The blade looks great, welds too. What kind of steel are you going to use for cutting edge? Hardox or simmilar...?

For now I was planning on just putting a piece of HRS (hot rolled steel). Its cheap and will last a while. In the future I was thinking of putting a nylon edge since I plow over a little bit of interlock. This way it would not scratch the interlock.

That's a really neat project. Its got me thinking of doing it to my rear blade that's just sitting in the back yard.

There are some ideas that I will use when I build my front blade.

It takes a lot of patience and attention to detail to reach this type of quality of workmanship. Very, very few people have that talent.

I know as a builder you only see the imperfections in your work. But for us common cobblers, all we see is the attention to detail.

You should be very proud of your work. I'm curious to see what you design for the shoes.

Hopefully I pick up the material for the shoes this weekend and will machine it next week at work.

Its just not fair. Some of you guys get the talent to build stuff like this but most of us don't. Great job. I want to do something similar for my 1026r. The Deere 54" blade is just too narrow. I as thinking of a 66" would give me more ability to move the snow to the edge of my driveway.

I've bookmarked this post as I plan on "borrowing" the hard work done by the original poster here. Again, great job and I look forward to some pictures of the blade in action.

I widened my 54" blade to 60". But after seeing nyen0004's pics, there's no way I'm posting mine.

Here are a few pics of the blade mounted.

You can see in the second picture how much it clears the wheel width. When blade is angled it is just wider then the wheels so I never drive over the snow.

We got around 9 inches of snow last night, and it is really heavy, sticky and wet so it will be a good first test for the blade. Here are a few pictures of it in action.

Looks good!

Could you have gone wider? Looks like it is just clearing the width of the tires when angled.

The blade looks great! Did you have it powder coated or painted? Same with your first one? I have not had much luck with powder coating holding up very well but looks good when it is fresh. With that wet deep snow would the tractor track straight when the plow was angled?
