Kubota B2710
Hello. Old member here again looking for my next Kubota. Was active around 2000, but none of my old posts seem to be around anymore. Good to see some familiar faces, Bird among them....great guy and full of top notch info.!

So, I own 1/2 of my 2000 B2710 W/ FEL and 72"MMM (800 trouble free hours). Just cant get the other half...long story. Looking for the current equivalent, or as close as $20k will get me. Will have 7A with 400' gravel drive and mow 3-4A, woods and trails to clean up. 3 pt wood splitter would be nice, but not sure on flow capabilities of S/CUT.

Some observations and lots of questions in 2022:
1) Prices are nutz. Guessing I could come close to selling my 2710 for what I paid. Used is attractive. But need to buy soon.
2) Emissions: Read a lot, don't want anything to do with DEF, Regen, etc.. Don't want electronic engine controls or new fuel injection methods; just tried and true old 3 or 4 cylinder. Are there still old tech engines in the newer models? Seems like under 25hp are traditional?
3) Log Splitter: Looks like stand alone require around 11 gpm. Most B have around 8 gpm from what I can tell. I know lower flow equals slower cycle time, but can get it done; correct? What's a reasonable minimum flow to not hate myself for buying into the 'it will just take longer' sales pitch? Probably will do 10 full cords a year, max. Else, will find a Wallenstein stand alone.
4) One I am looking hard at is a 2019 B2301 w/ FEL, MTM and BX5455HD blower. Older and lazier now that my 4 sons are moving on:) Does the 22hp fit my needs? Also been looking at some L/LX series but appears no mid PTO on them. Major slip in capability and/or durability from my B2710? Is install of the blower a major PITA?
5) Rear finish mowers. How much agility do I lose vs a MMM? Got very good with my MMM, to the point of ditching my weed whipper. Do have a garden mower for close-in work. How are they relative to durability and maintenance compared to my old 72" MMM (which has been very good)? Thinking the Kubota or a LP, likely used.

Well, I am sure many other Q's but the above would help narrow my research a lot. Any help appreciated. And, as always, thanks to those that take the time to help others!!

Best,
Mike

You picked the worst time in the past 40 years to decide to buy a tractor. As did we all who have purchased in the past year.

Sellers market right now….you will have to take what you can get Or wait (which means prices likely to go up). Kubota went up on their prices across the board in Jan. I am not sure about other manufacturers. Dealers are taking advantage of many and doing their own version of price gouging..we really dont have much of a choice. Pay it or wait a few years.

3 PT wood splitter is a waste of time..just get a normal one on wheels and a ball for your draw bar on the tractor. Much easier and will save you time hooking it up.

How many hours on that 2019? Have you checked service logs? Is it being sold by dealer or private?
22HP should be ok…the main HP requirement for you will be mowing. Do you have to travel up hills? Up hills with loader on and turning a mower in high grass is probably the worst scenario.

Agree with Jchonline, B2301 should be fine, as long as its in good shape and for most homeowner tractors would have 150-250 hours.

I have a 3PT splitter but use on the front end loader, and connect to the BH hose connection (6-7 GPM) as I use the BH to lift and cut about

30-40 rounds then turn around and split. But for the cost of the 3PT vs a dedicated splitter I would go dedicated with engine, as they can go vertical too.

YES

2) Emissions: Don't want anything to do with DPF, Regen, etc..

3) Log Splitter

Buy a 110 volt or 220 volt electric log splitter.

4) Does the 22hp fit my needs? Also been looking at some L/LX series but appears no mid PTO on them.

All LX except single "SU" (Special Utility) model have a mid-PTO.
"SU" omits the mid-PTO.

5) Rear finish mowers. How much agility do I lose vs a MMM?

Don’t be afraid of a modern common rail diesel with a dpf. The people that complain about them are not running their machines properly. My tractor will start well below zero with minimum use of the plugs. In 124 hours I have regenerated once. The key is run you machine hard and do not idle it anymore than you absolutely need to. The harder you work it the hotter the exhaust get the longer your dpf will remain clean

M1 is spot on but, I do a lot of residential snow plowing and the auto throttle along with UHMW on the edge of pusher keeps clients happy.

The front snowblower isn't that bad to install.
Just leave it on all winter.
I think it would be fine on that tractor.
I believe that model blower is pretty decent.
A nearby city switched to them from the B2781B blowers they had.

Good Luck!

Used prices are nuts. Researched what my JD 2025R is worth because I'm trading it in on a Kubota B. Worth about $17k retail, only about $2k less than I paid for it (with excellent H130 loader) in 2015. Kubota is giving me $13k. Local JD dealer said he was thinking $12.5k.

Can't comment on the rest of your Qs. I was wanting a B2301 but had to settle for a B2691 because the only dealer with loaders only had the 26s.

Used prices are up because availability of any additions or implements is questionable: long waits. I had to give up on extra hydraulics, R4 tires, etc because of long waits otherwise.

I had a B2910 bought around 2000. Best tractor I have ever owned.
Your B2710 is almost the same tractor.
When I returned to the US and was looking at tractors, I would have loved to have had my B2910 back!
Ended up buying a B2601. I like this tractor but I still liked the B2910 better.
If you have a B2710 with low hours and in good condition, Why buy a different tractor?
