There was a regulatory fee of $15 added to the bill. I'm assuming that was the core charge. I think there was something on their website about getting that $15 back if I bring in the old battery.

I'll have to look into that and decide if I want to haul it to the store, or not. I hate the idea of bringing it there, but I don't have a better way to get rid of the battery.

@EddieWalker, you might want to give it a charge since you're not installing right away. I always give the authority good 2 - 4 amp charge o er 24 hrs before installation.
I'm glad the process was "painless".

Good idea. I think I'll hook my lawn mower trickle charger up to it. I haven't bought a new trickle charger for the tractor yet. I'm kind of hoping for an After Christmas sale since I'm not in a huge rush to get one.

I had to replace the tractor battery. That interstate battery only lasted a year. I went with napa east penn agm battery and installed a Noco genius 1 charger. Permanent battery hookup with connector end sticking out the hood. Easy to unplug when using tractor without opening hood

I have had very good luck with Walmart Everstart batteries. I always buy the highest CCA rating that I can physically fit in the battery box on my tractor, Riding mower and my highway vehicles. It maybe a few dollars more, but they tend to last longer. In the old days the Sears Diehard batteries were good, but do not seem to be as good as the Walmart top end batteries. Getting 13+ years on my John Deer 770 with a regular battery didn't make any sense going for the glass mat at nearly twice the expense.

East Penn, Deka batteries are fine just use 850 CCA for your Massey and you’ll do fine. Put copper never size on the terminals before recooking up the cables, plus use a trickle charger during winter.
