I'm struggling with controling email notification on Watched Threads. (Firefox and Ubuntu, uptodate).

I've found a control to UnEmail every thread, but can't seem to selectively control turning on Email notification like ur TBN had.

Is this fix on the list already, or is 3930D just blind to the new controls.....

Go into the thread itself. Upper right corner, click the 'Watch" icon. A dialog box appears and you can select to watch it with or without email notifications.

The PM button is hidden behind a red square dot that shows the number of PMs stored.
(OK, mea culpa, I should have erased my old PM's)

On old system I'd get a notification to my google inbox when a new TBN PM was posted.
Will this still be a feature?

I believe that there's a setting in your home page.

The red dot goes away. You can mark PMs read and the dot goes away.

Click on "selected" and a bar appears at the bottom which will let you select all and then mark all as read.

On my already subscribed threads I can UnWatch them, then Watch, to get the dialog box you describe. Once selected, then "Email" appears beside that thread in my Watch list. I'll know soon enough, but I'm now wondering about the Check Box that is sitting beside "Email" - do I need to now Check that too, or is that Box related to something else ?

I discovered a new feature! A photo in a post can be scaled down. While composing a draft, click in the photo then drag a corner to make it smaller.

After its posted, click in the photo to see it full size.

But I tried putting a second photo in that post and scaled that second one down to about 20%. This made the post fail to load, something about 'protocol violation' in place of the post. Strange.

Does this load correctly for others, after I took out the second photo?

Auto-lock threads after X days/weeks to prevent spammers from bumping 20 years old threads like this: Preparing site for concrete pad???


Ideally, only established members (over X days or # of posts) could bump older threads.

I vote no on locking old threads, they still have good information. Just delete the spammer.

An old thread is why I am here now.

x2 on the ability to edit. I have never understood the reasoning behind that prohibition. I am a member of several forums that allow indefinite editing and it IS useful sometimes as information can change or become irrelevant.

I have also noticed this format will take away the spell check underline as you are typing. Same thing happens at the new GTT forum and they have never fixed it. You can right click and uncheck the spell check then right click and recheck it and it will come back but that takes time and is an annoyance for those of us that are mostly thumbs.

I disagree with wanting to edit old posts. If you need to update information in an old post, just quote yourself and add the disclaimer in your reply that you are updating the information and give a reason why.
