New user here.....in the market for a CUT (30hp or so) for use on my 5 acre parcel. Will use it a lot preliminarily for mowing but have grand plans for an orchard and vineyard some day. (who knows when!)

Have been checking the local area and have found B7800's with a Kubota FEL and 5' rear mower deck at no less than about $18,500 new.

Just talked to another dealer and he has a new B7800 that was just returned with 59 hrs on it. The first owner was 6'8" tall and could not fit in it well.

It has a MMM and I am wondering what the pros and cons are here (vs a mower attached to the 3PT). Are MMM's hard to remove and put back on? (should I need to) Are there brackets that remain that reduce the clearance of the 7800? How much?

They are asking $15,850 for it(also has Kubota FEL and all new product warranties). I find this very enticing.

A B7800 with 72" MMM and 420 FEL would run at least $17000 plus tax around here. If I was buying a tractor and came across a deal like that it would be my tractor. You may want to make sure the 50 hours service has been completed. If it has not been done as the dealer to include it.
I have a B2910 (same tractor more features) with 72"MMM it is a great mowing machine and does a lot of other projects. I can mow my 2 acre lawn in less than 1 hour.

That's a good price on the used B7800 w/mmm and 402 FEL. The remainder of the warranty is transferable to the new owner, so it's like a new tractor. I agree with Ron, get the dealer to do the 50 hr maintence as part of the deal and grab it if in good shape.

Sounds like a pretty good savings... You figure if the dealer is asking 15800, and they have to be making at least 1000-1500 on that tractor , the poor guy who traded it in must have lost around 3500 dollars... Oh well, his loss is your gain...

Sounds like a decent deal. The mid-mount mower is a bit more difficult to take on and off but it isn't that big of a deal. The B7800 linkage does hang down a little, but you can raise it up and lock it entirely out of the way. (The instructions are in the manual on how to do this). One thing for sure is that you don't want to do any loader work or anything else where clearance is an issue. It could do considerable damage to an expensive mowing deck as well as hanging you up. I have used both RFM and MMM decks and I prefer the RFM, but not strongly so. Others prefer the MMM and I suspect a lot of it has to do with your application. I would not dwell on it much as far as purchasing this unit. Good luck!

Piece of cake - takes me 5 - 7 minutes to remove or install the 72" MMM on my B2910. Taking the FEL on or off is another 5 minutes or so. And it seems like it keeps getting faster each time I do it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Like was said, the linkage (and or the MMM deck itself) can be pinned up in the top position, out of the way. You can get away with doing a limited amount of FEL work with the MMM on, on fairly level terrain.

I don't know about other MMM's. But the 72" MMM for the B27-2910 & B7800 tractors is one of the easiest mowers to remove. There is one requirement. There must be a hard flat area large enough to move mower out from under tractor. It is then as easy to install and remove as the easiest 3PH attachment. This mower weighs about 500 lbs.

I would not hesitate on the B7800 with MMM. I am a fairly new owner of a B2910 with 72" MMM and 402 loader and it has cut my mowing time in half compared to my Mitsubishi gear drive with 60" mower. It has also been a joy to use to finish up a great many tasks around the property. I have alot of smaller trees to mow around and the MMM allows me to mow around each of them alot closer than I think a RFM would. I think it is what you are used to, but for me the MMM is much easier to use and more efficient when mowing up close to things. One comment on the RFM is the ease of backing up to areas with the RFM which cannot be done with the MMM.

The one negative comment I have with any compact is the ROPS when mowing around smaller trees. It gets kinda annoying to moving branches away from the ROPS when you are mowing close to trees. At least with the B2910 you can lower the ROPS when mowing. Not sure if the B7800 has that option? A foldable ROPS would be one thing to consider when purchasing. Maybe you could get a replacement at a good price if not.
