really enforced! One report said there were doors welded shut to keep people in. I don't know if that meant an infected person's apartment, or the gate into an apartment complex. That's impossible to consider here or in Europe.

I just read Starbucks has closed. I was always too cheap to buy coffee there, but there are a gazillion people who would be completely out of kilter if they
didn't get their mocha latte in the morning. Maybe a double whammy now, no job and no latte...

My older sister (79) and husband (85) are one of these, every morning they always went to Starbucks for coffee . . . not now!

If they had more data to report as to the exact cause of her death I presume they would have done so.

In the meantime, probably not a bad idea to inform folks of what they do know for certain ... so they can judge for themselves and adjust their behavior accordingly ... or not ...

Well NY is over 30,000 cases now.
We actually have a couple in the rural county that I live in now.
One of those is a city person with a summer home up here,
they came up here and brought it with them, nice of them, not.
The local hospital were my wife works has a confirmed case and a nurse has tested positive.

I really have to wonder what our elected state officials are thinking they are asking retired
medical personal to return to the field, most of them are in the group most at risk if they
contract it and they are asking them to work with infected individuals.

Most of these retired medical personal are dedicated and very deserving of praise. And if the authorities do it right many will be placed in supportive roles rather than front line.

They are about a month from opening the first one in Murray KY. It doesn't seem to have a drive thru window.
