I don't think a true dial up internet connection would work for much except text these days. The images are just too large, not to mention all the software that comes down with the more dynamic pages.Question: I like to include photos. But I realize this slows download for anyone still on dialup.
Are there many people today bothered by photos in a thread? (I edit my own photos to under 250k but linked photos may be larger).
The satellite internet services I've had have all had problems with both speed and data caps. I size my uploaded images to be 12" wide at 96 dpi, and they look pretty good. That comes out to about 70 kb for a jpg image. The default size of images from the iPhone camera makes a file somewhere around 5Mb in size, and haven't figured out yet how to whittle them down. They take a long time to come back down, and even longer to upload.
