Actually thanks for the offer but I just found some bar stock that my Brother-in-law is going to turn down for me.

Thanks again for the offer, Chris

The pins on my BH77 are heat treated, hardened steel. I would not relish the thought of trying to machine them down on the lathe without annealing them first. Typical bar stock mild steel, or even AISI 4130 alloy steel which contains chromium and molybdenum, no problem . . . but I'm not sure even 4130 would hold up as well as the stuff they use for backhoe pins.

Yeah..the reason Case and Kubota wanted $50-60 each for their pins is because they are good heat-treated metal. The pins that come from DR are only $12.00 each and you can tell they are nothing special metal-wise. I figure the lesser grade will be fine for as little as I plan to use the ripper compared to the bucket.

I checked on the longer Kubota pins and they were like $45 or 50 each. I was trying to get by on the cheap, but having no luck yet.

Ryan

By chance do you know the pin part number or which backhoe the pin is supposed to go on? For $50/pin and a substantially less cost ripper it's still a lot less expensive than the Bro-Tek model.

75596-42610 are the pins I was looking at using. These are viewable on the Messick's parts diagram of the BT601 as part 050.

Hope this helps
