THIS is a prime example of a news article creating hysteria IMO.

The reality is, NO WHERE in the article posted does it state what this woman died of, only that she tested for the virus and died before getting the results.

Is there a chance she could of gotten it? Yes. Is there a chance that she could of NOT had it? Yes. Is there a chance that this woman had another condition that increased the odds that she was at a higher risk for whatever reason that "accelerated" her death? Yes. The reality is though that none of this was addressed in the article.

Do I belive this virus is a issue? Heck yes.

While all the points you make (in your original post, quoted above) are accurate, the only hysteria I'm seeing is your reaction to the article being posted ...

If they had more data to report as to the exact cause of her death I presume they would have done so.

In the meantime, probably not a bad idea to inform folks of what they do know for certain ... so they can judge for themselves and adjust their behavior accordingly ... or not ...

Writing was never my forte, I was using the phrase "The reality..." way too much LOL

I see the article you posted no different than when I read a gun death article or a dog attack article. The story is generally put out there for shock value with very little facts, and in some cases, mis representing the facts that are given. No hysteria on my end, just addressing the lack of facts presented by the article which seems that no one ever questions until the government decides it's going to pass laws addressing the "situation".

The media generally, by it's very nature, is sensationalistic ... folks just have to factor that in, in their evaluation of what they read.

Barring some further distraction - like some huge event that sucks up their attention - I would expect that there will be some follow-up reporting on the case.

Indeed, the story has already been updated (at least) once that I can see.

took my shower this morning, shaved and realized I really needed a haircut.
Well that isn't going to happen anytime soon, don't think a barbershop is a particularly safe place to be right now.
Better go find my little clippers. Ear lobes, hide!

Worried about my sister in California, just North of SF, luckily fairly remote in Muir Beach.
She was amazed that the beach yesterday had all kinds of people on it
and the parking lot was almost full. ?? While their hospitals are running out of face masks...

Indeed, the story has already been updated (at least) once that I can see.

What new information and what was updated?

Some interesting things to note per the story

1 - No once was an actual temperature given.
2 - She drank "medicinal wiskey" to help the symtons (another news story).
3 - She was feeling better enough to take a walk for her boyfriend and dog Thursday.
4 - Her boyfriend came home at night at night finding her after not responding to his texts.
5 - She was found on the kitchen floor dead (enough strength to be walking in the home but not enough strength to text or call for help?).

As noted, there is a chance that this virus did indeed claim her life. At this point, given the information, the fact is we don't know exactly what killed this woman.

Point being, if someone is running a high fever, but feeling better in two days, goes out for a walk and get's hit and killed by a car hitting them, do we assume the virus killed them? Of course not.

Think about this...People are so smart that because of this virus, people are hoarding toilet paper. Tells you enough about the general population IMO to consider the fact that our medical system can be overwhelmed VERY quickly due to stupidity. I'm not saying the woman who died was stupid, only pointing out that until we know what she died of, putting this story out really dosen't help anyone.

I dismissed this article as another slanted writing as soon as I found myself re-reading to be sure I read it right, that, she has a partner ( stated twice ) , yet he has a girlfriend......

What new information and what was updated?

No idea ... since I did not read the two versions ... I only noted that the article itself notes that it has been updated at a specific time after the original publication.

i wanted to get out yesterday and stretch my legs so I went for a walk around the block. It was a nice afternoon so a lot of (10-15) other people had the same idea. Most people were keeping a good distance except one neighbor who wanted to come over and talk. I felt kind of bad waving her off. I was wondering if you could get it walking through another persons breath plume? I have read that you may be most contagious a few days before you show symptoms. So if you are not coughing and sneezing how do you spread it? I was wondering why some places have banned going out at all?

Be thankful she's not in Florida ... where some seem intent to be manufacturing the next batch of "super spreaders" for our collective benefit ...

I'm wondering if this lasts months if I will have to resort to an amish haircut where my wife puts a bowl over my head and snips off everything that hangs out.not the ears
