I think I have been put on time out here a time or two. In hindsight .. maybe it was the right thing to do. There were a couple others who I haven't seen here in a while that I did not care for and did my absolute best to make it known. But the truth is that they were just internet trolls and in no way can affect my life outside this forum. ..In other words, they were absolute zeroes to me and not worth engaging with. Banned now..? I have no idea.

I was going to ask him, but I knew he would just make fun of me because he just always makes fun of me

Pure brutality and physical toughness combined with speed and power.
I played after football was over for me and although I suffered a few concussions, fell in love with it.

Me, too. I was young skinny and fast back then.

A rugby prop could be compared to a football Tackle, at least in body size.

Props:

No place to play American football after HS or college, so rugby is a great way to continue.
I also played lacrosse into my late 20’s.

When I was 22 I played in a tournament in Iowa. There was a guy on another team that was a 46 year old state senator from Minnesota. I thought he was old at the time. Now I know he was just crazy.

I coached HS rugby in Wisconsin. Trained by USA Rugby. I could see doing that again. One of the kids played on the U-19 National team. He got to go to Dubai.

The best thing about club rugby is both teams typically get together for a meal, or at least some drinks as the host team literally hosts the visitors. Beat the crap out of each other on the pitch and then swap stories and drink beer after. I miss those days.

I miss it too. Too many concussions. Don’t need any more.

My kid training for this season.

You must have kept tackling like a FB player. We had some senior FB players who would join the team in the Spring. Great athletes but forgot about no helmet when they put their heads in front of running knees. I've seen some bad injuries, but most would have happened with or without pads.

Had my first introduction/practice on a Thursday and played a whole match on Saturday (at wing). Exhausted, but hooked (no pun intended)

No, mine came from collegiate boxing, American football and lacrosse. None from Rugby.
I coached LB’s in HS football and we taught Rugby tackling exclusively.

When I played football, the coaches used to tell us to lower your head and run through the line of scrimmage with the ball (running a ”dive”).
If you had a lead blocker (fullback) they would block with a helmet, like a battering ram the first opposite color they saw.

Today that coaching would have you dismissed from the team.

Dad started in football but switched to heavyweight boxing...

In an interview he was asked about it and Dad said in boxing when someone hits you, you get to hit them back!

Dad encouraged competitive swimming... for high school and college... said contact sports can cripple for life.

Reading all this concussion and hitting people stuff, I’m kind of glad my sport was tennis in high school and college.

Hard on the knees and legs, but no blood!
If I could have done it over again, I would have listened to my dad and played golf!

I played 2 years in college but in the lower division. I was 2nd row. Had to wear a scrum cap to keep from getting scabs by my ears.

The member we've been discussing was either banned or went away the same day this thread started and the day after the GW thread was closed. 🤔

on edit: Now I'm seeing activity Sunday and today so someone's changed it.
